There is no benefit to using magnum primers in 300blk.

I use 450's due to the powder and bullet weights used.   As far as more speed there wasn't any/enough change.   @ primers used for comparing loads I've done are 400's and 450's.   If it works for me, then I go for it.

Has anyone tried Lil’gun?  I acquired some that was originally slated for 300 Blk. Now that is no longer in the que I have quite a bit to use elsewhere. I have read it burns too hot and isn’t good on the forcing cone. Didn’t know if this is internet BS or factual to some degree?

I've used lil gun in 44mag and 50ae.   Can't complain!   I've also used lil gun for 300bo.   Pretty much any powder for 44mag I've used in 300bo (296, h110 (I know it's the same) and lil gun).   1680 is also my go to in 300bo.

  3. I was trying to build an under 7.5# with optic in 338lm 28-30" barrel.   With the hnt stock and Ti receiver and cf barrel the weight is under 7#, but the optic puts it over 8.5#.   If I were to only shoot 250's and lighter then a 24-26" would be fine.   I do like the mdt chassis as I have 2 of them.   I think apf sells chassis for savage 110's (Graham Bros.) also that looks nice.

  4. I'm glad I don't shoot as much as most of you peeps, but would rather roll my own than buy most factory ammo.   Yes, there's a fine line on range ammo pricing to rolling your own, but not near as much fun and relaxing.   Most of my primer inventory is from pre-covid pricing and have bought some of those hard to find (well for me in the middle of nowhere) large rifle (magnum included) primers of mostly cci.   Having to branch out and use (and find) fed, win and rem also.   CCI being the only brand used in the past will cause me to do some work-up loads.  Pistol primers might be easier to acquire, but still finding prices neat the 7 cent mark before shipping and hazmat.   If you don't buy much the average goes up around 2 cents per or more.   While I did pay 15 cents per for large magnum rifle that came out to be 17.6 cents/per made my 4 cents per go up.   It can always be worse on prices, but paying $2+/per for rifle cartridges in the hunting section (some in match ammo also) can still be made cheaper than factory.   Buying into a new cartridge (6.5prc) can be challenging if you leap before you look and not make sure you can find dies, brass and /or factory ammo for reloading.   I was going in the direction of 6.5saum/4sgap, but the prc was easier to get.   I was able to find factory 6.5prc ammo for $1.14/per which made the decision easier.

I never understood the fear of using the plastic plates the M&P’s come with. They’re nothing more than shims. It’s not like you’re mounting screws directly into the plates.

    So true!

Breaks will help a ton. Look at the ACE break, 419 hell fire if you like pissing people off or the apa fat Ba$tard

Unless it's a linear brake (if you can call it that) all will be your neighbor's irritation.   Radials are a little better.

That was my post I will take responsibility for it.  I came here looking for reloading info.  Instead I was told the 357 sig is dead its a waste of time.  not once but over and over again.  Not one constructive comment from that individual, others yes helped for those that gave me help/constructive comments thank you. Sorry I was just frustrated.

I enjoy my 357sig's as I have 2 and will have more.   P226, g31 and will do a barrel conversion of an xdm 40s&w 5.25".   I have 3 barrels for the g31 and possibly get a longer barrel for the 226 either in ported and/or threaded.

The 9mm and 357 Sig are about 50 to 100 FPS apart. I used to love the 357 Sig but soon found it’s a waste of time.

I don't find it a waste of time as I enjoy the 357sig!   With 125gr and heavier per barrel length it's faster than 100fps than a 9 standard pressure.   With +p it's closer, but still a big difference.   I load standard and +p in 9mm along with 357sig also.   Just shoot what you enjoy and leave the rest for others to decide.   Easy as that!   147gr in sig is way faster than a 9 with the same barrel length and not just 50-100fps faster.....well with what I load for.

Thanks for all the help.  I went to the range in my 357 Sig with 125 grain plated extreme

bullets.  I started at 12 and went to 12.7 grains Accurate #9.  Made decent powder.

In my 10mm I loaded a coated 155 grain over 15 grains Accurate #9.  This load

I really like.    Thing is these recipes eat up powder.  I was considering BE-86 because

of lesser powder use.  What are peoples thoughts I have looked around but the load

data seems to be less available with the 86 or should I stay with #9?  Thanks.

I've used be-86 in my 40s&w and like it.

I have seen it done with 9mm Luger in a 357 Sig for an entire mag and the rounds grouped well. Brass was ruined though

What firearm was that done in?   Out of curiosity I might chamber 1 (not fire it).

Local law enforcement uses 357 Sig and experienced bullet set back with some loads. They use AA #9 in reloads to help with that issue.

This is Western Powders load data for the 357 Sig.

    Screenshot_20230321_063109_Drive.jpg

that cartridge is a pita, but love the power from it!   I use the Lee FCD with the right amount of depth on crimp without any issues of bullet set back.   With such a short neck it's worth the money for security.

  14. I use Sierra and Hornady mostly form 90-147gr.   As far as powders for each I'd need to check.   Pretty much everything I load is near max.   Those 90gr sure do fly from a 357sig.   I'll get back to you on powders per bullet combos I've done.

I am using 124 grain  9mm- 124 FP extreme copper plated bullets.  I am looking to shot good power levels out of it.  My powder is Accurate #9 They say to start at 12 and go to 13 grains.  Although I do have other powders.  I am looking to shoot at major power level.

I don't do any comp shooting, so I'm not sure how that's figured?

Also you actually can shoot 9mm in a 357 sig barrel. The brass will bulge badly but the gun will cycle. Had a friend of mine make that mistake with no harm to him or the gun.

You're corect in a manner of speaking.   9mm is the caliber for the 357sig, but 9luger is a different story.   This was my mishap as I loaded a 357sig round into a 40s&w.   I bounced down the barrel at hit the target at 50 yards.   Now I have 1 fireformed 40s&w case.
