  1. Thanks, probably better than peening.
  2. Now put what you saw in the video together with your comment regarding dry fire, slow at first to begin building muscle memory then add speed...repeat until you aren't thinking about each particular step and you'll be well on your way to your first target after the BEEP!
  3. All that worked like a champ!! I'm back up and running for now, Thanks!!
  4. Between acetone and denatured alcohol both my wife and I can put a dent in gallon jugs of the stuff...
  5. Between peening and the divot for the existing set screw hopefully I'll be back up and running for the match this weekend. Thanks!!
  6. If there was a full width dovetail on the slide I'd have room for a second set screw but on this M&P there isn't. Acetone...good for just about anything
  7. I noticed that the dovetail mount for my dot isn't secure any longer. Originally I did some light filing to get it to fit without having to bang away on it but now (with the set screw backed out) it just slides in and out which was not the case originally. 1.) What's a good way to tighten up the dovetail 2.) What's a good solvent to get rid of the blue thread locker?
  8. Looking forward to catching up with you somewhere in the middle.
  9. Thanks HP Jack, that process'll work for me...and I just started a practice pile bowl. Not many in there though.
  10. I've been loading Gallant 125's and they work just fine in my plastic gun for CO but this 92 is a different issue for some reason... Where've you been hiding, haven't seen you at any matches for some time...or just missed you in different squads?
  11. Thanks HP Jack, do you check for high primers even though you might not be checking for chambering for all of your ammo??
  12. That's kind of the idea I've been going with all along...that the barrel is the best check...I don't even have a chamber gauge. I use good dial calipers and the barrel.
  13. LOL, it's always great to solve a problem...that isn't a problem
  14. Good thought on the shim, I'll take a look. One Shot is part of the routine, a little cleanup following loading needed though.
  15. Thanks. That was one of the first things I checked...repeatedly...
  16. Thanks RJH! I've taken the gun a couple of notches up from stock with springs and polishing but nothing outrageous . Regarding light primer strikes it was with some odds and ends that I had laying around from here and there which I should have been leery of any way. Last year when I did the full tear down and clean before the winter hibernation I may have installed the sear spring in the wrong orientation. A known issue with 92's that I had forgotten over the winter. With that change and using my own, known ammo I'm probably good. Next time out at the range will be the proof. Thanks HP Jack! It'll be interesting to see what the chrono has to say on my own, known ammo.
  17. The 92FS came out of the safe today for it's opening day of the season. In ~200 rounds there were too many issues with the hammer going to half cock after DA trigger pull. 1.) Where should I be looking to get this bug out of the way? 2.)In addition there were a few light primer strikes but that was "fixed" by a DA trigger pull (just gotta love that second chance!). 3.)Then there is the issue of my thumb riding the slide lock but that will come with more time at the range and also dry fire.
  18. THANKS ALL for your replies! With all of the permutations of OAL and CRIMP there still was a bit of resistance to rotation even below safe OAL's so today I packed up and went out to the range with a variety of OAL's (safe standards) and CRIMPS and fired away ~200 rounds and no issues with going bang or especially KABOOM(!). I'M JUST NOT GOING TO WORRY ABOUT IT, GRIP REALLY, REALLY HARD, PULL THE TRIGGER...REPEAT... Thanks again to you all for chiming in!
  19. Thanks, that's kind of where I'm headed next...
  20. Thanks Steve RA, that's something I've not heard of before...good point!
  21. Thanks, it does. That was checked yesterday when I assembled the reloader after cleaning all the accumulated schmutz. As I posted above, I can get a reduced resistance to the rotation with a shorter OAL. It's still there (softer) but better and closer to a full rotation. Off to the range soon. There's a steel match Friday but the Beretta isn't making the trip...
  22. Thanks Steve, I'll give it a go when I'm set up with Lee...
  23. I checked by resizing a case only and the case goes in and out of the chamber the way it should...drops in and rotates freely.
  24. Ok, here's what scratched off: What's a good next step for correction?
  25. Thanks!!! I"ve put so much marker on so many cartridges...on the bullet and crimped end...but never lower on the case(!!). I'll get to it once the coffee takes a hold. Then look into what's needed to correct anything that might show up as a result of issues you mention in #'s 4 & 5.
