Long loaded 40 jam in Single Stack

Shooting my new Dan Wesson SSC in 40 (single stack) I came across problems with my long loaded 40 rounds.....1.195 OAL.

Several time it would get really close to locking up and stop. It took a lot of pulling on the slide to get the rounds out. The last time it happened, I could not get the slide back, so I pushed the front of the slide against a piece of wood on a wall (pointing downrange) and it ejected the brass, the powder was all over the feed ramp, and the bullet was in the barrel.

I used a squib rod and pushed it out. The other rounds had the moly on the bullets scraped. I am using 180 grain moly coated bullets. I am guessing the bullets are loaded too long. Any thoughts?

Yep.

I have a dan wesson in .40. and other 40 single stacks. i load to 1.185 with a 180 moly lead TC. feeds and runs fine in all of the guns.

If you are having the issue of the round sticking, you are loading too long, back it off as this will cause pressure issues, which could lead to a very disastrous incident.
