I'm 99% sure the mag itself is not hanging up on anything. What's causing the mag to not drop free is the top round shift forward. Then it hits the front of the frame preventing it from dropping free. However, I don't know to fix the top round from shifting forward. The slide must be dragging it forward when it closes.
-
I marked my mags thinking one in particular was being the problem child. The problem didn't seem to follow one particlar mag. I think the most flustrating part is it only happens every 50-100 rds. Just when you think its gone or fixed....
It's probably in another thread, but does anyone have the 1911 mag specs handy? Particularly the feed lips.
-
This thread is pretty old. Did you guys ever get to the bottom of this? I have CMC power mags with the factory springs and I started having both the problems mentioned in this thread. One scenario happens when a 1/2 empty mag won't drop free because the top round has shifted forward. Second scenario happens after last round drags follower forward and that hangs up on the frame preventing a free drop.

Looks like a very soft shooting 9mm! I need a 9mm single stack gun

I have the Techwell system on my Springfield RO. Very nice system and super easy to install.

I'm in the same boat right now. Looking for a dual purpose limited gun for 3gun and USPSA. Torn on the 9mm vs running a .40 minor. For the guys that run .40 minor for 3 gun then major for USPSA, does it throw your game/ rhythm to change back and forth with the same gun?

There's some great information in this thread. Every reloader should keep this in mind and have a plan for the worst case.

I wouldn't be too worried about those small dings in the neck or shoulder. The neck dings will be fixed with the sizing die. Depending how large, those shoulder dings sometimes come out after they're fired. The shoulder will fire-form to your camber and sometimes fix the "ding".

I run MG 124gr seated to 1.165" with the spacers in. Never had a feeding issue yet.
-
Those DVC models are ridiculous. Heck of a pistol for a factory produced blaster.
-
I've never seen that hole pattern before. Maybe a plate to hold a slide racker?
-
I thought the factory RO sights were pretty good. I didn't like the sharp edges on the rear sight when manipulating the slide in a hurry. I put a set of Dawsons on to fix that issue. I like the fiber front sight.

Could you imagine shooting a compensated gun in an enclosed room without hearing protection.

I haven't bought into Froglube as a gun lubricant yet, but I have been putting it on my Grand Master comp. It seems to work wonders for that. I apply it every 1000 rounds or so. That combination with MG JHP leaves very little junk build up in the comp.

Congrats sporter!
Here's a list of the goodies I hung on my 45acp RO and haven't regretted one bit --
Dawson FO front sight
G10 grips
Extended mag release
Smith and Alexander magwell
Dawson grip tape on the front strap
I also switched springs, but you'll need advice from 9mm 1911 shooters on what springs you may expect to be best. I know in the 45acp models the factory springs are a couple pounds heavier than we want for competition loads.
You may also want to go with a magwell with a bigger flare. I like the trim look of the S&A, but I also know I'm giving up some magwell size with that choice.
ttolliver - what springs are you running in your 45 RO? I've been running the stock spring (16# I think?) and it's been very reliable, but going to a lower spring probably would help smooth it out with lower 170PF ammo. Thanks!

Les makes some works of art.

I really like the long flat trigger.

Love that color combination!

Theoretically the 45 and 40 should have the same recoil backwards if loaded to the same power factor. Due to different bullets weights and powder burn rates the impulse the shooter feels is a bit different. I've always like the classic 45 for SS. I do have my eyes on a 40 for SS just to lower component cost for shooting/reloading it.

I just got my Strike Eagle last night. For the price it looks very nice. I hope to get it mounted up later this week and try it out. Its replacing a Burris MTAC 1-4x. Hopefully will post some more details later.
Finally got out to the range to try out my new Strike Eagle. Very easy to sight in with precise turrets. I love the reticle. Coming from the Burris MTAC, the reticle is less cluttered for long, precise shots. Yet the post are thick enough for quick sight alignment on close to mid-range targets. Very nice glass clarity for the price. No complaints yet. Now i just need a quick throw lever.

My Blue Bullets trial pack should be here this week. I'll try the Dillon flairing die to start out. Hopefully it works just fine.

IC, LM, M are the 3 I use the most, with IC and LM seeing the most use.
I will be ordering some tomorrow, I don't know how good this price is but I can sell them to you for $40.00 each.
This style in Win choke
I think Benelli's are $45.00
We are a dealer for them.
ETA, I missed that you had a Benelli on the first read.
I'll check out your website. That looks like a great price. Based on everyone's input LM and IC look to be a great starting place. I've been using the stock Benelli modified and IC chokes, so that would make sense.

I wanted to get some Briley extended choke tubes for my M2. I probably don't have the cash to buy a whole set. If you could pick 2 or 3 chokes, what tubes would you get for 3-gun? IC, Light mod, ect? I understand there's not a magical one-tube-fits-most approach, but want to see what most guys are running 90% of the time at matches. Thanks!

Awesome. Can't wait to try these new coated bullets out.
550b primer feeding problem
in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
Posted
The biggest thing I found with my 550 priming system, is cleaning the bottom of the primer slider bar every 1000 rounds or so. Once it gets caked with burnt powder residue it will get hung up on the way back and might not grab a fresh primer
