  1. I think this minor and major power factor is a bunch of crap. This should be 1 power factor for everybody no matter what kind of gun no what kind of optics what kind of Compensator. One power factor for everybody makes a even level playing Field

Your off by a decade 1992 limited was  provisional.... 1993 was when we had the first limited national champion...

Maybe by a technical name, but I was shooting IPSC in 1982 and I know what we Was doing. You Either had a compensated 1911, or you had an uncomplicated 1911With a 175 power factor Plain and simple

  3. Good lord, how did things ever get so crazy, and out of control? In 82 we had basically open and limited. Open with probably 38 super with a single port Wilson compensator and adjustable sites. I think they had a 9 Round magazine. The rest of the shot of 1911 That was Was a 45acp.  The power factor that was 175,  so 9 mm was automatically out of it I mean you could shoot 1 But nobody did.

Wild prediction here, LO is not gonna be designed as an entry-level division.

If everybody wants to be honest , Nothing about the USPSA/IPSC is designed as an entry level division.

i luv nosler 55gr BT's.  they go out to 700 just fine.  sub moa out to 400 in my 16" JP.

Long range 223 I use Nosler RDF 70grain  boat tail hollow points G7 BC 0.211 Talk about kick ass down range ballistics.

If your reaching out to 400 you will want a heavier bullet that a 55 as it will stay more stable and be much more accurate at longer ranges than a 55 will especially with a 1/7 twist barrel which is pretty much the standard now.

My 55 fmj-bt's are going out to 400 yards pretty easy with my 16" armalite With a 1 and 9 twist barrel... Fact that push them out to 700 with a different bolt gun.

If you are on a quest to lower SD, good for precision rifle, what I do is use an RCBS auto trickler and instead of 55s use 69 & 75 grain bullets. Rifle loading for precision is a bit more taxing than pistol.

Thank you guys for all your help and information I really appreciate your knowledge. My 550 pretty much Throws 28.0 gr. that I'm asking it to every time. I started weighing every 5th Round, Of course my scale is a Hornady GS350 electronic With plus minus 1⁄10 of 1 gr. I'm also using a Basic 55 gr. full metal jacket boat tail bullet. I am not really trying for long range match rifle accuracy, but for 3 gun competition.  I need to be able to hit an IPSC target out to 400 yd. The quest will continue.

SD is effected by the brass volume. Since you are using mixed brass it will be hard to get sub 10 SDs even with a SS press.

All my military brass is lake city 07 08 10  Trimmed 1.750 With no crimp.

Does anyone have one of these if so how well does it work? I’m working on 556 brass.

I've been using the Dillon hand Swage, For years it takes to crimps right out.   long as you got to set right.

  10. I was wondering, what you guys considered a good standard deviation. I'm using a Dillon 550C mixed military lake city brass, Hornady 55 gr.fmj bt bullet, Winchester small rifle primer, 27 gr. of shooters world match rifle powder, and over all cartridge length is 2.230   10 rounds is going into about an 1" group. I use a magna speed 3 chronograph My maximum velocity is 3053 My minimum velocity is 2964 my average velocity is 3007 But My Standard deviation is 26.0

    Check out this reloader:

He is 1 of the best reloaders on YouTube, and I use a lot of his data.  He is the  one that gave me the data for my 6.5 grindel with 140 gr RDF and  28 gr. of 2520. This gets you real close to a 6.5 creedmoor. Thanks

So even though common sense... lol... says that there should be a penalty NROI says their interpretation of the rule book says otherwise.

So the next question in my mind is: "Do we just live with this apparent rules corner condition or does the rulebook change such that common sense is satisfied?"

It bugs the heck out of me that there can be such an explicit stage procedure and there be no penalty when it is not followed.

You want to know what a really drive you crazy? Try to set up a stage that cannot be gamed. It can be done it's not easy, especially, if you got gamers advising you.... lol

I've been in the sport 30 years now.  It has NEVER been an official range command during that period of time.

I am with, Schutzenmeister. Long as I been in this sport (And that is like forever)we have said if you are finished, unload and slow clear, At that point, they would say slide forward( or just "slide"), hammer down, and holster.  and they still say that today

I don't see the current rules for holster being appreciably different than previous ones, OTHER than they are slightly more lax in specifics.

I am not talking about the change in holsters, I'm talking about the ease of conceivability.

I think that the biggest thing to be careful about regarding drop/offset (in addition to the offset part of how far from the belt the gun can be) is

8.5.12: "All IDPA legal holsters must hold the butt of the firearm clearly above the top of the belt. Concealment and cant angle rules apply."

So just be careful how much "drop" you have.

It looked like more and more appendix carried, Is the way to go.

I have seen someone get dq'd for failing the dowel test when that was the rule. The draw back to that method was some holsters were legal if you were round enough and illegal if you were to thin.

    The dowel test?
