I have to agree with everything said here so far. I just recently got back from the World Championships where i was part of the setup crew and Stats Crew. I can tell you that after driving for 24 hours, setting up stages for 5 days and setting up the Stats shack I was exhausted by the time it was my turn to shoot. Did i have any advantage by setting up the stages? Heck no. We concentrate on setup, safety and asthetics so their is no time to "Game". you move on the the next task and i can tell you that by the end of each day i couldn't remember much of anythng i did except that for most of the day i was hot, sticky, wet thirsty and hungry. As far as cheating on score i have to tell you that if i caught someone doing that in the stats shack i would do everything in my power to get them kicked out of our sport. I Florida their were 6 of us scoring. we each touched an average of 3000 to 4000 score sheets. we do not have time to look at anything but the data. with an average of 8 key strokes per sheet we did an incredible job of keeping up and posting as fast as we did. Mike Critser and I also shot the match so we also made sure that we did not have anything to do with entering our own scores. I someone claims that SO's have an advantage i challenge their qualifications to make a statement like that. Walk in my shoes first. JMO YMMV

DOUBLE TAP CHAMPIONSHIP 2010
doncannon replied to scorch's topic in Match Announcements - Pistol Only - USPSA, IPSC & Misc.
Not quite...this would need to be done in layers with small and large aggregate to make a good bed. And remember that this will also compact and need to be added to periodically. The "MUD" will suck up this stuff pretty fast in my opinion but it is A solution. Just not sure if it is THE solution. During the Mmatch Robert mentioned that he was working on a solution to this very issue......Give him time. -
DOUBLE TAP CHAMPIONSHIP 2010
doncannon replied to scorch's topic in Match Announcements - Pistol Only - USPSA, IPSC & Misc.
Wow....now stage 1 shows Tammy as the winner. She told a lot of folks that the time posted was incorrect. I guess it did not get to stats in time before prelims were posted. I hope this is fixed so we can see where we really finished out as. -
I guess what I am getting at here is that for whatever reason......some....shooters shoot a classifer way below their skills. Should we not have a specific rule in place to correct this. The only time I could see this happening is the above situation. A shooter wins his class....................BUT........................also would have one the higher class!!!!! Is this a true representation of a persons skills? did this person shoot Phenomally? maybe.....but still? The reason I bring this up is that I have seen this occurance more than once and I trust others have also. I guess we could look at the "no lower than 1 class" option again but it does not account for higher class "other discipline" shooters who rarely if ever shoot IDPA. I have a stake....and maybe a gripe....in this cuz it has happened to me personally twice. Maybe I am biased. You folks tell me if I am way off base here.....Thats why I bring it up.

What should be allowed when a competitor finishes in a class yet also beats every other competitor in the next class above? I have seen this happen a few times and it is usually a competitor who either seldom or never has competed at a sanctioned match before or rarely shoots IDPA. An example is a recent State match where a competitor beat the second place shooter in his class by about 34 seconds. My opinion is that the competitor should be raised in class at that match....i.e... the class winner in the class above and then bumped if there are enough competitors per IDPA rules.

There are still slots on friday. Go to their website. -
To the whole ounce, so every competitor had 9/10's fudge factor as I understand.

You did not state what day or time you shot but as a working SO for this match I can clearly state that there was no chance to you were squaded on a morning squad and left at 1830 hours with 5 stages left to shoot. If you shot on Saturday, the day of a 2.5 hour delay from the AD, and left at 1830 i'm not sure how you still had 5 stages left as I am pretty sure that we were finished and back at the match hotel by 1915 hrs. Maybe I am remembering wrong. You also stated the the "Stages were very good" On another note, your sig says that you are both an RO and a SO instructor so you of all people understand the need for complete understanding of all Cof's by every competitor proir to actually "making ready" and shooting a stage. To give every competitor an equal and fair chance we made sure that there was complete and absolute understanding of our stage before any competitor started on the clock. With that we only had 2 instances where another squad showed up before our current squad was completed. And that was in 3 days of shooting. JMO YMMV

As I understand it, these were the folks that never showed up to shoot the match. We started with 279 competitors and finished with about 240 cpmplete. Don

I understand that the "coffin" might appear this year. I can't wait. If you folks have never been to this match i gotta tell you that this was the best match that I attended all year. Frank and company really rolled out the welcome mat and took great care of all of us and even signed my card personally when I got bumped.... Don -
