We're just giving ideas, not codifying uspsa law and match management into stone. into stone. If the sole goal, as stated, is to increase major match participation in Revo alone, then cutting the price in half would do it. There would have to be sacrfices in other areas, it's not my judgement in this case to see if the trade off is valid.

And juniors shoot the same number of targets and more of them shoot matches, so giving them a discount is more detrimental than what I propose for revo, so I don't totally buy the cost issue. But we think it is OK under the guise of "growing the sport". So then, what do we want to grow by offering discounts? Kids or Revo shooters?

Now, just as me, myself and I well that's a different story. Gospel according to Rowdy I would just kill the whole division. Or imply its death by making it optional at matches.

Uhhh i thought this thread was about saving revolver. Not killing it. :(

  2. Changing scoring and rules will do very little(at least in my neck of the woods)to bring any new wheel gunners in to the sport shooting world. They simply are not competitive with the bottom-feeding crowd. A moderately quick semi shooter will put gun a decent wheel gunner every time. Yes, there are exceptions, but at the level I’m speaking of, they don’t exist. It’s fun to be competitive. It’s fun to post fast times. And it’s just easier to do both with a semi auto.
Make the “divisions” as easy and relaxed as possible. Keep revolvers separate.

This is the crux of the issue in my opinion. ICORE is doing just fine. In part because it’s competitive and everyone is shooting a similar platform. Which raises the level of the competition for all participants. People shoot competitively because they want to compete. [stating the obvious, but that’s really the issue].
If there’s no real revolver group to compete against, why show up other than to get in some practice. Which you can do yourself.

  3. Good idea I’ll contact them.
38SC has the same case capacity and near identical diameter to 9mm. So using similar bullet weights and similar charges to 9mm should yield similar pressures to 9mm. I usually find a 9mm load that looks like it will work in 38SC. Then i reduce by 20% and work up to the PF i need.
Only shoot in guns chambered in 357 obviously.

  4. 3.7 grains of American Select under a 135 gn Bayou bullet makes 127 pf out of my 627 pc. Haven’t tried a 147 grain bullet but you would be safe somewhere below 3.5 grains.

In testing i went up to 4.6 grains of American Select with 135 bayous with no pressure signs. (I don’t recommend this as it’s unneccesary.)

One issue with American Select is that it is large flakes. So metering the smaller weights can be inconsistent. I found that my powder drop was bridging powder if the weight was below 4.0 grains. At 4.0 and above it was consistent. So for 38SC i moved away from American Select. However, i use American Select in every other target load for any other caliber because it has consistently given me the tightest groups. Great powder

A prototype of what you guys are asking for already exists from Ruger. It was shot at the IRC and USPSA nationals. Somewhere in the 7-8lb trigger weight I believe. Most likely a production version months out.

This is very exciting news. I was at the IRC but had to shoot the first two days with the range officers because i couldn’t be there for the main two days. I’m so sorry i missed seeing this gun. I’ll be one of the first in line to try it when they roll it out. Thanks for the heads up. And MWP, congrats on the IRC win!

  6. Now that Ruger is an ICORE sponsor and appears to be poised to make a serious push in the competition circuit, I’ll be interested if they make any efforts to redesign some things. If the Redhawk internal design could be revamped, it would be awesome. It’s hard for me to imagine the  Redhawk displacing the 627 without making that trigger substantially better.

  7. I have been using 4.2 gns of American Select. Fills the case well and burns clean and consistent. It’s been accurate for me out of my Dan Wesson 715.  Makes power factor. Probably at the edge of or slightly over 38+p pressures.

I have also used VV320 with success.
