  1. I keep gettin an error that says "Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart in one minute. Please save your work now" At one point this was a never ending loop that would keep popping up after restart. Brought it to the Geek Squad :roflol: and had a new spysweeper installed, that reduced it a little, brought it in again and they "optimised" it . That reduced it a little more. Installed a registry cleaner and new anti virus and that has reduced a little more. But it still pops up when a new user logs on. This started happening one year after i bought it, when all the junk you had installed startes expiring. Vista 32 bit. I'm assuming it's a software problem but can someone point me in the right direction. Because when i go into Best Buy now all the Geek Squad guys run into the girls bathroom.

  2. We've all seen the videos where 10 cops surround a car and he tries to drive off so they all pull their weapon and blast away and hit the guy in the arm once and other cops even more. this helps you control that initial freak out moment just after you draw your weapon so you don't just blast away. USPSA has never claimed (i don't think anyway) to be a training tool for LE's or military, but it don't hurt. We regularly have swat guys show up at matches, they even have their own shirts made up.

  3. I'm going to stir this up a little more. There is a question about this in the RO test and i kept getting it wrong because i was thinking of a Para LDA that i have. Double action only with no decocker or hammer that has a half cocked position, only a thumb safety. So according to the rules you could put it in your holster with the thumb safety off and not be violating the rules, because the hammer is fully down. I kept saying that if it has a safety you must engage the safety, but that is not the way the rules are written. Or am i missing something.

  4. I just got a pair of these and ordered the Rx insert also but when i put that thing in the glasses the lenses distort and it is almost like seeing double. It is so bad i can't or wont use them. anyone else have problems with the Rx insert. The glasses themselves are outstanding.

  5. Your first sentence answered your question. You are a 3 month open shooter. Learn to walk before you run. Keep practicing, learn from your mistakes and don't get discouraged. Next year some new shooter is going to ask you for advice on how to be more consistant.

  6. Here is a quick and dirty you can remember easily. Bell just enough so the bullet wont fall off when you place it on the case. Crimp is the bullet diameter plus the case thickness x2 sides. 10 thou is a good guesstimate for case thickness. So for my .40's i end up with .420 for final size. After you load some, pull a bullet and see if there is a ring around the bullet. If you see a ring you have too much crimp.

  7. I had an RCBS tumbler that had really good action or movement of media if you will, but it died so i bought a Lyman 1200. The basket on that was so flimsy that the media action was deminished so, wanting two, I ended up buying the cabella's one because it had the best action for a small price and had a warranty. I then took the basket from the rcbs and put it on the lyman base and that runs good. My advice is to buy quality even though these things can be hit or miss.

  8. I saw on CBS news a story about how Cowboy action shooting is the fastest growing shooting sport. Showed this lady wearing her rig while doing the dishes and dry firing in the living room. Was a nice report done in a positive light.

  9. When i lived in Utah i used to ride to work (35 mi), i would have to leave at 4:30 am to get there on time. I loved riding at night with my night rider head light. no traffic, no bugs, no peds getting in my way and much less heat in summer. I rode 250 mi a week until Jan if it stayed above 40. less than that and i couldn't keep my toes warm, even with booties. I have an early 90's specialized epic that has first generation STI shifters and i still ride that thing. Not as much because now i live near Santa and it is always cold or humid. But it sure clears the mind.

  10. You need to get Lanny Bassham's audio CD's, not the book, the CD's of With Winning in Mind. He addresses this kind of situation and gives you a plan to overcome it. IMO an audio program gives you a little more depth as to what the author is trying to convey. I have been doing this for only a week and have already seen an improvement in my shooting. While i am delevoping a mental plan that suits me i have taken an attitude of not caring about my scores because i am in training for my mind and if i make a mistake thats ok because i am still developing my own plan. But guess what, i have made less mistakes, and the ones i do make i can let go of right away. My plan will only take a month or so to be realitivly set in my brain so there is no reason you can't do something similar and be on top of your game in time for the prime shooting season. Because if you can't get your head in the game you might as well stay home.

  11. I just took the RO class this weekend and we talked about this stuff. The forbidden action can be used to address a stiuation where a competitor finds a way to game a stage that makes it uncompetitive or possibly unsafe for the RO. The shooter gets a reshoot and the action becomes forbidden (like an unintended shortcut) so no one else can do it. If you invert a classic target you can not tell where the A zone is. But if you invert a metric target you still know where the A zone is. As far as using tools, i would rather have someone use a tool to clear a jam as opposed to a wall or a rock or the friggin' force for that matter. My personal oppinion as far as forbidden actions go, the purpose of this game is to beat the other guy under identical conditions. Beating someone because you found an unintended loophole does not make you a better shooter. Ask yourself this question: to make it with a woman do i have to get her drunk? Most people will say, Of course not i'm not that kind of person. Then why would one want to you use that attitude when playing this game? When i beat the other guy i want him to be shooting the best match of his life.

  12. Hell, thats all your worried about? I always forget to put bullets in mine. Got to the point where i drilled a 1/8 hole in the lower right of my mag so i can see if there are bullets in it. If i quit flappin' my yapper maybe i would remember to load my mags. <_<

  13. Chewed for 25 years a can a day. Told the wife i would quit when a roll of ten got to fifty bucks. (thank god for Sams club). Well when it did i went on the patch but kept forgetting to put the dumb thing on so finally i said screw it and just went without. Never looked back. Quitting is all mental.

  14. Here i am sitting in my little office watching a PBS special on music of the sixties and Iron Butterfly is playing In a Gadda da Vida. The dudes are all old as hell, have bifocals and the lead guitarist looks like he just came off a 20 year acid trip. And they sound good as hell, and Maryln McCoo and Billy Davis jr and she sounds good too. What the heck has happened to music today that these people, old as they are, can still belt out the tunes ( no lip syncing here ) and draw crowds and todays music sucks. I even have some of these peoples records in my basement. <_< I think good music ended around 1979 or so.

  15. Unfortunatly that sometimes happens. Especialy when it's cold or food is involved. If you belong to said club ask the MD/club prez to remind folks at the shooters meeting that squads should tear down the last stage they are on. Then if it doesn't get done he has to tear it down and he won't forget to ramrod the teardown next time.
