Stark
1902 and 1903 Colt Semi-autos, in .38 ACP. The last time I shot one, it dawned on me, that most likely the Retractor AKA Recoil Spring had never been changed, and was pushing 90 years old. They have been Safe Queens for some time. I've checked out all the the likely suspects, plus net searches, and came up with nothing. Called Colt and was told they didn't have that information???? In need of a source of springs or information on length and poundage, as these pistols aren't ready to be display only models, quite yet.. Any info greatly appreciated. G-ManBart
I'd give this place a call. I think they've listed them accidentally at a .380acp rather than .38acp, it's not exactly clear. http://www.gun-parts.com/colt/

Would be interested in finding someone who makes gun springs to order..., thanks for the suggestion.
Jim Watson
Maybe we can go by physical characteristics. Measure the wire diameter, the outside coil diameter, and count the turns. Then ask everybody you know to measure all their recoil springs. You might find something of current manufacture that was close enough. (You can put a Glock spring in a 1911 and it will work just fine.)
