Looks for Range (1/11)

1. Oh haha Even a picture of the completed installation from the "bottom" would be great.
2. I just started to install a Primer Xpress on my Evolution and what I bolded above has got me a little stumped... I removed the primer assembly and what remains are two operating arms with a spring- one for the index lever and one for the primer shuttle on the tube fed primer system. And there is another operating arm on the new Xpress. And I'm trying to figure out how all these arms go together! The Mark7 Xpress video on Utube only shows installation on an Apex 10 and there isn't a clear drawing in the Xpress instructions on how it all gets rigged up Any advice would be appreciated!
3. I should mention that I replaced the roller bolt and all seems good now. Great information folks!
4. I've loaded about 20K rounds on this press with no problem. Now the shellplate catches on the primer as it indexes. If there is no primer present, everything indexes perfectly. It's almost as if the primer is a tiny bit high in the primer cup and contacts the shellplate? If you just nudge the shellplate with your thumb it goes into place just fine. I've taken the primer system apart, played with it, cleaned it, etc. I'm using Federal Small magnum primers to load 357. Brass is all processed, decapped and sized. Just typing this I realized I should have just tried another primer to see if it does the same thing but I didn't think to do that at the time. But I've loaded abut 3000 rounds with these primers in 357 with no problem. And I've used Federal small and large primers to load 45 ACP as well. Pretty much only do 45 and 357 on this press. I took apart the primer cup/punch and played around with that as well. I'm sure it's something weird I am missing!
5. Thanks everyone, this has been a big help. I took off the index roller bolt as well and looked at it and sure enough it is bent. Also the roller bolt spring looks mangled so I'll try to find a suitable replacement. So that's probably causing some inconsistent wobbling on the index lever too. I think I'm just going to order a few of each bolt. I assume 3/8-5/16-18X1. 1/2 inch UNC is the designation for the lever bolt, do you also happen to know the same information for the roller bolt?
6. I did not know they bent. Doesn't look bent but that doesn't mean there isn't a small variance. Which I suppose could make things wobbly and unscrew the bolt. I'm guessing the only source for these bolts is Dillon? Not the end of the world but I'm in Canada so shipping from the USA seems to take forever these days.
7. I've got a RL1100 with a Mark 7 autodrive on it. The unit worked great for quite awhile- about 50K rounds. Then the index lever bolt kept working loose. If I tighten the bolt very hard, it's too tight to allow the return spring to operate. When I tighten it just good and snug- which is how I had it originally- it works itself loose. Shellplate will index great for the first dozen revolutions then start getting erratic and finally doesn't index enough and everything stops as the index pin hits the shellplate. I've tried a lock washer but that didn't have any effect. Any ideas on what to do? Locktite? Thank you for your help
8. I'm just about finished installing M7 sensors on my Dillon 1100. Last sensor to go on is the Powder Check. But the only instructions I can find appear to be for an older version. I've got this one: Mark 7® PowderCheck™ Sensor (markvii-loading.com) Anybody know how to set this up? Thanks
9. Fairly new machine with about 12 000 rounds loaded. I took it apart and cleaned it well after first 10K rounds. I had some but not many rounds with primers inserted crooked but now it seems like it's a consistent 2-3 rounds per 100 loaded. I removed the priming system and cleaned that again but the problem persists. I loosened then tightened down the shellplate the way Dillon suggests. It happens with CCI, Federal and Winchester brass. I suspected some primer crimp wasn't getting swaged enough so I slightly adjusted that to increase it a little bit but no change. If I pull the bullet then deprime and prime again the primer seems to go in well enough so the brass probably isn't the culprit. I have tried going quite slow and ensuring 100% consistent smooth operation but no difference. I'm thinking it has to be some slight inconsistency with shellplate or how the primer is presented in the cup holding he primer. I am using CCI small pistol primers. I will try Federal tonight and see if I have the same results. Any suggestions appreciated, thank you.
10. I was on hold for some time so never spoke to them. I will try again, but I assume their remedy would be to provide another case adapter- which is why I was looking at after market options if they are indeed a better solution.
11. I took it apart to try some of the ideas here but after fiddling around with it a bit I determined that the green shell adapter (I'm loading 9mm) was at fault. It doesn't protrude deep enough into the shuttle and so it allows the case above to interfere with the case being pushed forward. So I removed the adapter and just inserted the tube, and filled the tube with cases manually (as the tube without adapter is not long enough to attach to the upper part of the case feeder) The tube alone holds 20+ cases so I tried that. Ran through all cases without a stoppage and filled it a few more times until my 100 primers ran out- with no stoppages. So I think the solution is to completely dispense with the case adapter and just track down a longer tube of the same dimensions. I didn't have such a tube available so I attached the case adapter to the top of the tube and inserted that into the spring tube holder above and tried running that, and it actually worked pretty well with no stoppages on the shuttle and just a couple of cases hanging up where the adapter meets the tube. A tap with the fingers got those dropping. So it works as a stop gap measure but now I have to find a longer tube. I can't see any problem running it without an adapter but let me know if anyone does. I'm not planning on running anything but 9mm on this press. Thanks
12. I know this is an old thread but it's what the search turned up! I'm having a similar problem. My RL1100 is pretty much brand new but the case feed shuttle is driving me nuts. It will operate perfectly for a few dozen cases and then it will do a few things: Get hung up and not insert case all the way or not even really move from the "back" position Insert a case that gets jammed on the shellplate Insert a case that ends up crooked on shellplate. I decided to upgrade from my Hornady AP to the 1100 and the 1100 is great in most respects but the case feeder shuttle is annoying me. I've also seen a few aftermarket parts like the Entirely crimson Case Feeder Adapter Housing and wonder if these aftermarket parts might be the solution to better feeding. I'm going to go take it apart again and maybe try some of the suggestions above to start with but any other insight would be great. Thanks
