I am also having Glenn and Lone Star build up a double stack 1911 in 9mm for my 3 gun pistol and it will be very similar to what you have mentioned above (minus the threaded barrel). I am just getting the ball rolling with him but did have the chance to shoot a couple of .40s he built and was impressed. I am going to be using the Phoenix Trinity frame and aluminum dimpled grips.

I have been using Hornady 55 FMJ on everything but bought some 69 SMKs after the Fallen Brethern last October and having trouble on the long rifle stages past 400 with the wind like it was.

Just ordered one of these to rebarrel my 3 gun rifle. Anxious to see the improvement.

I am having a 2011 built up right now and will be switching from a G34. I love the glock, but the trigger for me on the 2011 is what sealed the deal.

Just got back from shooting the steel vs. aluminum and for me, the aluminum is the way to go. Going to have Glenn build one up for me, the wait officially begins now.

I have two bladetechs for my glock 34, both with the QLS attachments one them. One holster is for night matches that allows for a light and the other is sans light attachment. When I get a 2011, I will get another bladetech, no question.

Let us know what kind of load you work up with the AA2230 and 69g SMKs. I also use 2230 with 55 FMJs but haven't tried to use it with the 69s.

Go to lone star innovations dealer page, for pictures and other details of the P / T grips, it is scattered all over you just half to read a little and most of your question will be answered
I've been up and down his page and met with Glenn on Sunday and looked/handled at a few of his builds. I'm meeting with him tomorrow at the range to shoot the aluminum and steel grips to see which one I like better. I already have a design in mind and this is the last piece to decide on.

In my opinion you can't go wrong with the STI Aluminum grip for a 3 gun or IDPA type of gun... I have 2 and have had no issues at all in about 6k rounds.
Ands with the Dawson grip tape they look great!
I'm planning on going with the PT aluminum dimpled grip. I like the look and the feel of the pattern on the grip.

For those of you that missed the match, you missed a good one. Mike and Lan did a great job on the stage design and it was refreshing to see some "shooters choice" stages. Nice work and I am looking forward to next months.
