I'm going to chime in here because Stage 14 was one of my favorite stages.

It was also my best stage of the match (which isnt saying much, 48th place)

I shoot on a regular basis with the 2010 Nationals stage designer/quartermaster/mrfixitguy (David King)

The fault line at the start position was not 90 degrees to the back berm, it was angled inward quite a bit.

The rear fault line was parallel to the back berm. There was a lot of margin for error on the draw at that position.

The video of me slogging thru the stage at a glacial pace shows the foot position/start position pretty good.

On my squad, we didnt have the RO's giving muzzle warnings at 'Make Ready' I'm pretty sure everyone was facing downrange to load (pretty standard procedure, right?)

Having said all that, yes, belts, suspenders, lowest common denominator, and margin of error should be taken into account for stage designs. A little extra safety never hurt anyone. But Stage 14 wasnt iffy at all.
