In addition, if the FP spring is too weak, you could lose the FP stop along with the FP during the fire. Happened to me luckily  during my practice. Also If the FP stop just slips down a little during the fire because of the weak spring it would prevent a hammer from moving freely causing slowing down the slide movements. You would have all kinds of malfunctions because of this. Also happened to me and I could not figure out why my gun was not working for awhile. Those springs are no go in my opinion.

Having said that, some people in pursuing super light trigger pull are using those springs together with 8# main springs. This is unnecessary in my opinion and compromises reliability (And safety) while achieving nothing.

That has happened to me too. I use a dab of blue loctite to between the firing pin stop and the slide to prevent that from happening again. It  holds securely yet is easy to remove the plate when necessary.

  2. Shadow2 here. Campro 147’s, VV320, Federal small pisol primers, one inch groups at 25m from a sand bag using a Vortex Venom. The gun might even do better from a Ransom Rest. All factory parts except for my spring tuning.

  3. I do the plunk and spin test in my Shadow2. Then I back off a hair.  I load everything as long as possible. Never had a problem. Tack driver.

I’m under the impression that the recoil spring in combination with the amount of powder you’re loading is what determines how the slide cycles. Loading lower power loads for me has translated into less recoil, but is less recoil = to softer recoil? For me, the less recoil meant slower recoil with reduced power loads (loads at the very low end of what will still cycle a slide).

    .................................

The hammer spring also affects “perceived recoil” to a degree since it has to be compressed to  cock the hammer as the slide moves rearward. I dont feel much if any push backwards in recoil but I do notice muzzle jump. i find that heavier bullets seem to have less muzzle jump than lighter bullets.

I’m going to end up doing a full test on the various springs, this spring, it’s bloody cold right now.  I did some tests already with the CGW 10 vs stock and the gun settles quicker with the 10#, I have a video with 1” lines marked on a back board to show the difference.  What load are you running with your 147’s?  I’m using 231 3.5gn.  Are your older version S2’s showing any signs of frame cracking?  Mine did, warrentied for a new one.  The optic ready S2’s have been milled with a relief for the slide stop.

I shot S1 for 15ish years. This is my first S2. Bought at Tenda in Sept.when they were on sale for $1140. No problems ever with either except for shot out barrels in S1. Off the top of my head I use 3.7 VV320 seated as long as possible with the plunk test @ 880 fps. I don’t care really about dot jump, what I care about is how stable is the dot when it comes back.No bounce or jiggle. I can get 15-17 splits with a lighter spring but i am happy with 20 cuz the dot is so stable at 20. Brass lands about 6 feet away. I use the factory supplied shock buffs.

Ouch!  25% more?  I picked one of mine up in Jan 2019 for $1199 CDN and the second one in September for $1149 CDN from Tenda Canada on sale.  My non-optic I pais $1249.  The early model S2 came with dove tail rear sight?    That’s a cool research project you’re undertaking with the optic.  The nice thing with Vortex is their no quibble like time warrenty.  Personally I hate the SRO and don’t enjoy shooting it as much as the DPP with the Delta reticle, but that’s just preference, the SRO is a bomber optic.   CGW had at one time created a multi-optic mounting plate, but no longer.  I think because the optic S2is too heavy for USPSA and has not been sold in the USA as of yet that I know of.  What recoil spring are you planning on using after your test?  I’ve got a 10lb progressive currently and a 9lb coming.

Funny how people prefer different springs. i tested my S2 OR with Venom 6moa with 8-9-10-12-14# springs and a few clipped springs. I was surprised, 14# suits me best. Dot barely moves and settles perfectly for me. 147 grain bullet. Splits are about.20 at 15m with A hits.

I shoot IPSC Production with my Shadow 2. Due my age I wear glass for reading (+1.25 dioptree) and when there is not enough light or the targets are too far, I have some bad results ...... as a consequences of not seeing well the front sight. I m thinking that shooting in Production Optics with Shadow 2 will solve this issues.

For this I will need a new pistol or only a new mounted plated. Here is prohibited milled the slide. So please tell me the diferences between the Shadow 2 Optical Ready and Shadow 2 regular with mounted plated for red dot. If I ll buy the Shadow OR will give me some notable benefits over my curent one with the new mounted plated?

Shadow2 optic ready with the factory plate will put the optic  lower on the slide. I like mine. Very sleek and solid.I use the Vortex Venom 6moa.

    I did

I did, along with the floating pin.  What I haven't done yet is install the travel limit set screws on the trigger (those little things are tough to get started!), but that shouldn't impact break weight right?

I'm also wondering if I can trust my wheeler gauge.  When I hang a 5# weight from it it does read about exactly that, but I still don't trust it.  I may buy another just to put my mind at ease.

As far as lubrication, okay to just put a drop of gun oil right on the top of the sear cage assembly and let it leak down in?

travel limit screw is irrelevant to trigger pull weight. You can oil the crap out of that gun without hurting anything. Try a lighter hammer spring to reduce trigger pull, or clip a 15# till u get to 5.5# da and use a reduced firing pin spring to prevent light strikes. My S2 uses 15# hammer spring minus 5 coils, my trigger pull is 5.5da/2.25 sa.

Hello!  What a great thread this is. I'm a newbie to the site and CZs, but used this thread to do the CGW Short Reset and Reduced Reach kits in my SP-01.  This made it VERY easy.  My pull is higher than I expected though, and wondering if anyone might have advice.  With the 13# blue spring my DA is still well over the 8# limit of my Wheeler pull gauge, and my SA is right around 4.25-4.5#.  I didn't go crazy polishing but did all the areas in Atlas's original post with 800 grit followed up with a quick once over with flitz.  Any idea why i might still be like a pound or so higher than what everyone else seems to be getting?  I mentioned in an earlier post that even after just doing the firing pin, spring, and FPB block spring my DA seemed to go up a bit, despite the plunger being glassy smooth in its travel.  Is it possible it's just a lubrication issue?

All guns are a bit different. Lube wouldn’t hurt but did u install a reduced power trigger return spring?

Love the trigger on my Shadow 2 but would like to get the pull weight down. Would like SA to be in the low 2# range. DA I'd be happy with anything under 6#. I see the the CGW kit will get me down into the high 2# to low 3# range on the SA pull. Can this be massaged to get the pull weight lower or do I need to look for a different configuration? New to the CZ family so not sure what all of my options are.

    Thanks

My S2 trigger is 5.5 d/a and 2.25 s/a.  I cut 5 coils off a 15# hammer spring, bent the trigger return spring back as far as the slide stop hole in the frame a few times, and cut  3 coils off the firing pin spring to prevent lite strikes.Put a dab of blue loctite between the firing pin retaining plate and the slide . Ignites CCI primers 100%. Reset from the factory is about 2.5mm. No creep after 1000 rounds.

  11. Happy with my Shadow 2 OR, happy with the vortex venom, the mounting plate not so much. It fits well and is solid but i wish they had built out the sides a bit and milled in some cocking serrations on the plate. Does anyone know of any aftermarket plates that might have cocking serrations ?

  12. I use a 15# Wolff hammer spring in my Shadow2. I remove coils until the d/a is 5.5# for ipsc purposes. This results in 2.25  -2.5# s/a . There is a definite wall there and I like to prep the trigger. I bend the trigger return spring for reduced power and I bend it back if I need to. Never broke one. I clipped the firirng pin spring to reduce power. Extended firing pin not necessary as this set up ignites CCI primers 100%. I used this same set up in my Shadow 1’s since they were released about 12 or 15 years ago. We had no reduced power springs or extended fp springs back in the day so we had to be inventive. Short reset disconnectors make me laugh.
