Remington and Mossberg have now standardized detachable box magazines in the 870 and 590 line of pump shotguns. I can only imagine that they will make their way to the popular semi-auto shotguns shortly. Currently this would place the shooter in Open division. So should we fight the future to retain our caddies, vests, and quad loads? Or start planning on allowing these types of shotguns in the other divisions?
Box mag fed= Open. If match directors want to have Heavy Open for the pump shotgunners shooting .308 and .45's, that's up to them.

same here then the chrono quit so got an up grade to whatever is current now.
I also have a MK3 that I use for chronographing ammo.

Way back, Pact did a trade in for the original models. Mine went back and got a newer model. I still have a MK4 and it still works fine.
-
The original had a lead acid battery. The newer ones didn't, hence the "Lighter" description. Also, when you turned on the originals, the display came up with Made For and the owners name.

Did you lube the gas rings too?

I see people complaining about using their Carry Optics in Open, rather than have a new division for this. Jerry Miculek shoots Open with an M&P set up for Carry Optics all the time. I've squadded with people that shot Open, and simply loaded their shotguns up to capacity, and used longer mags in their pistol. They shot the matches within the rules, and had a good time. Well, Jerry probably still won his division.

I was just reviewing the January 2018 Rule book and I noticed that in Appendix D4 (Heavy Metal Tactical Division) there seems to be a contradiction. Item 3 (Minimum caliber / Cartridge), under Handgun, it lists .429 / 44 Special. But in item 6 (Minimum Caliber for Major), again under Handgun, it lists .40 / 10mm. I'm guessing one might just be a typo but which is correct?
Major and Heavy Metal are not interchangeable.

This is related to reloading, how?
-
Honestly, it depends on the stage at the match I'm currently at. It can change drastically from stage to stage.

Just get yourself a scope whose “daylight visible” illumination is not that.... then you don’t have to worry about whether or not to turn it on ???????
Hell, I seldom turn on the illumination on my Vortex Spitfire!

Your local gunsmith does not know anything about a Versamax.

The holes are offset, if the pin doesn't move from one side try the other. Because of the offset, you need a smaller diameter punch than the hole size.

Mr Weak Hand has the best answer! Don't get hung up on a particular bullet weight then complain it doesn't shoot.

For all you RM3G veterans, your feedback on these tentative travel plans is welcomed-
Fly into Denver, rent a car, shoot the match, drive car South to Albuquerque, fly home from ALB.
It looks like 3 hours from Raton to either airport, I figure at least this way I get to see more of the country.
Good plan? Bad plan?
Bryan,
I usually fly into Albuquerque. As you noticed the distance almost identical between Denver and Albuquerque. Take both the cost of the flights and car rental into account. Usually Albuquerque is substantially less costly, off setting any price advantage of flying into Denver.
The best way to see more of the country out there is take extra time for vacation. That's the plan for HeMan this year.
I hope to see you out there. Oh, get your cardio game on, there is no oxygen for low landers out there.

So a few turns in a vise should do just fine then?
Merry Christmas...Ya Grinch!
I'm not sure on a CZ, I recall that Tanfoglio's would need welding. The old ones were hard as a rock. The vise would just crack those.

I know this is an older thread, but has additional light been shed on this?
My CZ needs a light bevel before the 2018 season begins.
Thanks guys.
Sorry Pat, YOUR gun needs to have the mag well welded to make mag changes a press fit.
Merry Christmas.

That was supposed to be out a year ago, wasn't it?

By the way, I use an Uncle Mikes 1911 holster for Single Stack. I can relate to the old shoulders, mine sound like branches cracking now.
-
Why not a Vortex Spitfire?
-
See the rule book, Appendix D5, #20 on the holster. The entire front strap must be above the belt.

Welcome!
If you want to try 3 gun, Johnson 3 Gun runs monthly matches at the Whittington Center in Raton, along with the He Man Nationals and Rocky Mountain 3 Gun.

I agree. Unfortunately I’ve done this multiple times with different hobbies. The “best of the best” doesn’t stay there long! This should last me for a while though and another perk for buying high end is that it holds resale value great!
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI never worried about resale value. I set my stuff up to what I liked, could afford, or what was currently available. Often a combination of the 3!

What you meant to say is that you're getting your gear just the way you want it for the time being. As you get into the game more, you may find that some suggestions don't exactly work for you.
Nosler 50gr ballistic tip load for AR15?

I've not used the 50 grain Ballistic Tip, but use the 55's as one of my accuracy bullets. I would try H335 and a charge of 26.0 that should shoot pretty well.
