Best Load .45 for 4" 625

May have been discussed here but could not find it.

Shooting IDPA with 4 inch 625.

Using 230gr FMJ with 4.1 clays and it's hitting around 155,000.

Suggestions? Go up on the clays, switch to W231 or what other powders would you guys suggest.

Here's a thread that a search on the .45 reloading forum turned up. I use 4.1 Clays behind a 230gr LRN at 1.250 OAL for a PF of 173.

Clays is almost the industry standard in gaming 45ACP. Super clean even when using lead.

Is it ok to use 4.2 or 4.3 Clays and be safe? Somewhere I saw that 4.0 was max. Am I incorrect with that?

Also, using Full Metal Jackets with the 625. Use lead for my 1911's.

I use 4.1-4.2 with lead 200gr, and 3.8-3.9 for 230gr lead. No signs of pressure, and have not chrono'd yet. Both shoot well from my 1911's and my 5inch 625.

I ran a 4" 625 in USPSA/IDPA for 3 years. The load I ended up with was 4.5 grains of TiteGroup under a 230 Grain JHP from Zero or Montana Gold. Accurate, pretty soft, and it always made Power factor.
