M&P Guide rod

Looking to change guide rod on a m&p pro 9, what do you all suggest? And what recoil spring weight for factory WWB/blazer brass 115gr? I am looking for a lighter recoil spring but do not want to sacrifice on reliability.

One stipulation: Changes have to be IDPA SSP LEGAL

IDPA SSP Rules prohibit:

4. Guide rods made of a material different from the factory part

it replaces.

That rules out Tungsten or Stainless Rods.

I don't see anything about springs so you coule use ISMI. I't try a 15# which is what I use in my APEX Comp'd 9L.

If you're trying to reduce muzzle flip, use the CCI (PF 131) instead of the WWB (PF136). You can also try the AA&A 147 gr which is what I use for a pushier ve flip recoil.

I called S&W, turns out that the factory guide rod IS stainless. So now I will be ordering a non-captured rod from SSS and a spring pack. Hopefully we can get her tuned up and running solid.
