BigDave
The SuperDrive on my wife's Macbook (2006 13.3" Intel 2.0, OS X 10.4.11) crapped out. So I bought a Samsung SE-S084 as a replacement and so we could upgrade to Snow Leopard. When I put a blank DVD disc into the drive, I can see it in Disc Utility. But, it shows it as Read Only. Also in DU, in ATA drives, I see nothing (it's as if the SuperDrive isn't there). Under USB, I do see the external drive. How can I get this Mac to see this drive? BigDave
Nevermind - went to Sharing and DVD/CD was not checked. Seems to be working now.
BritinUSA
My Superdrive died last year... I think I burned out the laser making Nationals DVDs. I bought an external one and the speed is significantly faster when burning. I'm going to upgrade to a LightScribe one later so I can burn images onto the disc cover, or perhaps a BlueRay burner. The video is 1080p and the regular DVD just cannot handle that resolution.
