  1. We are getting down to the last couple weeks before the match. We still have some half day shooting slots open on the weekend. There are only a couple days to get your registration in before the cutoff for the tshirt order. If your just sending it out or plan on sending out your registration this week, send me an email with your name address and shirt size. Ill make sure you get one for competing at the match. After Thursday, Ill have the order in and youll be out of luck. As far as what shooting slots are available, look at the self squadding page on USPSA.org website under member services for whats still open. The self squadding will be locked as of the 17th. If your just sending in your registration, please indicate what shooting schedule or squad # you would like to shoot on. The grey areas on the squad matrix are locked. You can only pick whats available as of the end of today. As of right now, the only available slots are for Sat AM/ Sun AM or Friday. Good luck and see you all on the range, Harry.
  2. Universal Ammo will be the Official Match Ammo for the 2013 EGW Area 8 Championship. This ammo qualifies as match ammo and is governed under our current edition of the USPSA rule book section C3 and approved by the USPSA President. Please indicate when ordering this ammo that its for the Area 8 match. The ammo will be shipped to the event and given out at registration. Please send me an email to hf219@comcast.net and let me know that you have ordered it. Ill let you know when we receive it. Thanks, H! You can order the Official Match Ammo Directly from them at Universal Ammo: http://www.universalammo.com/
  3. I thought Id also mention we still have some slots open for weekend shooting split half day formatting. I know there are people who for some reason like to wait till the last minute. All I can say is registration has been open since March 5th. So if your on the fence and a weekend format is what you need, then dont wait. Get your application in asap, you can see what is available at the uspsa self squadding page found here: http://www.uspsa.org/squadding/index.php?action=list&indx=246 Thanks, H!
  4. The stages for this years match have been posted on the Area 8 Website and the Area 8 Facebook page. Please keep in mind, the stages descriptions may be changed upon final drafting of the WSB. Ill be a little preoccupied over the next several days and wanted to get these out to everyone. Good luck to everyone, as always DVC! H! Links to the two sites: you can find the stages under the announcements page on the Area 8 Website. https://www.facebook.com/groups/USPSAArea8/ https://sites.google.com/site/uspsaarea8/home
  5. We will be having two side matches at this years match! The first will be a Steel Challenge Stage ( stage to be determined). This side event will be held up where the main match will be taking place. The SC side match will benefit the American Cancer Society. Zach Matish has dedicated his season to his grandmother who has suffered from Breast Cancer. The donation will be made in Zach's team name "Bullets For Boobies"! We will also be having a shotgun side match down by the club house (COF yet to be determined, should be a 9 round COF). No buckshot or slugs, 7.5 shot size or smaller is only allowed. This side event will benefit our Area 8 Juniors. BOTH SIDE MATCHES WILL BE A CASH PAYOUT!!!!! 50% of the proceeds will go to benefit these two great causes. The other half will be paid back to the competitors for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall. Competitors can shoot the side match as many times as they like for score. We have had great success in the past with the side match and look forward to making this years even better. Please make sure you pencil some time in for these events either prior, during or after you shoot the main match. If your not shooting the main match, you can still participate in the side matches. Please make sure you check in at registration prior to bringing any firearms up to the side events. You will need to sign a release form in order to shoot either match. Remember the entire property is considered a "COLD RANGE". No loaded firearms, uncased/unholstered firearms are permitted on the facility property. This includes the parking lot area as well. Handling of any firearms must be done so at a safe table or under the direct supervision of a match range official.
  6. There are still a few weekend slots still available. Not for long though, I've been getting swamped with phone calls and emails asking to hold them. Unfortunately we can't do that, the match is a first come first serve basis. If you want a slot for the weekend get your apps sent in ASAP before they are gone. If your a sponsored competitor and your sponsor is supporting the match, please get your apps in NOW! We will only be holding the reserved sponsor slots for a very short period before we release them to the general pool. The stages should be approved and ready to be posted within the next couple weeks. Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to work this match and our sponsors who have supported. H!
  7. I believe the FC stamp on the federal case is their Non Toxic Ammo. Those cases will always cause me a malfunction trying to seat a new primer. I usually toss those to the side, Federal brass is all Ill use, the nickel cases I wont use just because I don't see nearly as many as them as I do the brass Federal cases. Ive used Federal for years and still see some FC cases pop up, they are still around.
  8. On a good note, we will have 10 stages with a round count just a few shy of 300. Just doing some tweaking of the stages, then once approved they will be posted. Thanks for your patience, H!
  9. Ok, we have 2 Sat PM/ Sun AM slots left, 18 Sat AM/ Sun AM slots left after that, well the weekend will be sold out. We have plenty of Friday Slots as well. Just making the announcement as every year within the next month I will have people trying to get a weekend slot that doesnt exist. If you know anyone that wants in, you might want to do them a solid and tell them to get their app in asap.
  10. We have 26 slots left for the weekend on this match. After that we will only have Friday slots up for grabs. Pass the word, they are going fast. If you have sent in your registration, dont forget YOU will have to squad yourself on the self service squadding at USPSA.org. Please check that page to see if your name is on it as unsquadded. If you didnt get a pin# to squad yourself then you can contact Rob Burkindine at jeepwerkes@hotmail.com. Thanks, H!

  15. The stages are coming along nicely for the match. We have been fine tuning them and tweeking them for your shooting pleasure! LOL! The weather is supposed to be in the mid 80's for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I want to thank, Lew Walker, Rob Karp, BJ Karp, Seth Long, Tiffany Gonsman, Phillip, GG, Mike Spencer, Harold Wolf, Troy Hayes, Steve and Cindy Thomas, Kelly Cobean, Ethan Cobean, Frank Hum, Vince Seivert, Allen Pfeifer, Josh Crowley, Scott Crowley, Matt Simmons and David Sinnott. These are the folks that have contributed to building this match since Saturday when we started. These VOLUNTEERS have chipped in and helped out to make our 2012 EGW Area 8 Championship happen. When you see them on the range, give them an applause and thank them for contributing their time. When you see Rob Burkindine, Lew Walker, Maksim Netrebov or the Money Man, just remember these gentlemen and THANK THEM, these are the guys that brought the match to the the point you show up and get registered! They are the operation center of this match and without them we wouldnt have so much fun. I also want to thank George Jones for being the Range Master this year and OF COURSE ALL OF OUR EXCELLENT STAFF!!!!!! These folks have sacrificed their vacation time, personal day, sick time, comp time and time from their families all for our sake!!!!!!!!! Remember that when you walk onto a stage this weekend. Everyone one of our volunteers has sacrificed something to be at this match, I just cant thank them enough. Thats where you all come in, thanks, have a great match and see you on the range! H!
  16. Hello and welcome to the 2012 EGW Area 8 Championship. The match is coming along nicely and we will be having 12 stages 254 rounds plus chrono this year. We have a record breaking 360 competitors registered for the match and look forward to giving you the show you all deserve. The directions to the range and match book links are located below. If you want or need a copy of the match book at the event, please print out a copy for yourself. We couldn't make this match happen without our sponsors, please consider using them when you make your next purchase. Fredericksburg in August is typically hot if you haven't been to our event before. Hydration is key, you will need to start hydrating yourself at least a day in advance if not sooner than that. We will have plenty of shade and water on each stage for you. Even with that, you must start hydrating yourself before you compete and especially during the match. We will also have alot of staff working the match this year. This should help with stage resetting and give you an opportunity to recover. Please be advised that you are still required to help set steel & tape targets (after they've been scored, lol). If you are registered and or squadded for the match, take a moment and check what squad you are on. Also verify the time schedule you are shooting and when you need to be at the range. All squads are limited to 12 competitors, with no exceptions. Please don't miss your scheduled time to shoot, as the alternative remedy will not be pleasant for you and or the staff. The prize table will be a random double blind drawing conducted prior to the event. All prizes will be distributed to competitors at registration. Make sure you check your division, USPSA #, class and scoring (minor or major) at registration. We will be using palm scoring as usual at this years match. The results will be posted to the USPSA.org web site at the end of each day. You will be given a record of your hits after completion of each stage. Remember that the palm is the only official record of score, not your receipt, make sure that the hits and or penalties are recorded accurately on the palm at the completion of scoring. The staff will review the scoring with you at that time not during scoring. Parking will be at the top of the hill from the shooting bays near the skeet fields. No parking for competitors will be allowed down near the shooting bays. Please remember to keep your speed at 5mph on the road coming into the range. There is a soccer field and residential homes located on the range road. Please watch for children and be considerate of our neighbors. We will have a competitor briefing at 930 am Thursday morning, 730 am on Friday & Saturday morning. Also a 1230 pm competitor meeting for the afternoon squads on Saturday. Eye protection is mandatory on all of Fredericksburg Rod & Gun clubs property, including the parking lot. We will have a food vendor at the range and yes it will be the same one we had last year, Crazy Jacks. Thank you for attending and competing at this years match sincerely, the Area 8 Staff. match book https://docs.google.com/file/d/0ByaE1z6HZigGSDI2djFFaU80VGM/edit?pli=1 Range address https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=210835242473978827741.000488129f7fe016734d2&t=m&z=6&vpsrc=0&iwloc=00048aad02eb8d6745594&f=d&daddr=Fredericksburg+Rod+%26+Gun+Club+Inc+%4038.228126,-77.44238

  20. This match will be a blast. If anyone has shot at CJ, you know this will be a good time. If anyone has ever wanted to wander into the Republic of NJ and shoot a match this is as good a time as ever. With Production division growing to be the most dominantly filled division in our sport, this will be the match to compete in.
