You can buy a P365 that comes with a macro grip module (17 rounds) but a xL slide (3.7" barrel). I believe they call it a tac ops model, it's fairly new. Should be around $799ish. My wife got her p365xl with 3 mags and a holster for $599 from sportsmans warehouse. A holosun 407k was $230 on Amazon.
to make considerations more difficult I would try and find a range to rent/shoot them all. I have a Glock 43 as well and it doesn't leave the safe anymore.
thanks, for the heads up!
It looks like Sig listened to customers on that one, it's cheaper with more features, and magazines...
that may be contender vs the hellkitty, but the larger gripframe is still a very slight drawback. but very slight
I'm going to test Bul Armory customer service this week or next, and get some more info on the sass ii ultralight....
there are some pretty nice options out there for sure....
I'll explore dimensions further on the Bul, p365, and hellokitty.
Dimensions are what kept me from keeping my Wiley Clapp Colt...

I have a pair of uncle mike's instructors belts and a pair of $30 gun belts, but I think I got them when they were $20 gun belts....

Y’all are just awful… and maybe a touch evil….
ok let’s consider….
The hellcat pro with the shield red dot 15 rounds is $720
The 365xl with Romeo sight 12 round is $780
and the 365 macro with Romeo sight 17 round is $950 barrel is shorter at 3.1” and the grip is longer so I think that’s out.
I think for striker fired, I’m still in the hellcat pro camp…. with 3 extra rounds… extra magazines aren’t obnoxiously priced…
but I’m still so ingrained with 1911’s I’m willing to spend more money on 1911 controls and no new fangled optics…..
I have never used optic on a pistol by the way…. And all my ar’s are A1’s and variants…. Don’t like A2’s let alone M4’s….
so for me to consider and optic on a carry pistol is a huge leap I never thought I’d consider….
so even with the 15+1 round 9mm’s (16+1 for the Bul) I still have the 7+1 scandium frame .45 compact 1911 high on the list… the benefits being I don’t need a new holster and I have a metric but load of magazines…. I could get one of these under $1200
the bul and alpha would be around $1500 plus extra magazines… the bul uses sti type magazines so that’s a plus…. So maybe the bul sass II bumps the alpha down a notch….
I don’t think I’m any closer to a decision….
by the way I had been looking at the Glock 48 and 43x and such but had discounted those early on.

Yea it's the 3" version. Hopefully the pro version is better. I think something like the p365xl with a longer slide (4" barrel) would be perfect. I've thought about a Icarus precision grip module along with a comp but at that point it's a $1600 gun after an optic.
I was trying to not go further down the rabbit hole by limiting my choices…. The Sig does look good too…
the Bul armory sas II ultralight is another 1911ish contender….

I have a hellcat OSP with an optic and hate it. The gun is super snappy. A similar sized P365xl on the other hand feels like it shoots completely flat in comparison. I usually carry it when I can pry it away from my wife. Otherwise I have a CZ P01.
Is that the 3” barrel? The new pro has a 3.7” so maybe less snappy…
The Alpha s-15 has a 3.5” barrel.
They both should be less snappy than the scandium 3” .45 acp…
-
For the last few years I have only had one pistol suitable for CCW. And I haven’t often carried that….
I’m looking to actually carry more so I have narrowed my choices down to 3, two of which I would use in my local action pistol matches to possibly replace my CZ P-09. (s)
The first choice would not be a consideration for competition.
1) a 45acp officer framed lightweight frame with a ramped barrel and a 3-3.5” barrel.
I have narrowed that choice down to a S&W scandium frame..
I wouldn’t often use this for competition and it wouldn’t replace my CZ
2) would be used in competition…
Alpha Foxtrot 1911-S15
this is an aluminum framed double stack 1911 upper 15 rounder in 9mm. With +5 round extensions available.
3) would also be used in competition
Springfield Hellcat pro is the cheapest of the bunch, and I would likely get one with an optic installed
it is a 9mm double stack striker with 15 round magazines and plus 3-4 extensions available

I just ordered one, I have had the mga stock in my parts bin for some time.

I have the stoeger m3k, and I’m looking to get the beretta A300 patrol.
I do have 9+1 on the m3k and am planning to keep the 7+1 when I get the beretta.
before the A300 was announced the only other contender for me was the beretta 1301.
I often use my 4+1 Ithaca 37 so take my advice as you see fit.

Some of my longslides:
I don't even need that much encouragement....

I did end up finding some Colt videos and they say the checkering is 25 lpi, on the front strap and MSH. bur since I don't like flat msh's....

How are you able to quad load using the AP and EZ8? They're certainly not designed for it.
just the ez8, it's actually quite EZ, just reach 2 down and grab 4 at a time, the thin divider between the stack has no effect

-
I have been practicing loading the various shotguns I have, with the carriers I have.. a taccom 20 round chest rig, a gunner EZ8 and an APcustom 4x4.
I bought them some time ago to experiment, having only used canvas usgi pouches in the past.
I'm able to quad load quite easily with the EZ8 loader, and I like the design of the ap custom although it does not allow quad loading.
The taccom... in an ideal environment I can quad load, but just barely, it retains the shells too tightly while simultaneously giving the feeling they will fall out and/or misalign if I break wind, really dislike this rig immensely.
I understand AP custom disappeared a few years ago leaving some po'd customers with depleted funds, but due to belt space I would be happy with the ability to add 3 of these to my 3 gun belt. (currently have one)
The EZ8 takes up more belt real-estate but I could squeeze 3 on my belt. (again currently have one)
so due to availability, I will be getting a couple more of the gunner ez8's and be on the lookout for some apcustoms 4x4's in the used market.
Another I wanted to try was a safariland 12 round but they don't seem to list them on the safariland website anymore.
all pictures stolen from the interwebz....

I shoot a Gold Cup Trophy and really like it. The magwell looks like this one from EGW

thanks, it looks like they do not make and arched mainspring housing so it looks like I’m getting the lite version..

I like front strap checkering if it's 20 LPI. Otherwise put me in the grip tape camp as well. I have no idea what the colt's have
Oddly enough they don’t seem to even mention the checkering let alone mention the specs, but looking at the pictures, it looks to be 30 lpi -

i can't comment on the specific gun, but I prefer grip tape on the front strap instead of checkering for competition use.
I think that’s where I’m headed, if I needed extra traction for competition or carry it’s a simple reversible solution. -
So I’m looking at treating myself to a stainless Gold Cup with all the money I have saved from NOT bar hopping and smoking Cuban cigars…
The biggest difference between the lite and trophy is the checkered front strap.
I’m thinking I don’t need it and could spend the extra monies elsewhere. I have used 1911’s either with or without and can’t say I have a preference.
Also the trophy has a magwell, how is it attached? I do prefer an arched mainspring housing so ….
and I do like techwell for a funnel.

Division is what your speaking of and stippling if completed in accordance with the rulebook is allowed and would not change your division.
I’ll remember to ask Saturday, it’s just action pistol, I’m not sure I ever read the rule book, I just made my pistol the way I liked it.

Main comp gun is a cz p09 set for single action like a 1911 and a 1911 for occasional comp
main carry is a seecamp dao .32
I also like revolvers for carry
-
I don’t even know what class I’m shooting in.
The only mod I did is stipple the frame on my polymer pistol which supposedly changes the class I’m in.
but on my single stack I can change grips ad nauseum with no class.
like school in the summertime

I like the safariland gls a lot more than I thought I would.
I have 2.
One is set for a 1911 and the other is set for a CZ P-09.
same model holster and I was able to set each one for very different guns.
-
I like it when a Glock gets cocked and sounds like a single action revolver.
next favorite is counting how many times a shotgun gets racked…. Bonus if it’s a semi….

I bought a square deal at a swap meet with missing parts.
I told Dillon the story and they replaced the parts under warranty no charge.
I won’t own any other brand.
Teach me about double stack 1911 magazines.
in 1911-style Pistols

I have glanced longingly at double stack 1911's at competitions, and I'm considering a 110mm magazine 9mm for an edc pistol, and would look at a larger frame/slide and maybe a different caliber for competition in the future.
First off what are double stack magazines usually called? I have seen the "STI" term being used.
I get the different lengths, 110mm, 120mm, 170mm, etc fit different frames.
are there any brands/types that are not compatible with each other?
I also get there are 9mm, 40, and 45 acp magazines.
any insight this group has will be greatly appreciated, and used mostly for good, and maybe a little evil as long as it's funny.
