  1. I signed up in Carry Optics division at a Level I match in Colorado today, using the same equipment I've been shooting for a year now; XDM 5.25 and DeltaPoint all other Production Rules applied.

So if I am reading the results correctly you were 1 out of 79 shooters that shot WO.

And you best several Open Masters.

Why exactly do you just not shoot open? Your example proves to me WO is not needed

Actually his example proves that Open is not needed. Why spend $4k on a race blaster when you can do just as well or better with a sub $1k plastic fantastic?

  2. I think I'm starting to understand the relationship.

What I still don't understand is why we have an entirely different rulebook and completely different divisions in the US.

probably because ipsc rules are dumb and not as fun.

Some people in the rest of the world believe the same thing...........................about USPSA rules.

  3. I'm a lefty that shoots an SP01 in Prod. I've never had the need to use the slide stop during a match. I don't intentionally shoot to slide-lock, and if that does happen, slamming a mag in will drop the slide. To manually lock the slide back I hold the gun in my left hand, grab the slide with my right, pull back and use my right thumb on the slide lock.

I didn't really answer your question - I'm just curious as to why you 'kind of like to have the ambi slide stop...'

  4. If they didn't want it to work, they could of just voted No. So I doubt they are going to put all this effort into something they are hoping fails. I think they are just trying to be careful and not allow it to turn into Open 10.

Not necessarily. Continually voting NO will piss off people, claiming the BOD won't even give it a chance. By voting YES, a portion will be happy. The weight limit purposely eliminates half the guns currently used in Production, and by giving it until Jan 2016 doesn't give it much of a chance to get off the ground. They didn't put any effort into this decision - they want it to fail and go away.

  5. With this weight limit it appears that it will prohibit a lot of the metal framed guns, so maybe the intent here is to even the playing field a little. I wonder if the BOD thinks that the metal framed guns have too much of an edge in Production and so want to make a more polymer friendly division ?

So in other words, the BOD doesn't really want this to work at all.

  6. Does the DAA require modification to the block (mentioned above) or are you talking about a different version ?

Does the DAA require modification to the block (mentioned above) or are you talking about a different version ?

It requires a tiny bit of fitting yes, but I used my mini file set and about 15 minutes of file, check, file check and it is perfect.

Go to 1:25 in the video.

  7. I am currently looking to switch to CZ platform. I have been debating which one is the most competition ready (out of box) for USPSA production/IDPA SSP (no accu or target version as a result).

    Between the CZ Custom (91030) - http://czcustom.com/shadowcustom2014blk.aspx

And the Automatic Accuracy (Mink) build - http://automaticaccuracy.net/?wpsc-product=deposit-for-sp-01-shadow-built-by-automatic-accuracy

I cannot make up my mind. The Mink build supposedly gives me more options, e.g. sights, safety, trigger, etc. but it is $200 more than the CZC version. And the CZC version probably already got the optimal/most popular options already.

Anyone has more insights as to which version fits me best? Thanks.

I don't think any of us can tell you which version fits you best. Everyone can tell you how much they like their own gun, or why they went with a particular gun, but not which one will be be better for you. That's all on you. Both guns are competition ready. Both are built by reputable shops. One costs a few dollars more, but not enough that it's a deal breaker. What are the wait times for each, and how impatient are you?

  8. Is there a point or advantage to putting it on hold for a few months? A few yrs ago I moved across country. Between packing/moving/renting/buying/moving again/unpacking & setting up my current loading room - I didn't shoot for 10 months. Nothing was put on hold, I just wasn't active for a while.

    Did you ask?

Ask for what? All classifiers are on record from the day I joined USPSA. As long as your membership doesn't lapse, not being active for a month or 6 months is the same thing - or am I missing something in the original post/question.

  9. Hi guys. I know this is a topic that has been covered a billion and a half times (approximately), but it seems like the question usually relates directly to switching between handgun and rifle calibers (at least the answers seem to take this into consideration).

I currently have a 550b that I've been very pleased with. I load handgun only, and currently only 9mm and .45 (although I may decide to begin loading .38 at some point as well). I have no plans to reload rifles anytime soon, as I don't get a chance to take my long guns out very often.

I'm trying to decide whether it would be advantageous to purchase the case feeder for the 550b or try to sell it and move into a 650xl instead. The auto-indexing seems like a pretty attractive feature, along with the possibility of adding a bullet feeder down the road, but I'm just not sure that there is enough of a difference between the machines to warrant the depreciation loss from the 550 sale and the purchase price of the 650 (especially once you factor in conversion kits for the case feeder and press).

I appreciate you guys taking the time to let me learn from your experience here - I know many of you have/had both presses and your input is valuable.

    Thanks!

    -Brian

Compare the cost of adding a casefeeder and a 38 conversion kit to your 550 with the cost of buying a 650 with casefeeder and conversions for 9/38/45 less what you can sell your 550 setup for. Then factor in your total estimated rounds per year.

  10. What I want to know is just how hard is it to hand feed 223 brass with a case feeder in place.

    The mods are easy.

Buy the small rifle plate for the casefeed hopper.

Buy the .223 (white) casefeeed adapter

But the 38supercomp guide for station #1.

You also need the .223 shellplate & buttons.

If you do a search, myself & others have posted on our specific setups & procedures.

Taking the casefeeder on & off is more trouble than it's worth. You really can't feed by hand with the casefeeder in place.

  11. Hey PMT. I think I like your idea better than mine. You only have to make one modification not one for each caliber, and, it's instant.

I didn't see pics on your post, so, I made this and took some pics. I'm pretty sure I followed your plan. Check my homework assignment.

One thing I noticed is that there is not a lot of room on the corner of the plunger, so, you only get to drill this hole once.

    Thanks.

It's just a #12 solid copper electrical wire with the insulation stripped off and it's bent so I can easily handle it.

You can see the hole in the corner of the flat part of the brass plunger where the wire sticks in.

Yep, that's what I did. I had a little flat bar with a pin in it that I used in place of your #12 wire. There is room to pull the plunger back even further against the spring, so you don't have to drill so close to the edge. Before I lock mine I have to pull back slightly.

  12. Are there brass shavings stuck in the chamber? Too much crimp? Are you checking your finished rounds in a chamber gauge? Have you checked sized/deprimed brass in a chamber gauge or in your chamber? Strip the gun & clean the chamber with a dental pick or some similar tool.
