Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. hi guys! need help, i recently bought a pair of peltor tactical 500. i was able to use them on my first range day and they were great. unfortunately, on my second day, they kept turning off, so i suspect low battery problem. after getting home and changing out new set of batteries, it won't turn on. i tested the leads of the terminals and they have 3V power from the batteries. anybody encountered this problem and found a fix? thanks!
  2. thank you. happened in a big match so you can guess what i felt after it happened. lol
  3. hi guys. i have experienced two 9mm case failures during a span of 20k thousand rounds. a portion of the blast cameout at the portion before the rim of the case. causing a catastrophic failure of gun locking up and cannot cycle the slide but gun was still ok after i was able to eject the blowm case. the bullet had enough force to be pushed out of the barrel. my question is... what are poasible causes of my case failure? i am loading obp462 3.1grain 1.12"oal 135grain lead bullets. could it be too fast burning powder, too low bullet head seating? also i am taking a look at brass pickedup from the range. i have seen the following "dents" at where the case failure happened. i am running an aftec extractor. any wild theories appreciated.
  4. thanks ssanders224! the haze isnt a prob, i just notice them when i reload with lube and comes off with a rag
  5. @dsa, i just cleaned my dies before i started reloading this batch of bullets
  6. case on the left has dillon case lube when resized, right one doesnt have the lube
  7. hi guys. I am spraying dillon case lube on my cases to make reloader run smoother. I noticed with dillon case lube I have a bit of sooty film on the case after resizing, without case lube its shinny.any comnents why this happens?
  8. i was suprised i didnt need to radius the firingpin stop to fit the aftec, it just slid right in. sorry but the para+aftec setup is already not with me. shooting the sti exclusively right now.
  9. btw i noticed that i had the shorty ejector installed in the sti edge. could it be possible that when i was holding the gun i impaired the full cycle of the slide thus "short cycling" it causing the brass not to come in contact with the ejector?
  10. i had very good experience with the aftec on my old paraord + sti slide standard gun. with my old setup, i was just running 1 spring for 70,000 rounds before i lost tension and decided to put the second spring and it was running flawless again. i bought a bnew stock STI EDGE 40cal and decided to put in a 40 aftec extractor. i put in one spring as per my experience with my old setup and after a couple of hundreds of rounds, the aftec lost tension. so i decided to put in the second spring to increase tension and lo and behold after approx 1,000 rounds, lost tension again. i suspected that the first spring i put in was already too "worn out" so i decided to change the two springs to new ones. i measured the extractor tension using my trigger pull gauge jimmy-rigged to an empty shell and i was getting 27 ounces. i shot a couple of matches without hiccups and after again approximately 1,000-1,200 rounds in a couple of local matches, it happened again yesterday twice in two different stages. when i got home, i measured the extractor tension using the setup and it dropped to 10-14 ounces. any suggestions on what to do (aside from going back to stock extractor) and what is the possible cause of the aftec extractor quickly losing tension? was trying to look for mcguns' email but when i visit their website, malware is present so i cant proceed. thanks guys!!!
  11. update: my friend was able to borrow a LEE carbide resizing/decapping die. we installed it in his machine and tested a few federal/blazer brass. so far so good. will update you guys once he starts reloading
