My STI Trojan would not feed reliably with any 10-round magazines...This same gun will run like a sewing machine with any 9-round mags I've ever tried.
That's what I keep hearing. I know there are exceptions, which I've read about here, but that 10th round seems to create a lot of issues. 9 round mags of almost any type are golden.

Stainless Springfield Range officer.
Or if not a similar Les Baer.
There were many times I thought about a Les Baer...but I always end up going another direction. I can't quite get there for some reason.

Or if anyone posts one of Don Golembieski's guns for sale.
I've yet to see one of the Kodiak Precision guns in person. I haven't even seen the website before in searches for it. Post a photo here if you have one of his guns.

I would be tempted (possibly) to do 9mm instead of .40 but I prefer major for scoring. Maybe I should be one of those guys who just trains hard with minor and outshoots the other guys. Then there's the whole battle of trying to get that 9mm 10 rounder to work right...ugh.
Of course, there's always room for another .45 in the house...

Carry - Nighthawk Border Special 1911 or Kimber Super Carry Pro 1911 or Wilson EDCX9

Kimber Stainless Target (I) .45
The 1911 I’ve carried the most is my Kimber Super Carry Pro. I love the bobtail Commander models.

I have a couple of nice Limited .40s in my SVI and CK Arms sight tracker models. I'm wanting a 1911 that can run the same loads as my limited guns. I also like to buy quality and not have to buy/sell my way up the food chain. So I'm looking at custom and semi-custom options.
-
My last 1911 was the Nighthawk Border Special, which is a carry gun for me. I've been thinking about starting in SS but haven't made up my mind about what gun I will use. I'm thinking it might be the gun I don't own yet...hah. I've been looking at 1911 .40s from Atlas, Nighthawk, etc but no decisions yet. It will be a govt frame size and setup for SS.
What's next on your list?

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like you wouldn't change a thing about yours.

Spare guns much easier even if it’s not the same as your Shadow. Making range repairs isn’t easy.
List looks good. Only thing I would add is some spare fiber optic. If you have a FO sight. I’ve broke a few of those over the years
Agreed. It's been very helpful to have a backup S2 on occasion. I always carry a package of fiber optics of assorted colors in the range bag. They break rarely but depending on the conditions, I've changed colors since I wear glasses and can't switch those lenses.

What have the backlogs been like on the custom builds? I've heard many good things about Cheely. He has a loyal fan base.

My 929 went down on me at a match today, again. Need to decide if I want to try and find someone to repair the crane or if I want to deal with the hassles of sending a competition modified gun in for repair.
If the new Ruger triggers can be made even decent there is no way I would not take the new Ruger over the 929.
Do you mind sharing more of what has happened? Sounds like something you've experienced before. I'm trying to decide on some 929's but don't have experience with them.

Those 2 videos were fantastic. I was surprised to see the lack of holster wear on what most people would consider a high mileage gun. Thanks for taking the time to put that together. Also, I haven't used that Lucas oil or the electronic aerosol but I'm going to check that out.
I have thought numerous times of getting an Atlas single stack. This has got me thinking again...

I saw it 3x. The acting was better than I expected. Good chemistry between Bale and Damon. What's not to like about a movie filled with Stingrays, GT40s, Ferraris, Cobras, etc.

Well there you go. Thanks. I've used Starline in so many pistols and revolvers with good success but haven't owned a 929 (yet).
-
If SL says not to use it in Ti then that's gospel as far as I'm concerned. I had never heard that before. Thanks!

Who has experience with the Ron Power Grand Master custom PPC revolvers? It would be great to see photos and hear about your range experiences. If you haven't seen the Ron Power custom build for Clint Smith or videos related to that, check them out. Clint talks about wearing out a 100 yd target with his.

Win or speer brass
No starline in a titanium cyl
That's the first I've heard about no Starline brass in titanium cylinders. I'm wanting to get a S&W 929 but most of my brass is Starline. I've always had good results with Starline. Why is it sticking in titanium chambers?

Agreed on the quad loads...gun handling continues to improve. Most actors don’t work that hard but Keanu’s gun handling looks good.
-
First two were better. The scenes with Halle’s two Belgian Malnois were creative and interesting.

Get all of Ben’s and Steve’s books...Bassham too. Here’s another fantastic resource on how talent is created...The Talent Code by Daniel Coyle.

Is the magazine retaining screw staked in the S2? Seems to be in there pretty tight.

Ack...that's what I get for multi-tasking when I posted. Mag release is what I need switched. I will edit post.
What's your next 1911 going to be?

I really liked the Ruger 1911 in 9mm that I had for awhile. It was the softest shooting 1911 I've used. Might be something to consider for your wife. It was a great pistol.
