  1. This is supposedly how Mr. Cooper designed it:

3 silhouette targets are placed 1 meter apart in a line 10 meters from the shooter.

The shooter starts with 6 rounds in a holstered handgun, and a spare magazine or speedloader with another 6 rounds.

The shooter begins facing directly away from the targets, often with hands clasped in front or over the head.

Upon the starting signal, the shooter turns and draws, fires 2 shots at each target, reloads, then fires two more shots at each target.

  2. EGW U die--Fixes glockified brass and makes loads feed better, but does make the press clunky and must have press indexing properly.

Dillion Powder die--Polish and taper the stem for smooter loading and .002" less case expansion. The harder you grip the bullet the cleaner & more consistant your loads will be.

Redding Competition Seating die--Not necessary but makes changing between loads easy.

Lee Factory Crimp die--Just to make sure one last time.

Hornady One Shot case lube and a gallon freezer bag.

    Extra primer pickup tubes.

A little clamp on light for the press. Lowes $8

    Low primer alarm.

Knob for the powder measure bolt. Lowes .90c

Scale, I like my old beam scale.

223 case and some 3/8 tube to do the primer catch mod.

What is this primer catch mod you speak of? Interested because I usually have spent primers all over the floor.

  3. Redding Competition Seating Die

Dillon Crimp Die (although lots of guys like the Lee Factory Crimp Die)

    For stocking stuffers:

    8 - 10 primer pickup tubes

    UniqueTek Powder bar micrometer

Dillon Calendar in plain view while pulling the handle :D

As long as your not yanking the handle while watching the calender. :P

  5. Assuming that you are talking about a 10 round 9MM mag Virgil Tripp has one on the way. I talked to him a couple weeks ago and he said he had the bugs worked out and that it should be in production by the end of the year. If there is anyone alive that can get a 10 round 9MM to work it would be Virgil. I am looking forward to it.

I've been keeping my fingers crossed on this one also.

  6. Being new to reloading I haven't yet got to test a lot of different powders but shooting the Titegroup in my 9mm 1911 I do find it pretty dirty and smokey also compared to the CCI Blazers I normally shot before rolling my own. I do like the powder for it's softness and consistentcy though.

  7. Bump for a good thread. And a question added:

Can someone tell me why both eyes open should be so much better than one? I know your periphual (<spelling) vision will be better with both but as hard as I try I just can't train my brain/eyes to get good consistent shots this way and have therefore gone back to using one eye. Hats off to the guys who can do this consistently and get good shots.

  8. Oh, for crying out loud. Your new? and you've been going to matchs, but not shooting?

Go to your local sporting goods store and buy a kydex holster, a couple of 2-up kydex mag pouches. Get a leather belt at K-mart. The GO SHOOT!

Don't get caught up in all the fancy gear until you get some matches under your belt (pun intended).

OR buy once, cry once and get the good stuff. B)

  9. tumble and load, I generally just toss cases with crimped primers. Basically military surplus ammo uses crimped primers. Also some eastern ammo uses laquered primers (The red stuff on S&B) I dont mess with them either but a little handheld primer pocket reamer will allow you to use them if for some reason that's what your free brass supply is.

Just received a batch I bought off of eBay that was mostly S&B with the red laquered pockets. What exactly makes them hard to load?

  10. Update: Ordered the pistol Monday and picked it up from my FFL Tuesday (next day). Can't say enough about Dawson's, great people to deal with.

I had them switch the front sight post to a Dawson .100 fiber optic. Everything looks great. Finish and fit is great. Very smooth. First thing I did when I got it home was strip it and clean/lube everything. Came with a 9mm Mec-Gar mag. Just ordered a S&A magwell and 4 of the 9mm Metalform (Springy) mags with bumpers as described above in a previous post.

Now I've got to make some time to get out run it a little B)

  11. I had emailed every one of the STI stocking dealers last week and nobody had one in stock. But just got off the phone with Kathy at Dawson's and she verified that they DID have one of the Trojan 9mm 5" pistols in stock. So now needless to say I am now $966.60 (shipped) poorer.

I've heard good and bad reports of the Trojan 9mm. Got my fingers crossed that I get a good one. Should have it by the end of the week. Will update when I get to run it a little. Any suggestions on mags, etc...?

  12. I'm having a hard time deciding and thought I would ask the advice of the fellow B.E.'ers. Heres the deal. I want a 1911 in a 9mm and had basically decided i wanted the STI Trojan. Now the problem is nobody has them in stock and STI lists a 16+ week production time. I have fallen back to my second gun in line which was the Springfield Loaded. Is there really that much of a quality difference to justify waiting the 16+ weeks or should I drive on down to my local retailer and pick up the Springy today?

  13. Thanks for the input. The scales are Dillon electronic and I've calibrated with their supplied weight and a few different bullets. The crimp feels about right and I pulled a few bullets and didn't see any signs of indenture.

I'm just gonna blame it on the conditions here (weather, temp., humidity, etc...) and do what everyone said and bump that puppy up a little. B)

    Thanks guys!

    Zack
