230 RN loading long Proper COL

I have just started loading .45 a few months ago after years of loading .40. I notice that most like to load the 230 RN ball to lenths from 1.25 to 1.27. With .40 everything works at about 1.185-1.20, in a 1911-2011 platform, so why the extra long lenths. Book lenths are about 1.20, do they run better at about 1.25 ?

Just a lead hardcast 230 round nose ,bulletworks,.

Reason I ask is if I load out past about 1.235 they stick a little. I could open up the leade a little in the barrel but if I can get away with just loading a bit shorter all will be well.

So far I have been loading 200 round nose flat point so the AOLs have been short enough ..

Have the same problem with Bear Creek 230's. If the front driving band sticks out past the mouth of

the case they will stick a bit in the leade. I just load them short enough so the driving band is

flush with the case mouth---no problem in MANY thousand rounds.
