Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I also got mine at Midsouth Shooters Supply. It was the best price at the time of purchase, press was in great shape when it arrived and shipping was pretty quick. I agree with StuckinMS; it's a great press. I recently added the Hornady case feeder and a Mr Bullet Feeder bullet dropper die with the Bully Mag-P feeder tube assembly. Initially took some tweaking, but got the "bugs" worked out and it's great.
  2. Late follow-up, but thought I should post in fairness to Double Alpha. I did get a response several days later from DAA regarding my initial post issue. Both Saul and Josh responded and presented options to either sand the powder funnel, return for an exchange, or return for a refund if I was unsatisfied. I am in the process of trying to get the powder measure and expansion of the brass to be consistent. If anyone has any pointers or has this setup on a Hornady LNL AP powder measure using the Mr Bullet Feeder Powder Funnel, I'd appreciate the advice. I have adjusted the range of motion of the powder measure with the MBF Powder Funnel installed with the ram up, but without the stop device attached. After doing that, I attached the stop device and adjusted the allen screws to where I could "feel" possible expansion. When bringing the ram back down, I would look at where the MBF Powder Funnel depth was in the brass case. I watched the video on the MBF website adjusting the Powder Funnel on a Dillon 650 and used their technique. Seems like bullets sit in the case best when the case mouth measures around 0.379 - 0.380in. For some reason, at times they are not expanding to those measurements. I have adjusted the bottom screw on the powder measure stop device that comes with the PTX expander, but still get inconsistencies or the range of motion of the powder measure becomes affected. By this, I mean the powder drop adjuster doesn't go all the way up to the top of its range of motion; therefore affecting my powder drops. I'm sure some "tweaking" of the way this is setup would solve the problem. Hope this makes some sense. Thanks for any help.
  3. WarrenZ - The one I have is for Hornady LNL AP. They have two available now; one for Dillon and one for Hornady in various calibers. I did get the one finally to fit into the lower assembly by following mwray's suggestion. I placed the DAA unit in a drill and used a piece of emery cloth to take enough off that it slides freely in the Hornady assembly. The great part is after cleaning it with Hornady gun cleaner and lube you can't tell it was sanded. Thanks for all the help, I appreciate it. Kind of disappointed that DAA never replied to my e-mails.
  4. Thanks for the idea. I was thinking about taking a Dremel with a polishing stone to the inside of the Hornady lower powder drop die assembly to see if I could open it up a little, but your suggestion sounds better. I sent DAA another e-mail, but still haven't heard back from them. I don't want to mess up that part in case they recommend sending it back.
  5. Yes, sent them an e-mail after I measured the powder funnel. Haven't received a reply yet. I ordered another lower assembly for the powder measure to see if that by chance makes a difference.
  6. New to forum and have a question. I just received a powder funnel from DoubleAlpha for my Hornady LNL AP. I went to install it in my case activated powder measure after removing the Hornady PTX Expander and thoroughly cleaning the lower assembly and new DAA Powder Funnel. When I attempted to drop it in, it would only go in about 1/2 inch. I removed it, cleaned the lower assembly again and retried with the same results. I then took my digital calipers and measured the Hornady PTX Expander and got a measurement of 0.6185 in. I then measured the DoubleAlpha unit and got a measurement of 0.620 in. Has anyone else ever had this issue or have any suggestions? I sent an e-mail to DAA but haven't received any response at this time. Thanks for any help
