The shell plate is the one used for .223 and I think you use 9mm pins, I have the .223 shell plate but don't use it 9MM works fine for me. When I change from 9MM to 38SC I just change the tool head and go.

You should have an insert that goes in the channel between the back strap and the magazine opening and the SJC magwell bolts to that, mine is also rock solid, I don't have any Arredondo base pads all mine are Taylor Freelance and they work great. I also have an SJC magwell on a CCF stainless steel frame that installation was a little different with the rubber back strap but is also solid.

SharonAnne I don't know you from Adam but I bet the cane thing would be kind of a tip off. It sucks when bad things happen to good people, it makes you wonder what the big scheme is. You can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep, the friends you have on this forum and in the shooting community speaks volumes. You'll be in my prayers.

I tested some 7.6 AutoComp loads yesterday in my 5" STI 38SC, 121 MG, 1235 OAL, Wolf s/p, 169 PF. Good powder I like it.

Get yourself a good reloading manual or two take it slow and don't be afraid to ask questions. What part of Montana do you live in? I used to shoot a lot in Missoula and Libby they put on great matches.

I have Quinn slide rackers on 2 of my open guns one with CCG mount and one with the Quinn II. I don't have any problems with clearance for my thumb.
The racker is very light, I ordered mine without a set screw and had them installed with a detent.

When it comes to footwear for shooting I put Amalda Marcos to shame. I have shoes for all range surfaces for summer and winter.

I'm currently living in Alabama and shoot with the Mobile Pistol Shooters Association and will soon be a member. HOWEVER, I will be moving to Vancouver, Wa.... eventually (maybe middle of next year). I'm just kind of throwing a flag out there and seeing if I can make some EXTREMELY early contacts, also I have a few questions about the carry laws there, and I'm way to tired to do any legal reading right now. I was hoping someone could give me the cliff notes.
Thanks,
KP
Fred's post #3 pretty much covers what would be close to Vancouver, you will be just on the other side of the Columbia River from Portland Or. I have a carry permit for WA. & OR. when I got my WA. permit it was real easy, finger prints and a back ground check. I think it's a little more involved now like taking a little quiz but still pretty easy.

Where does one find that slide racker?
Wolf Dist. click on Custom Gun Works, click on Mako.

I think it is Bill Salhberg of Spokane Wa. He used to be the Junior Program Coordinator his # is (509)979-9575 I used to shoot with him a lot before I moved to Portland he's a great guy.

That's a nice upper but you may find that a bull barrel is a little heavy and that you will want a rifle length hand gaurd.

Chris Fritz is right in your area, and I think he has a reasonable turn around.

Absolutely I case gage. It's a non-negotiable necessity. However, since the gage is tighter than the chamber on any gun I own, I don't feel the need to also chamber check. That would be seriously redundant. That only time I chamber check is if I have something that fails the gage and I want to make sure it's good anyway.
Where I find the gage has its greatest utility, actually, is not in finding oversized rounds. It's in finding things like split casings - there's a very distinctive dragging sensation as the round slides into place in the gage. Also I run my finger over every primer as it's in the gage to check proper seating.
What he said.

I used it for 9mm Major in my Glock open guns, but it can be spiky. I now use Silhouette which is the same as WAP.

Matt;
How did those powders compare as far as softer, flatter, cleaner? I use Silhouette in my 9mm major, AA#7 in my 38SC and am getting some AutoComp tomorrow. I would like to find one powder I could use in both without sacrificing performance.
Thanks Tim

I just ordered some MG 121s I wish I would have ordered the 115s because I've been using 124s and don't think 3grs will be noticeable. Keep us posted on how the different powders work for you.

I think open17 (aka Evil Bill when he breaks out his windmill and puts a Texas Star in front of it both set up to spin in opposite directions) has made one.

Powder Valley is good but you have a has/mat fee their prices are good enough where if you are ordering a fairly large quantity you will still be better off than local, try to get a group order together.

Hey Lars, what division do you shoot? and what type of gun do you use?

If you don't already have a timer, for $190 dollars (only a little more time saving pocket change) it is very hard to beat the PACT MKIV XP as a timer/chrono combination. With a little care towards setup (light angle) I have gotten very consistent results with the chrono function and the timer gives you more training options than you can imagine.
Do you have to buy anything else to use it as a chorno? I guess I need to do some more research on it!
A battery.

I've had a Prochrono for over 12 years, it's always worked well.

Brownell's catalog has pretty good info on Aftec applications. You do know that 38 Super aftec is different than 38 Super Comp?

Mine also has space between the hook and the breach face, but is snug between the shoulder on the left side of the breach face and the flat of the extractor behind the hook. Does that make sense? anyway it works flawlessly and I'm about ready to order one for another gun.

I don't have any first hand experience other than I tried to buy some from a friend that was selling the gun that he used them with, he would not sell them he liked them a lot and wanted to keep them unless he ever got a gun that would use them again. They look nice and appear to be well made, I use a Speedsec holster and am happy with it.
