ans3288
Hi i am new to the forum, shooting pistol most of the time (ipsc) and i have recently purchased a s&w 625 My friend already got to bring down trigger pull weight to 7.5lbs firing reliably on cci primers, he was telling me that its a light fast strike, over a slow heavy strike for reliable ignition. We already cut off the hammer spur to reduce the weight, we are now looking at reducing firing pin weight, any chance somebody makes an extended titanium firing pin? Thanks! Toolguy
No one makes a titanium S&W firing pin as far as I know. Extended ones anyway. You couldn't save enough weight to make a difference. If you want to further reduce trigger pull, switch to Federal primers. I'm getting 100% on Federal with a 6 pound pull with stock hammer, 5 pound pull on my race guns. Edited October 9, 2010 by Toolguy
Carmoney
Factory S&W firing pins are made of Ti. The best are the earlier round-tip factory Ti FPs that measure about .495". These are far superior to the shorter and pointier FPs currently being used, supposedly to meet California drop test requirements. The aftermarket firing pins (C&S and Apex) are steel.
