You can't let the bolt go forward "real easy". The extractor, which is under spring tension, has to slip over the rim of the cartridge. This takes a bit of force like the bolt closing under full spring force or hitting the forward assist. You can't gently lower the bolt on an AR-10!

I am talking about without a round even in the gun...

  2. I just got a new AR-10 with a 20 inch barrel it's mostly areo precision parts.  the barrel I got off GunBroker it was not an expensive barrel. Now the problem is it will not chamber the rounds, they go into my case length gauge, perfect. they fall in and out it it. but they will not chamber in the gun. if I let the bolt go home real easy it does not go home all the way home as you can see in the picture.

  3. I took this little gun out today to shoot it To know it would print the 7 and 10 yd with full house 357 magnum 125 jhp gr. loads. Printed good 7 &10 yd But it kicked more than a 4" 44 magnum. Holy crap The thing has some recoil.

It’s not weird at all. The ogive of coated lead and FMJ/plated projectiles is quite different.

What kind of found is to be true. In about all of my 9 mm's if I'm running the coated bullet I like it to be .355 this is just me, But then I don't run 147's

    Hi all,

I bought a used SDB this week. While looking things over today, I found there's no "follower rod" for the primer magazine. Is that something that's used only with the primer warning system? If I need one, is there an easy home fix, or is this a part I need to order?

I'm sure this is a pretty silly question, but this is my first experience with magazine tube priming systems.

    Thanks

In 1986 they didn't exist so I took a metal clothes hanger Bent it straight and cut it to Length It worked perfect. I sent a picture of it to Dillon reloading but they never got back to me.

It looks more beveled than the plastic versions. Thanks

I believe it is, But could be because the metal frame can take more abuse than the polymer frame I'm guessing.

Now you only need ruffly 101,000 more And you will be set for life According to your calculations.😁

What!! A lot of guys will call that hoarding. But I call it being prepared. I've done the same since Clinton was president and we could not get primers. I decided I wasn't going to get caught without again. Happened when Obama was president and now we have to deal with it again.
Brings to mind the old story about the ant and the grasshopper. Which most people probably won't know. 😀

You're right and it's good that you are prepared. But I don't drink crème de menthe 😁

    I'm under a 750 a month, let's say 7500 a year.

I'm 65, and know a bunch of guys in their 60s that shoot, a few guys in their 70s, and 1 or 2 in their 80s.

I'll be kind to myself and say I'll shoot another 15 years.

What's 15 times 7,500? That's what I need. The question is, is that what I can afford?

    .

I shoot about 800-1,000 a month Split between IDPA, USPSA  3 gun some practice/planking. It's not that I have a lot of money it's just that for a lot of years every payday I bought primers and powder.

  10. A lot of people buy guns just to look at them. And a lot of people buy reloading supplies just to look at them, because they want to have them in the emergency. But then they are people like me, and the people on this board, who shoot the piss out of their guns and enjoyed them. 50,000 primers is not a lifetime supply. I know Professional shooters That shoot 10,000 rounds a month.

I think if I could, standing and unsupported, keep 10 shots inside the 10-ring of a B8 at 20 yards I'd be pretty happy.

I might be able to do that from a rest. It's been way too long since I practiced at any significant distance.

    Thanks for the incentive.

I can keep 10 shots in the head A zone of the old IPSC at 25 yds standing freestyle. Totally satisfy my need for accuracy with a handgun.

why not just buy them online for 40% of that? I can find primers for more if I want to, but I don't want to.

I have no intentions of paying those prices. I still have 20,000 small rifle primers in stock( locked safely in the Dungeon) I'm hoping Miranda, is right in the fact that sense  foreign primers are coming down, American primers will come down.

  13. We have a gun show coming up this weekend in Manhattan, Kansas. We'll see what prime members are going for but, I'm sure it's close to $200  a 1,000

I just bought 3k primers for 250 bucks.. your math aint mathing.

Where did you get them? because you can't them for that around here to 179-190 dollars  a 1,000. Not that that is a great price. It's been a while since I actually had to buy primers but the last time I bought primers was about 3 + years ago, and I gave her $127 for 5000 just saying

The best I've found is Accurate no 7. Meters well and made major for an entire year across the country in majors and nationals.

I love this powder, and so does both my Dillon reloaders. The meters great and it's very consistent round to round.

It's all relative.  Some people pay over 5K for a custom 1911 that shoots a 1" group at 25.

This is very true! Of course to be honest I don't think I could shoot the 1" group standing freestyle at 25 yds with any handgun out there. I do good to hit 3" at 25 yds. I've seen people paid Upwards of $10,000 for a handgun. I didn't give $10,000 from my Truck lol

With my smith and Wesson M&P metal and a Holosun 507c green. I did put 5 out of 5 in the A. zone of an IPSC target head. Made me happy.

The problem isn't the barrel it is the 320 Legion slide. Original 320 X5 pistols shot great. Substituting an original X5 slide solves the accuracy problems. Also the GGI Lockwood slides shoot great.

First picture is my first five rounds of PMC 124 freestyle at 20 yards from a new Lockwood, second shot is after adjusting the R3 Max.

That is very good shooting, But paying that much for a pistol, you should not have to substitute anything. I mean that's just my opinion.
