  1. Grip tape

    Warren/Sevigny sights

    25 cent trigger job

    Zero 180's and TG

    Dawson mag pads.

lose the extended slide stop/release in favor of stock

That takes care of the gear.

Learn good technique. Make Grand Master.

I agree with, and forgot Grip-Tape. I love it.

I also use Titegroup under my 180gr Zero's.

The factory extened slide stop can, and will get in the way of your grip. I have filled mine some, and need to do some more.

Auh yes....Technique. You are coming from a 1911 trigger to a Glock

With me, it's one or the other. They are really different. I, unlike others, can't switch back, and forth.

    Glock for me :D G35 Limited/Limited 10. G17 IDPA/USPSA Production. G27 carry

  2. Trigger - I did my own trigger work. 3.25 lbs. with no stacking. Very nice if I do say so myself.

Sights - I use Dawson's adj. rear with there .100" X .285" f/o front. Very nice. No complaints. I just installed some Bomar (drop in) on my G17 also with Dawson's f/o front (same size), and I think I like the Bomar sight picture a little better. These do overhang the rear if the slide, which some don't like. For me I look at it as an extended sight picture

Barrel - I guess you want a KKM for shooting coated lead? I currently shoot Zero's 180gr JHP's, and they group under 1.5" at 25 with my factory barrel.

Magwell - I think this will be a matter of trial, and error. If you can, handle others and see which you like. I'm using a JP Enterprises (alum) because I sometimes use my G35 for IDPA ESP. I would like a larger opening, but other then that I really like it.

Mag extensions - I just installed 3ea. Arredondo's, but have yet to use them in a match. I don't know how they will hold up on concrete. Most of my shooting will be on grass, dirt, gravel. We'll see. A lot of people like the Dawson's too.

Rod, and spring - No experence with tungston. I'm using an extended steel rod (self made) with ISMI 13# spring. I think factory is 17#. This too is going to be trial, and error. Depends on your load, and what type of recoil you like. Of course reliablity is number 1 here.

Rig - I just got a CR Speed rig from Angus at Ghostholster. WSM II, 3ea. Versa mag pouches, and there Tourque belt. Love it. I can't compare it to others, with this being my 1st limited rig. No complaits at all. I have yet to use it in a match, but have done a lot of dry firing, and practicing at the range. Note; the holster came properly steup, and pretty much adjusted for my G35. No problems. The mags can move a little on the belt, but this has not bothered me yet. they come with wedges for security once properly positioned.

    Hope this helps a little.

    Bill

  3. Nice move ordering the 650 Bill. And don't think I didn't take notice of your ManCrush in your Avatar  Of course I will have to share that with our IDPA crowd. :P

    Angel

    Thanks :)

If you do I sware I'll get even

    I don't know how......But I will

Hey , Dave's a cool guy. It was my fantasy to meet....um, er....my plesure to meet him.

Watch it, or we'll Glock up on ya :P

  4. Hey Brian, Thanks! I may end up coming back, and hitting you up for the bullet tray.

I may, or may not end up using the strong mount. It will depend on the heigth. My bench is pretty tall, and I already stand to reload. I'm thinking the larger footprint will aid in stability, and rigidness (is this a word?).

Anyway, I thought hard about the 550, but I'm use to auto indexing. Hence the 650.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I scared off others with my Lee story. Oh well, it'll make a great commercial for Dillon presses

    Can't wait. Thanks again!

    Bill

  5. After taking a hammer to my Pro1000 I have no means of reloading now. I have been messing with that thing for years, and finally got fed up. I think my Dies survived the Lee massacre though.

I'm probably 50/50 (40/9mm), so I'll soon order a caliber conversion kit for the 9mm. I have 2-3 major IDPA matches, and the Va/Md Sectional (USPSA) coming up soon. I have enough 40 Major, but I'm out of 40 Minor, and 9mm ( Hello WallyWorld  )

Need I say....I can't wait for the Dillon! I ordered it with the Strong mount, and extra primer p/u tubes.

It can't get here too soon.

  6. I just took a hammer to my Pro1000. Don't know if I messed up my dies or not. Right now I don't care......I just had to get away from it.

Can't afford anything else, but I don't care. Atleast I don't have to try, and work with that thing anymore. I messed with it, and replaced parts for the last 2-weeks. I'm done.

Good luck to the rest of you Lee guys.

Stupid me. I have some major matches coming up soon too. Oh well

    Thanks for letting me vent.

  7. I just purchased a G17 with a 5 lb connector, and the pull is between 7-8 lbs.

My G35 has a home smithed 3.25 lb. pull, using the stock trigger return spring, and a reduced striker spring (like kamann touched on).

Yesterday my splits were a lot faster with the G35. Perhaps it's because I'm not use to the stock trigger of the G17. Like Mr. Thomas said "It all comes down to what you're used to. Trust me, you shoot a 2-pound trigger for awhile, you'll find the 5-pound trigger feels weird, the exact opposite of your current situation."

My trigger should be prepped as the front sight returns to the rear notch no matter what I'm shooting, It's just a matter of getting use to it. I just ordered a bunch of goodies for the G17, and hopefully I can duplicate my 3G5's trigger. I love it

For $10 try the LWD 3.5 connector. You'll probably end up liking it.

    Good luck

  8. Okay,

I took some of the Winchester 180gr FP and loaded them to 1.18 with 4.6gr of Titegroup. The crimp was 1/8 of a turn past the point where the die just touched the brass. It just leaves a slight ring on the round if I pull them apart. The groups got smaller, 3-4 inches at 25 yards. Better, but still not as good as the factory rounds. The factory rounds are 1.115 in length. I can't tell what powder they use, but it weighs 5.5 gr. I'd shoot 5 of factory and 5 of reloads and the factory was more accurate each time.

I weighed and measure each bullet as I built them.

    Any thoughts?

    Skip

+1 on what everyone has said about your crimp. Should be anywhere from .420"/.422".

How did you know to load to 1.180"?

Have you checked your chamber for max. oal for this bullet?

I take a fire case. Slightly flare the mouth. Insert a bullet, and use it to find the maximum oal. of the chamber. Then I back off .010/.015", and start from there.

I don't think this works with Glocks though because of feeding issues due to the magazine dimensions.

Others may do this differently, and chime in with there suggestions.

BTW, I would note bother weighing each round.

    Good luck

  9. I have the plain black adj. rear, and .100 X .285" f/o front on my G35 Limited gun. I like them a lot. Good sight picture, positive clicks, well made.

A little tall maybe, but I couldn't afford (nor wanted to wait for) melted Bomars.

I hope to get a G34 soon, but I have'nt made up my mind on either Dawson's, Warren/Sevigny's, or drop in Bomars.

IMO you can't go wrong with Dawson's. They are popular for a reason.....As are the others I mentioned

    Good luck

  10. Todd did get DQ'd; but he was not going to be shooting the whole match though - He had to leave at noon yesterday to catch a plane to Canada to attend his boss' funeral today.

Please keep him and the whole Para family in your thoughts.

    Rebecca

Sorry to hear that. Thoughts, and prayers on the way.

Saw you shoot a stage.......Wow, outstanding! Congrats on 5th overall B)

    Bill

  11. Wow! Too much to asorb in one day for my tiny brain.

Meeting, and talking to Sevigny (great guy), and Julie (cute as a button, and super nice). Seeing TJ get DQ , Scott Warren, and the list goes on.

Stage-1 did me in. 4.86 followed by a 17.41. Ouch! My only malf., and brain fart. Squading with good friends, and buddies kept it loose, and enjoyable........Think I'm ready for the Super Squad now :P

Bumbed that the pic of me, and Julie didn't take :(

  12. He's right he is funny to look at. So is his rubber doll. :P I'll see you guys there as well. I'll be shooting limited.

    Angel

Hey big guy! I've got a perfectly bad piece of crap Lee Pro1000 I'll trade you for a Dillion 650 ;) I'm jealous.

Yeah, well.......I don't know Mike that well so I wasn't going to say anything, but........

It's a shame she got deflated. I was really looking forward to shooting a stage with her

  13. Thanks all. Looks like L-10 for me.

The reason I'm not using the Sherer's is when I installed a couple of them I didn't like the fit. I could just see one of them disassembling itself at an inappropriate time during the match

Longshot here but, anyone going to Fred. want to trade some Glock +5's for some Para 16-40 hi-caps ;)

Ah, the 11 secret herbs and spices of the whisper recipe.

Just curious Bill, what type of holster/mag pouches are you using?

Ha-Ha! JT should be proud of me. Maybe I can be refered to as "Wild Bill" now B). How'bout it Jim?

I'm just using my Bladetech stuff on a 1.75" belt.
