  1. I have used a lot of both brands. Aside from some I bought last winter and tried to use well into this summer the ISMI have been far better. I had a really bad batch of 8# springs, and some 11# springs that were bad too. One mainspring went soft. The 8's wouldn't run my Open gun or any other Open gun for even 200 rounds in a couple instances and they all went soft within about 500 rounds, they went down to about 4# and the gun is just too tight for it. I went through 4 of them in my gun, and 4 more in other guns. I ended up going back to the original 8# spring that was in my gun when it was built, well over 30K rounds on it and it runs great. I bought some more but I am afraid to use them until I can get out and do a little shooting, my only shooting is in matches and I can't afford gun problems. Wolff springs don't last either and that is why I tried ISMI in the first place. So, the bad experiences with both brands have me conflicted. Historically I have had a lot better luck with ISMI so I will be sticking with them for now, hopefully the ones I had problems with were and isolated batch since they were all purchased at the same time.

I just got my IMM out of the shop I have been told to run a 6lb progressive recoil spring. OK, I give up where are they?

  2. Let's hear it for Brandon Strayer! He completly rebuilt my IMM and only charge a small fraction of the overall invoice. Customer service was also outstanding! Thanks again Brandon!

  3. I have a 16" Bushmaster M-4 and want to start loading for it. Before anyone gets on thier high horse, I did the search and read all I could. Several questions come to mind still. Is AA2230-S ok for 55grn fmjbt? What charge weight? Do once fired cases generally need trimmed? What do I need for my 650XL with casefeeder? Thanks for your help!

  4. Yep, mine is the same way. Nothing, nothing, nothing, a little, everything! Mine is only a six dot so I run it all the way up so isn't an issue but if it was a 10 or 12 I would most likely send it back to be checked/fixed.

I just got one back from C-More, $25.00 plus shipping for a new switch. Mine, however, quit working entirely. I have four others, they have very little adjustment. I think this might be the nature of the beast!

Congratulations Stuart, now go for the open GM card. Watching you shoot a racegun is what inspired me to go to the dark side. Only problem is I suck!

  6. Ok. Another 300 rounds today. 1 FTE. Empty left in the pipe. Brass was a piece of CCI and there was an obvious witness mark where the extractor had grabbed SOME of the interior of the rim. The brass case gauged without issue.

The aftec doesn't clock on the firing pin stop, but does move freely back and forth on the pin with the spring and cap removed. I spoke with Derek today and he kindly offered to tune the extractor in the gun. I'm going to send the extractor to him to check over and replace it with the original STI piece and see if there's any difference in performance.

    Thanks for the help.

Venry, how are you doing? It's good to see (read) you hear again. I have missed your insight to all the perplexing problems of the pistol!

  7. What is the feeling out there of allowing shootthroughs at a major match or for that matter ANY match. I sometimes see shooters, some more than others (who will remain anonyomous) do this without lifting a finger to help. Also does it impact the integretiy of the match in that if forces the rest of the shooters to wait? Thanks for the replies..

  8. I think the size of your hands only determins how far back the rest needs to go, not very much what type.

I like the rest because it gives me a more consistent grip, with my LH thumb on the same spot every time. I've been told I shouldn't use it to hold the recoil or anything like that, because it would do more bad than good to dot tracking and consistency than it does recoil elimination.

Recoil will be there nomatter what we do with the gun, its just a matter of learning to live with it and make it the same for every shot. Now I'll be the first to say I'm not quite there yet, because I tense up when I f*#k up, and that really shows on my follow up shots...

Try Venry's rest from Radical Precision Design, I have tried most of them out there and his is my favorite. Comfortable and looks GOOD.

  9. SSOTS is cool but with the surge in owners it might have to be the NSSSOTS (Not so secret society of Tanfoglio Shooters) I see t-shirts with some tanfos on it and a big pic on the back of Henning wearing a Lone Ranger mask.

Yup, I see a "special" match in the making, maybe at Weld. The match would allow only Tan shooters and payback zillions of dollars!

  10. So... this is post 198... on the EAA / Tanfoglio Forum

If someone can come up with an interesting post and refreshing post for nr 200 I'll do a special 30% off or something special for the person who can come up with something original and interesting on a #200 Thread anniversary. Nr 199 and nr 201 doesn't mean anything (at least for just this shits and giggles).. it's all about post / thread nr 200... he he ;-D. Let's see where the #200 thread leads us... be original and if so.. rewarded.

How about starting the Secret Society of Tanfoglio shooters. We are starting to see more and more of them thanks to you!

  11. The only honorable thing to do is to DQ on purpose at the next match (but make it look accidental), then stick around and tape targets to redeem yourself.

I like that, but let's take it one step further. Come down to CO on the 19th of April and brass for the Rocky Mountain 300, at a minimum, you will only pick up about 30,000 pieces of brass, more realistically it will be about 45,000!!!!

  12. For you folks that have not seen our range, you are in for a treat! We have restrooms with running water, heat, showers and six of them. We have a large covered dining/awards section with about 25 picnic tables. The berms are mostly sand/gravel but we are hydro-seeding the sides and backs this month. Dan will put on a match that will not only mimic the real Steel Challange complete with CASH, Paques and lots of random prizes.

Come on out and give it a try!

  13. Chris,

Up at my club I would have DQed him. But we start every match with a "New Shooter Meeting" solely to avoid the gray area like this one.

We give the new shooters a very direct and to the point intro to USPSA. I let them know that breaking any of those rules WILL result in the short course!!!

So please be very careful and ask us for anything at all. We also thank them for coming out to see what all the buzz is about.

    Just my .02 :)

Forgot to mention, that ALL new shooters at our club undergo a safety class that lasts 2 or 3 hours of instruction, both in the classroom and on the range. Not just a cursory introduction.

  14. Chris, I would have asked the RO what happened, and then discussed it with him from there. I don't know a single RO or MD in CO that I would be hesitant to approach.

Well.... OK, maybe one, but just that one. :D

Sean, I hope I am not the "one", I try not to be a a**hole or range Nazi. Since I am usually the RO and the MD if a shooter would to do that I would NOT DQ him, but rather take 20 seconds and explain to him WHY that is not acceptable behavior.

The future of USPSA is juniors and new shooters. With the price of fuel, reloading compentants, ammo etc. (general inflation) I am not seeing the quantity of new shooters we used to see a few years ago.

OK, since I would let the shooter off the hook, as long as SAFETY was not compromised, go ahead and give me your best shot!

  15. I'm so mad. I recently found out that my favorite bullet for my 9 is no longer being made. I love 108 gr Jacketed soft points for my 9x23 supers. Does anyone know of a similar product?

The the load my daddy conjured for me with that bullet is like the holy grail for my pistol. I'm pretty pissed.

What kind of powder are you running? How much? What length of bbl? What have you got for a comp? Any blow holes?
