  1. Wow, that's a great looking job.

How much JB Weld do you think it required?  Does the grip feel noticeably larger?

Just about to order the supplies from Amazon tonight...

  2. I think you'll find inconsistent results from switching to the 10x bushing.  If your current bushing fit is loose, it will probably help.  But I've installed 3 on my Shadows and never saw any measurable difference.  My Accu Shadow is absolutely more accurate.  But even then, I'm talking about a 1.2" group vs a 1.8" group.  So, nothing that would make a difference in your match standing.

  3. I was at the range shooting my CZ, and someone offered to let me shoot their Canik.  I was blown away by the trigger and the accuracy, and now I'd like to pick up one.

Looking at the available models, the version I shot was the TP9SF Elite Salient.  The model I'd get for myself is the TP9SFX.

But now I'm wondering if the version I shot had some special Salient match barrel and trigger, and I'm going to be disappointed with the SFX trigger and accuracy.

No problem, works flawlessly, only issue is it is more expensive than the gun, lol

Any chance you could post a picture or two?

  5. I'll take a look at those, thanks

Although, I must be doing something wrong.  I'm using two slave pins, and didn't have an issue with the other pieces.  Just can't seem to get the decocker spring to slide into place.

It should be under tension, so that you have to push it down into the slot?

  6. I've spent almost an hour trying to get the decocker return spring in place.  Is there some trick to this?

I have the slave pin from CGW, but I can't seem to get it to drop into place.  And I think I'm putting it together correctly, but I can't seem to find a really good photo or video of it actually going into place.

It seems as though it won't drop in because it's under tension.

I had a Tanfo, not a CZ. Sold the metal guns and went back to all plastic guns - a trio of Walthers.

CZ. Glock. Tanfoglio. Walther. The gun doesn’t matter much.

Shoot the one you like; in these days where you “need” a metal gun to be more competitive, there were still more Glocks in the top 25 production shooters than CZs.

    I was just curious

    Agree to disagree.

I consider that a huge disadvantage. My Walther is cut so deeply the DPP optic is now the cover for the firing pin channel:

I shot a “plate system” gun for two matches, and hated how high the dot was mounted.

With this gun, the dot is down right about where conventional irons used to be, and it was an astonishing improvement.

Are you shooting this over your Shadow?

They do, and I have just received my slide from Primary Machine directly milled for a DPP.  It looks good although I hoped for a deeper pocket; not sure if that was technically feasible. However, that by itself doesn't bring the weight down enough to be CO legal. It appears that CZC solution of plate + lightening is the most economic solution.

They didn't do any other milling than just for the optic?

  10. If you're still having an issue with POI and POA being off, you have to fix that.  You can't shoot a match like that.  And if you're having malfunctions, take care of that as well.

You need to have confidence in your gear.

And I don't mean for this to sound like a dumb question, but do you know how to shoot a Texas star?  That is, in what order to shoot the plates?

  11. I shot my first USPSA match this year, so take this with a grain of salt.  But after my first match, I had similar questions.  My times were very slow, but I was very accurate.  I wondered if I needed to make an effort to speed up or go faster.  I'm still trying to get my head around some things, but I conceptualize it in this way;

During a match, I don't think about speed (slowing down, speeding up, go fast on one stage, slow down and get my hits on another)  My only thought is to shoot to an acceptable sight picture.  That is, when the dot rises, I feel like I had an A or a close C.  The movement, I leave to my subconscious.

In practice, though...I'm always trying to find a way to get faster.  Draw faster, get in and out of positions faster, transition faster, faster, sooner, quicker everything.

Ultimately, I'd like to have two modes (I don't want to use the word speed) of running a stage.  When I'm LITERALLY shooting, pulling the trigger, I want to shoot to an acceptable sight picture.  Everything else, I want to do as quickly as I possibly can.  When my dot lifts after the last shot on an array, I want to IMMEDIATELY hit the nitrous button.  Not consciously/trying, but subconsciously because that's how I've been practicing.

Hopefully that makes some sense and isn't bad advice.
