Hi guys, I am a virgin to reloading.

I just got myself a press and everything needed to load 9mm for my Beretta elite (92fs). I have purchased frontier 124gr cmj RN for 9mm. But i seem to have a problem, i cannot find reload info on these, if i go to hodgdon website reload data, the only powder I see which is actually good for 9mm 124gr would be WSF. Am i doing something wrong? has anyone ever loading these things? or did i just buy suicide bullets?

124 GR. FMJ Winchester WSF .355" 1.169" 4.7 1015 27,700 PSI 5.3 1115 32,700 psi

124 GR. LEAD RN Winchester WSF .355" 1.169" 4.0 945 22,200 PSI 4.7 1055 27,300 PSI

thanks!

Welcome to the forums. 124's are great for 9mm. Tite Group is very good for 9mm 124's. I would search the 9mm reloading forum here for recipes using TG and 124's of similar profile. Lots and lots of bullets are not listed in manuals etc. You just have to look for a similar bullet shape/ profile.

I have just purchased Unique smokeless powder, what would be a good recipe for 124gr Cmj for 9mm? the reason i ask is because i have the Lee reloading manual and has no info on this..

I use 124gr Montana Gold CMJ RN with Tightgroup. I checked with Montana Gold and they recommend using the FMJ load data. The data I found indicates 4.0 to 4.4. I find that 4.1 to 4.2 is great in my guns. Here are my results in my XDm 9mm with 4.2.

Velocity	Power Factor
1101	136.524
1104	136.896
1118	138.632
1092	135.408
1101	136.524
1101	136.524
1084	134.416
1104	136.896
1098	136.152
1097	136.028

Hello:

IIRC, 124gr. Frontier 9mm bullets are actually hard cast lead with an electroplated copper coating. The loading data will probably be somewhere between hard cast lead and FMJ loads.

Winchester Super Field is a ball powder that is a very good choice in 9mm for a beginner. It is accurate, burns cleanly, meters well, and you won't need to approach maximum loads to reach your power factor. I use 4.9gr WSF with 124gr Montana Gold FMJ for 130 PF in my CZ85. I suspect that you could start around 4.7gr WSF with your Frontier Bullets.

Hodgdon's "Universal Clays" (aka Universal) is also a good 9mm powder. It is a little faster than WSF and is a flake powder. It may not meter quite as well as WSF at the outset, but burns very clean, and also reaches power factor at less than maximum loads. I think that around 4.5gr Universal will get you started.

WSF is an excellent powder for 0mm. I use WSG for both 124 and 147 gr. FMJ's.

I've had good luck with my M&P Pro (stock barrel) with 124gr MG CMJ loaded to 1.15 OAL with 4.3 gr. Titegroup. Most other people here on the forum load shorter (1.10 to 1.3 is pretty common you'll find).
