Just wanted to add to this conversation. I am down to my last pound of SIL and wanted to test some Major Pistol to use at Area 1 and Oregon State Championship. SIL has been good to me for a few years. I've noticed the Major Pistol has more of a straight upward rise vs up/right rise with SIL.

This is what I got out of my Atlas Chaos. Temp was approximately 45 degrees. Readings from a LabRadar.

    9.75-9.8 gr - CCI 500 - PD 124gr - 1.169 OAL

    Average: 1366

    Highest: 1379

    Lowest:  1352

    Extreme spread: 27

    StdDeviation: 9.9

    Shots: 10

    PF: ~169

I'm really trying to decrease my SD. Recent switch over to a Mighty Armory 9mm TNT die. I've seen about a 4-5 decrease from the Dillon die. Who knows...

    Any input?

Just a heads up, you can try playing with the spring weights and/or with shock buffers to change how the gun handles as far as dot tracking. Something happened with a new lot that’s out with SWMP.  My gun has smaller popels than yours(my buddy runs a chaos and had sams results with this lot ending in 314)  and I’m having to put 10.5 with a ton of crimp to make 171pf. Before I put a ton of crimp on brass, I was getting a ton of unburnt powder in this lot.  That didn’t seem to be an issue in previous lot numbers.  It does handle very well, and the dot tracks straight up and down.  It did take some playing with the springs and shock buffs for me tho.

I've read in several places that it is slightly reverse temp sensitive.  I've also read several posts that said they needed 10+gr with a 124.  All I can say is they must have a batch of the slower, mislabeled powder.  I'm at 10.2 with a 115 for 169 PF.  I tried a couple of 124s over 9.5gr.  I didn't chrono them, but they were considerably harsher than the 115 load.

Yeah I’m not sure what happened on the most recent batch, but it is slow af and leaves a ton of unburnt powder in the gun

Is anyone else running this powder on a Mark 7 Evolution/Revolution? I think because it’s such a fine grain powder it’s causing inconsistent powder drops for me. I’m getting some at 10.1 grains and others at 8 grains.

I’m running it on an auto drive, and it meters perfectly with the 1050 powder drop.

Magnum or SR primers significantly reduce extreme spread/SD with AA7 yielding a more complete burn.

Gun is much cleaner after 500 rounds as well, without the un-burned powder in the gun.

I expect the same results with SWMP.

Work up your loads as usual of course whenever you change a component.

Magnum / SR primers may add 1-3 PF to your existing load (assuming 1.165-1.185 OAL with 115,124 bullets, etc..)

That’s a good idea. I have a ton of srp. I’ll give em a shot before I buy a bunch of magnum primers.  Thnx dude.

30F94DBF-AF28-4245-A74A-1B8B080C8DC6.jpeg  I don’t really love their long basepads. They have sharp edges and I’ve seen a bunch of them explode.  But I would love to have their metal mags for the PCC.  I always have issues with the feed lips bending and whatnot. I’ll be waiting to buy a few of the metal Glock mags.

It does suck, but not as much as starting from scratch.

I've actually considered trying the SW Auto Pistol since they compare that to HS-6.  That would really be starting over though and I'm not sure I feel like doing that.

I ran auto comp for a long time.  And the gun handled very similar to the way it does now with the major pistol. I may try the auto pistol also just to see what it’s like

  7. I’m running at 1050  with Ammo bot. I run them about 1800 with about 10.4 grains of shooters world. I use that little brush for sale at Ben Stoeger’s website. It’s only about $20 and it solved the issue. I didn’t have to put any bearings or any of those items on the press. I recommend checking it out for sure. It snapped on the press, it goes after the powder drop, before the bullet feeder. It works great

I just shot SWMP with my new Venom Custom with 5.4" KKM with 2 popel holes and a 3 port BE comp. Here were my results measured with my lab radar...

    124 Gr MG CMJ

    GM200M Primers

    Weight Powder Velocity PF
    124 9.5 1394 173
    124 9.7 1417 176
    124 9.9 1430 177

That more of what i was expecting.  I was shocked to find out that I was going to need 10.5 to make major @ around 170pf. And this gun is the same speed as my last gun in which I used 7.3 of autocomp to make 170.  I may shoot them an email or something.

Well I just got back from a chrono session and I have the same mislabeled product.  It took me 8.8 gr. to reach the same power factor of 152 that I was able to make with 8.0 gr. with powder from my previous order.  And my ES and SD s have went to crap.  Used same re-calibrated scales (2) as before, same gun, same bullet etc....

Have sent the info to Shooters World and see what they say.

It was 20 degrees cooler (70F) here today than in august but I kept the rounds in front of my trucks heater for the hour drive to the range and  left them in the truck until they were loaded in the magazine. So it shouldn't be much of a factor.

I’m having the same results.  Running 10.4-10.5 for 124’s to make major.  Did you contact them?   I was also wondering if something was wrong.  This just didn’t seem right.  I’ve heard 9.8 is kind of the magic number for a full size gun running 124’s.  I only have 2 1/8” popel holes.

  10. This is what I heard that a 124gr bullet would be around 170pf.  I have an Akai with an island barrel with 2,  .125 popels.  I went up to 10.3 and tried again.  I ended up right at 165pf.  I’m going to have to go up to 10.5 which I thought was crazy.  It shot great and it’s clean, but dayumm that’s a lot of powder. Anyone else having results like this.  Oal is 1.170

This is exactly what I have seen at the last couple of years i was involved as an RO at Multigun Nats in Vegas.  Normal, experienced 3 gunners (all of whom have excellent safety records at every other 3 gun match in the country) were walking on eggshells at the this match. Why?  They weren't afraid (necessarily) about DQing while on the clock.  they were worried about all the nit-picking going on off the clock.  And yes, i understand that USPSA has it's rules for "reasons", blah blah blah... But most Outlaw, UML, 3GN, et al. matches have great safety records too despite not having a 100 page rule book.

The biggest hindrance is the RO's lack of willingness to educate and drive to collect DQ's.  Now, you are saying to yourself, "well, that's unfair, not all RO's are like that" and you'd be correct. IMO it was just the ones wearing the NROI jerseys. Example: a couple of years ago I saw a competitor digging around in their rifle bags for a box of shotshells.  This person was in between the safe table and the preload table.  The person found the box he/she was looking for, and placed it on the table before standing up.....Whoops, placed it on the wrong table.  the RO could get over there fast enough to throw them out. Why?  Would it not have been better to correct the shooter, kindly educate them of the reasons no ammo is allowed in the safe area and let them fix the error.

If you can't see why discretion should be applied to the ruleset, then you are part of the problem.  (and before you set up this strawman: no, it does not mean we are going to let every infraction slide, nor is it just a free-for-all).

There are def those type of RO’s out there. Would be nice if we could get some fresh faces, and younger CRO’s that actually shoot to step up.  I know here locally we have some new folks looking to get CRO certified before next years nats. It’s a slow process, but as long as we’re making progress I see that as a good thing.  Hopefully we’ll have fixed some more of the issues by next year.  Most of the folks that actually attended this year said that it was def better than previous years.  Hopefully we can continue that.

    Thanks,

Most folks used carts in this match.  You were allowed to take long guns off the carts where ever it was as long as the muzzle orientation stayed the same.  For example, if you cart was muzzle down it needed to stay that way till you got to the preload table. Shannon worked with range masters to make sure this wasn’t an issue.  But you are correct on the pistol thing but everyone was made well aware. The 3 ft rule shouldn’t come into play.  I’m not sure who the genius was that started setting rifles on the ground, but what a dumb move.  Keith was the only guy that was actually faster doing that.  The next 3 finishers on that stage actually did it correctly.

How far to the rear is the plunger sticking? Is it all the way to the rear, or is the rim of the case stopping at the edge of the shellplate?

Is there a trick to keep it from snagging on the piece of brass above the one that it’s feeding?  That’s where I’m having the issues.  Mostly on 9mm. 40 and 223 work great. Unfortunately I load mostly 9mm tho.

The replies are negative due to the fact that another major match is gone from the west coast. Like every single pistol national and IPSC national being there wasn't already enough. USPSA doesn't have any other 3 gun match on the west coast. Feels exactly like what 3 gun nation did and I'm no longer a member of their organization due to that.

I shot the last western regional in UT a few years ago. Keep in mind this is before everyone was boycotting 3GN.  There was only 100 shooters or so.  I think that’s when Charles decided that was the last western match for them. I personally live in FL and I love traveling out west to different matches.  It’s nice to get out of you current environment and meet some new folks.
