Earlier this summer i went to the range to practice and saw a newer shooter practicing shooting steel. He and a more experienced shooter spent a number of hours and a few hundred rounds practicing. A few days later at the weekly league match this guy was on my squad and the first stage had 4 mini poppers to shoot right after the draw. He used every mag on his belt and only got two of them. We were yelling to him to move on but he said no and kept getting madder. After his last mag he packed his bag and left the range and has never been back. This sport and his temperment weren't compatable.

I was at the chipacracker yesterday and he was rubbing on my back with his thumb trying to find whatever he was looking for. When he found it he kind of stacked his hands and went crack...and my ass went pffft. Thought to myself if i was at the range that would of been a DQ. (accidental discharge ) I didn't mean to fart on the chipacracker, it just kind of happened. You just have to say to yourself sometimes things happen and you try not to do them again. Everybody had a good laugh and he said you arn't the first. So let it go and move on. I'd say shit happens, but it was a dry fart.

I started watching this online and if you can get past the explosions of blood and all the naked women the back stabbing and betrayals are epic. The fight sceenes are pretty good but the climax is a little overblown with all the spurting blood. Funny how no one ever loses a tooth or breaks a bone. There should be some serious payback comming up on the last couple of episodes.

I was assumming this would be Band of Brothers pacific version. Then i saw an interview on MSNBC where Tom Hanks said the only reason we killed all the Japanese on those islands was because of racism. Talk about a betrayal to every veteran who fought in the pacific. I just hope this isn't another hate America series, but i fear it might be. I never thought i would hear stuff like that from Tom Hanks. Oh well there's always Sponge Bob...

While RO'ing this weekend had a guy on the line and at the beep his first round went "click" so he ejected it into the mud and continued on with the course. His last shot went "BOOM" and blew out the side of his XDM. Gun ruined, hand stinging. Had that first round gone bang then the bad round would have been the ULSC round which would have ended up in the mud, never to be shot. Karma or, maybe fate is a better word, can be a bitch someimes.

I used to tape regularly, now i don't do it at all. I seem faster without it, although it may just be a mental thing. But thats good enough for me because if i think i'm faster i will be faster.

I quit a can a day Cope habbit a number of years ago now and i still have cravings. I really enjoyed cramming a glob of that stuff in my mouth. I went on the patch but kept forgetting to put the dumb thing on. So i just said screw it, i dont need it. For me it was all mental. The only bad thing was my favorite time to chew was while reading. I use to read a book every couple of days. Since i've quit i haven't picked up one single book.

If you plan to drive to the nationals, check out the local sporting goods stores on the way. We had people who went to Area 3 and were able to pick over 6k just from the local stores on the way. If you buy primers at the nationals you will pay a premium.

I have a .40 STI based gun built by one of the well known smiths and after the normal break in period it has run flawlessly through 3k rounds of zero bullets. (180 JHP) Well since you can't find zero's anymore i was forced to buy Montana Gold, which is also a fine bullet. Well since i have started using these i'm getting a failure to feed problem. The problem seems to be when the slide strips off the next round it doesn't want to slide up under the extractor all the way thus ending up with a failure to go into battery. Now i know this sounds like something that has nothing to do with new bullets, but why did it start just when i changed bullets. I've tried different lengths, more crimp, less crimp. I don't have any old bullets left to see if it does it with them. A guy i shoot with told me i could file the slot in the Aftec a little if it seems like it is too tight, but i don't want to screw it up if the problem is elsewhere. I have removed the extractor and cleaned the hole, but it all of a sudden seems to be too tight. Anyone heard of something like this before or have any suggestions. Edit to add: both bullets are 180 JHP.

I work nights and two out of three weekends. So normally i go to matches on the weekend after work. This weekend i worked a 16 hour day on Thurday went home and got 4 hours of sleep and then worked 8 more hours. Then went to the match. I didn't feel sleepy, but i did feel a little slow. I figured i would perk up after the match started, but unfourtuneatly i didn't. Forgot where to reload, which targets i shot and mike city. After my last stage i just quitely packed my bags and went home. Just a plain poor performance. I will not do that again. Had a match on Sunday as well, but just stayed home. Lesson learned: overtime and matches don't go together.

The phrase "under my control" means basiclly under my supervision. I can see what you are doing and the actions you are taking. (movement with finger on trigger, reloads with fingers on trigger, foot faults,ect.) It does not mean you can control where they go or what they do. And an RO has never stopped anyone (for not being able to supervise them) at any of the clubs i belong to even though they should have on occasion. If a score taker can take over, fine. But sometimes a score taker can't do it because they are too far away watching the shooter from a different angle or area or whatever. Then you should have the option of stopping the shooter. Don't read anything extra into this dissussion, it's a safety thing not a control thing. No one is trying to make your life harder they are trying to make it longer.
