  1. That makes sense, my P-09 likes the 120gr TCG. I may try the the Blues in 125RN as my 1911 likes that bullet made in other brands.
  2. I have noticed Blue sells their 9mm bullets at .355", lead bullets usually start at .356" and some of the coated mfg's will size to order in my experience Bayou offers custom sizes, just received a number of profiles and weights 100pc packs last week sized at .357. I'm curious why blue lists a .355" dia, I haven't tried them but lots of comp guys use them. The main thing I will say is if you select the TC bullet profile, make sure you do the plunck test when selecting OAL.
  3. I chose the 125 FP for the precision purchase looking for use in other guns. I have settled with a 120TSG Bayou for the CZ P-09 and 4.4 of CFE Pistol working really well at 1.043 OAL. So far the Sport Pistol loads haven't done better, but some test loads are pending.
  4. I have some .358's have been working on a load for 929 with CFE and Sport Pistol, have time off next week hopefully I can do some more testing! The Range is close to me convenient! I also have two other pistols P-09 CZ and 9mm 1911, but it looks like I'm not going to find a common ground so to speak, chamber depths and such. I don't intend on making this a powder selection debate as it gets out of hand. But if you have an experience with CFE or Sport Pistol great!
  5. My understanding of bullet size to barrel size is something like this .3565 barrel plus .001 for bullet size would be .3575 to .358 depending on opinion and rifling, just want to open this up for opinion. Thanks!
  6. I entered a note on the order to Precision, .357 dia which they acknowledged having noted as such, we will see. I have seen YouTuber FortuneCookie45LC do a video of sizing coated bullets. Also ordered a number of various Bayou using the same request .357 dia, based on advice here including some 160gr, 150gr, 105gr, 95gr
  7. I measured the Gallants with a mic at .3575, and using a bore gauge on the cylinder bore at about the same means. Noticed alot of leading on the cylinder bore in the process when spinning the bore guage, seems mostly at the 6 & 12 o'clock of the cylinder in firing position. Cleaned the cylinder and barrel good and loaded the Gallants did some test runs with .377 crimp with no issues, but not outstanding results, I haven't established a good load for the 929 yet, going to try some precision 125gr .357 dia.
  8. Yes, I noticed before loading any of the Gallant bullets that the bullet would not drop through the cylinder as previous other brands purchased Bayou & SNS, checked the dia and sure enough they were larger, Gallant being .358. Aside from being larger than what I was expecting to receive, I started looking on this forum and saw some conversation of people using .358 although it can be transparent of the equipment people are using, I have had excess leading with the .356 dia I have been using and decided to explore furthur.
  9. I checked the Gallant bullets with dial calipers at .358 , I should check the calipers with some feeler gauge stock, however the Gallant do measure .002" bigger than Bayou's (several varietys) which are at .356 with the same calipers. Do you have any mods on your 929's cylinder? Also did you go to .358 because you were seeing excess leading? Thanks in advance
  10. Gmp, are you using 125gr precisions? If I might ask the dia and what you are shooting them in, any revolver? Precisions profile might be good for my P-09 CZ referring to the OAL as you commented.
  11. Thanks all for the help. Good information! Shooting Steel Challenge, hopefully the weather holds for this weekend, winter is rolling in on us!
  12. JPM, you seem to have experience with other brands, any suggestion or opinion that stands out?
  13. Thanks jpm, what gun are you using them in?
  14. I was hoping someone had experience with a Smith 929 revolver 9mm and the Gallant coated bullets Gallant posts the bullets as .356 on the site, but they are .358, I see some posts of shooters using .358 but would like to hear comments from those users
  15. I used the term drop test, not completely correct, ammo is not loaded, I was just checking bullet clearance and noticed it didn't pass thru the cylinder. As the previously used bullets
  16. Hello...I recently purchased Gallant coated bullets in 9mm 125gr the dia on these is .358 I have been using Bayou and Sns coated they are .356 & .357 prospectively. I did a drop test in my 929 cylinder and it doesn't enter like the Bayou & Sns. What is the best way to approach this..the cylinder measures .357
