First of all, you can reset a plate rack in three seconds, a Texas star takes much longer to reset. Number two, the plate rack is the same every time (consistant presentation), so it is easy to keep track of times for various drills, and determine if you are making progress. The star will be slightly different depending on how it is set, the order it is shot, etc. That being said, the star is a blast to shoot, and I would always prefer that to a rack in a match. (not happening) Amazing how many guys shoot 4 for 4 perfect and then start yanking the gun around and getting 2 low shots into the frame of the rack. You don't have to train left-right or right-left.
