Ron Ankeny
Actually, Duane's post shows a heck of a lot more thought than mine. So what's new?

InTheBlack
Duane said > Actually, we don't train to "wait" until we get a good sight picture. We train to get a good sight picture with such speed that the gun fires right as it stops moving into position. > Yes. Back to my original question- what's a good enough sight picture? There's a physical limit to the speed at which your eye can change its focus. The better one's index, the less front-sight focus is necessary, allowing the confirmation to occur sooner & so the shot breaks sooner. re Moros- excuse my repetition of the exaggeration of the 45, but the point is I think a bone hit will be a significant distraction. Jake Di Vita
A good enough sight picture is whatever you need to make the shot. It varies from person to person.
Larrys1911
Intheblack, Ive either missed it or no one has asked yet! Just how much longer (difference) do you "think" you have to wait to get a good hit over a peripheral one? like .01 to .005 maybe? Go for the good hit, those are the ones that matter! InTheBlack
When my buddy G. finally gets his PACT IV in the mail (helloooo Brian I'll find out the actual time difference. Subjectively, its forever! It must be at least 0.10.

Larrys1911
Common Guys! Expert level it should be no more than .1 SS maybe .15 or .2 Quit doing that in practice ITB your gonna TEACH yourself to do it that way! Do a GO FOR BROKE draw, make sure you see your sight before you touch it off and make CERTAIN They are on the paper! THEN do it over and make sure its where its supposed to be I am bettin its not more than .1 and probably closer to .05 depending on distance and the size of the tgt your trying to hit, on an IDPA tgt NOT LONG!
