  1. Longshot, yes the Dawson's do in fact work on the MecGar P18 mags. I did need the Arredondo inserts to keep the follower from slipping onto its side.
  2. Do you need the aredondo insert? Do you NEED those springs or are factory springs good enough? Mine seems to work well with the original. I just get the follower tipping at the bottom.
  3. I'll check later. I don't think it's a quarter inch. Guess I'd feel more comfortable with a mill.
  4. Here are a few pictures of the magwell, the recessed cut into the frame, and the magazine that comes with the 9mm/tcm 2011 hi cap.
  5. When I say new one I meant the new Hi-Cap 2011 pistol with magwell - the frame is actually cut higher in order to fit the magwell in - thus the dawson basepads work with the Mec-Gar P18 mags. Interestingly enough, actual Para P18 mags will not fit either my old TCM or the new 2011.
  6. They don't work with my old ria tcm/9mm. The new one has a frame cut for the mag well.
  7. I did get my hands on a 9mm RIA 2011 Hi-Cap (the TCM/9MM) and it works great. Dawson's great mag extensions do fit with Mec-Gar P18 magazines - in fact they fed fine with the standard magazine spring. I think I need to get a liner for the mag extension, as the follower did bind once I got past 19 rounds in the magazine.
  8. I have Mec Gar P14 mags for my RIA 2011 .45 ACP hi-cap and Mec Gar P18 mags for my RIA 2011 9mm hi-cap. Dawson mag extensions fit and work with both magazines - which is somewhat of a surprise since Dawson's website says they won't work with the Mec-Gar P18s. Two questions - 1. Do I need to use extra long and extra strength springs? I tried Wolf +10% springs and they're damn difficult to load. The factory springs seem to work just fine. Am I missing something? 2. With the 9mm magazine I did get the follower binding up when I go past 19 rounds - I understand that a base pad insert is necessary to fix this. The only ones I could find are Arredondo - am I missing another manufacturer? I've heard that Arredondo mag accessories can be hit or miss (reviews from Midway and Brownells) thanks!
  9. I know a dealer with a .40 available - PM me if you'd like details.
  10. Also, I have some Mec-Gar P18 mags (The kind that Dawson says won't work with their basepads) - and just for fun I slapped a Dawson basepad on it. As promised, it was not able to fit into my Rock TCM/9mm Out of sheer curiosity I dropped it into my .45 RIA (pictured above) and it fit perfectly. The mag locked into place, and the slide release went up when I brought the slide back. The magwell on my 2011 M1911A2 45 is higher cut into the frame of the pistol, where as my TCM/9mm is not. We'll see if this combo actually works in the 51679 when I get it.
  11. Just got in some Mec Gar P14 mags, wolf extended springs and Dawson Para base pads - works like a charm.
  12. I did a quick trigger job using existing parts and my Ed Brown sear jig and a little polish. Took it down to 3.5 pounds and the accuracy really firmed up - everything was at 7-10 yards, however. I ordered some Dawson basepads and wolf extra powered springs - I hope they'll work. I'll let you know!
  13. I got mine from Drury Firearms - I got the .45 but he has (as of Friday) a .40 left.
  14. I've been lusting after these for awhile, so when a local dealer announced they had one I jumped on it. I really wanted one in 9mm, but this will do for now. Most of my experience has been with single stack 1911s, so this platform is new to me. I was surprised by the extra weight from the full dust cover and rail. The rear sights are adjustable LPA novak style, with two odd white dots that I intend to black out. Front sight is fiber optic and dovetailed in. It appears to take P14 mags, as the magazine it came with (mecgar) is marked P14. It does come with a magwell installed, so I'm unsure what mag extensions will fit with it. I was impressed by how tigh tthe slide/frame fit was. Certainly better than my Springfield Loaded 1911s, as well as my RIA Tac 1911 9mm. Trigger broke at 5 1/2 pounds. The gun fed hardball without a hitch, but did fail to go into battery the first few rounds of Missouri 200 SWC. After the first few FTF, however, it ran fine. Accuracy at 50' was ok at just over 2 1/2" with ball, and 2" with the SWC. I'm hoping this shrinks a bit after some trigger work. The gun felt HUGE in my hands. I'm used to a single stack 1911 with slim grips, and this pistol is immense. I'm sure you S_I/Para/Caspian fellas are used to this grip, but this is a hog. The VZ grips offered a lot of traction control and the gun didn't move in my hands. Not much else to say. I know there hasn't been a lot of info out on these guns, so I thought a review may help some folks. Feel free to ask any questions.
  15. In stock and ordered - http://grabagun.com/armscor-island-51679-m1911-tac-2011-9mm.html
  16. How are you planning on running STI mags through this?
  17. Will you have this problem with Dlask? How about caspian?
  18. I have a TCM Rock Island - can I use a STI 2011 trigger in it?
  19. Interesting. I picked one up and shot it yesterday - I didn't notice any play in my 9mm barrel when in battery. I'd love to find a 51679 - but I'm concerned about finding mags for it. What magwell do you think is on that thing? Did you put a magwell on your TCM?
  20. Anyone have any experience with the TCM/9mm pistol? I'm wondering who makes a decent extended mag release and ambi safety for this? I'm assuming its a Para Ord style frame, but wondering if anyone knows for sure or has done something similar? I'm interested in setting this up for Limited. Also, anyone have a line on grips for this? Thanks!
  21. I have a g17 lower and was thinking about ordering a Lone Wolf G34 slide and shooting production. Is this legal, or would it only be cool for Limited?
  22. Captain037 - did you swap to a new factory 9/40 extractor and no other parts, or did you change the spring bearing as well?
  23. I'm thinking about trying an extended ejector for problems I'm experiencing with my open gun. I'm looking at the Glockworx extended ejector - has anyone installed one? How does it install? It looks like the ejector housing is one solid unit - do you pry the old one out of the old ejector and just jam the new one in? I must be missing something. Thanks!
