srt205
What is a good load for 185gr Precision 40 S&W bullets with Titegroup, Clays and VV N320? Thanks for you help, srt205 Edited February 18, 2011 by srt205
Jman
You'll be getting a real smelly and smoky load 'approaching' major velocities in the ~ 4.2 grain area. Chrono map (charting) it up slowly with your gun to make major safety with a good margin is highly recommended. JIm

CocoBolo
Of the 3 powders you listed only N320. TiteGroup is too hot and will cause fowling in the barrel, melting the moly. Sure some will say nah I use it, ok go to the FAQ page at Precision, its says don't use it. My favorite with these bullets is WST 4.7-4.8gr depending on OAL.. You can set them from 1.140 on out. to 1.20 depending on your barrel head space. I load mine at 1.185 w/4.8gr STI Edge. Be sure to bell the case so that you do not cut the moly and give them a good crimp. I don't recommend Clays in 40, but if you go there and many do just be mindful to use good brass. I've run N320 with these bullets and it works well @ 4.6-4.8gr. The WST is a lot less expensive and I prefer the feel of the WST, you might not. I run a 12# recoil with these loads in the Edge.
