    Newb Revo ?

Psky: Good info--didnt think of the loose rounds slowing you down. Man that would drive u nuts. Thanks
  2. Regarding the quicker reloads and the 38 special-short and long colt thang. Is it more because you can insert the rounds quicker or more so because on ejection the throw on the ejector is only about .952. If so, only the short and super get it clean. Does the special and long colt hang? As far as bullet jump/stabilization. The end of the cylinder on my 627 runs about .359 with a land of around .260. Seems a .358 bullet would stabilize some since we are only talking .0005 per side. This is coming from a bottom feeder that has yet to shoot one round through a revo since I am waiting on the &^*% reloading dies and it is winter and I am basically bored.
  3. Sure use the picture. Hmmm, if you do use it, I get a free trigger job on my next Revo.
  4. Gave my new box stock PC627 8x to Mike and just got her back. My first impression of the trigger was " Whoa! this is going to be fun" it is just beautiful. Know this is nothing new just thought I would share. Thanks Mike
  5. Fenwick: I have shot a couple of the steel matches at Ankeny and it was a good time with my 2011's--- just had to try revo's also. I would like to try Winterset and OOPS---dont they shoot USPSA?? Have never shot that type of match, would be fun. Thx
  6. Toolguy: Perfect, that is what I was looking for. Thx
  7. Who knows the barrel twist rate on the 627. Just bought a new one and setting it up for steel--at Mike C.'s right now. Curious to know what bullet weight would be optimum for accuracy. Know each gun has its own personality and sure I will try all the weights and configs anyway. Thx

    Mover ?

AllGood: Whoa thanks for that reply almost feel guilty asking this question and making you write so much. Will save this thread to digest. Appreciate it.
  9. Question on the mover. Shot my first action pistol match at pioneer gun club during the regional match and had a great time. I was shooting open mod and had no clue on the mover. When you guys shoot it do you ride the X ring a bit before u fire or bring the dot into the X and fire kinda like shooting skeet swinging through target. Know you guys have a mover sight and know I must lead in open mod--currently having an open pistol being made. On the other stages I felt good but the mover looked like I shot it with a shotgun. Walked away from that stage laughing at myself Sheesh!! Found out your gun must run 100% or forget it. Thx
  10. Listen to Jay. He knows as much about building AP guns here as anyone. I will second that. Jay is currently rebuilding my SS Caspian into an action pistol. He fitted it with a KART. Here is a group he did with it @ 50. He must be doing something right.
  11. Hi Doug: Yes it is and so is my FF 9mm from Benny. All I need now is for you guys to use bigger steel target's at this years match and I will be all set. Oh yeah weld up those doughnut holes on the round plates :-)
  12. Thought you guys might like a picture and a quick take on my steel 9mm that I just received from Benny. First off I love this pistol. Weighs right around 38 or 39 ounces-Ti Comp-Schuelman barrel-lightened slide-ion bond etc etc. Ask Benny to make it tight and he did just that absolutely NO movement at lock up. VERY accurate I have run zeros, xtp 115-125 through it with N320-330-350-3n37-7625-4756 just playen and all shot great, really didnt favor one-- 135 to 140 PF. For grins I went with my daughter to shoot her 22 rifle and took the 9mm with light loads N320 @ 3.8 grains 125 zero with a light spring. That is the load I used at 25 yards with the target I posted-- couple flyers by me. The dot didnt leave the lens with the light load. Course my daughter 12 yrs old wanted to shoot it at the plate rack had 12 rounds left. First round at 10yd missed one cleaned the second stood the plates up again to see if she would flinch with no round in pistol--went click and barrel absolutely still---Dang 8-) So far everything ran. Wouldnt change a thing. Thanks Benny
  13. Thanks "A.P." decided on the S.S. and Aimpoint
  14. Thanks for the good information--for those that have used both the Pride/Fowler and the Aimpoint. Do they both hold their poi adjustment equally well? Which lens is bigger or about the same. Externally around the perimeter of the scope which is less cluttered--guess what I am asking is which is cleaner to look through-- use to a c-more. Looks like the Stick Shift for sure--like the 4 multi reticle option. Have to get Jays take on it also.
  15. Jay Della Bella is converting my Caspian SS to a Bianchi Pistol. He has the Gilmore shroud and I need to figure out which mover sight to install. I am leaning toward the Stick Shift and either an Aimpoint or a Pride/Fowler Rapid Reticle?? The Gilmore/Leo sight would be nice but it seems they can be problematic and I am not able to have a few on hand in case one fails. Thanks
  16. Thanks guys for your input. Also seems if you exhale a bit and relax one can get to the gun faster. Guys that have done martial arts know about going from loose to tight for speed. That would apply to position 1 just a thought.
  17. How do you guy’s breathe just before the beep goes off on a surrender draw. Is it good to fill the lungs up on the “RU Ready Standby” command so you can slowly exhale to relax the body and drop the shoulders? This lets you go from loose to tight on the beep through position 1 and 2. Or better to breath naturally and forget about it.
  18. Thought you guys might like a few pic's of my new FF 9mm that Benny made for me. Just got it last week. Very happy with it, course you know how well his pistols perform. Will enjoy this one.
  19. Thanks guys that is what I am looking for.
  20. My shooting buddies shoot Bianchi/Action Pistol I would like to join them and I dont want to mess up my open steel gun by installing a shroud. Can you guys give me a list of specific builders--have already tried Nowlin and Gilmore with no luck. Seems finding a Pistol or Smith is about as hard as hitting the mover. Thanks Guys
  21. Like to hear how she shoots for you. Think my steel load might be N320@3.3 with 147 XTP and OAL 1.145 to 1.155. VERY accurate.
  22. Thanks for all of your input. Answered my question.
  23. Thanks HSMITH if you have the U die in 9mm and a good toolmakers caliper would you measure the ID of the case after sizing or better yet a ball guage and micrometer. Just curious.
  24. Have full Redding Competition Pro Titanium Die sets for 9mm and 40 S&W. Regarding setbacks using fast powder such as n310 and Clays. Know of Lee undersize and FCD. Do I need the Lee dies--I feel Redding's are about as good as they get. I have cycled a loaded round about 10x and measured the length with no change and shot N320 no problems--course slower powder. Wonder if anyone knows the sizing dimensions of Lee and Redding on cases and your input. Thx
  25. Nice--looks good with the silver trim. You will have a fun time shooting it. I have around 1300 rounds through my new one and no problems. Look forwsrd to your shooting review.
