  1. Hey guys - I got a deal on some Rainier 147g. TRN bullets and I wanted to see how they run out of my Glock 34. The trouble is that my Sierra manual has nothing for this bullet weight, much less a TRN projectile. I was hoping somebody could enlighten me on a good starting charge and oal. I've been running 4.2 grains of Tite Group under a Remmy 115g. JHP with very good results. I would like to stick with TG as my powder (I bought in bulk), but wasn't sure how long to seat the new TRNs versus my old JHPs. Thanks for any guidance on the matter. -PS
  2. Thank you gentlemen. Now the real work begins. -PS-
  3. I cracked open Steve's Refinement and Repetition tonight in hopes motivating myself to become a better shooter. I've shot a handful of USPSA matches here in Central Ohio, but it has been quite a while to say the least. I've always had fun, but I know that I haven't even come close to reaching my potential. This is the reason I've decided to make a commitment to more dry fire and practice, but I have some concerns. I had been shooting a Glock 34 in production and am wondering how effective the Glock will be for dry fire drills. Should I switch to a DA trigger (i.e. revolver,Beretta, etc.) for multiple trigger pulls? How can I best tailor Steve's excercises to suit me and my gun? Any and all advice is welcome and appreciated. Thanks upfront! -PS- A thousand pardons if this has been addressed, but the search results weren't exactly fruitful.
  4. Great post. I too have been having problems with my OAL. There can be a difference of .040 or more. I thought I was losing my mind and was about to rip my hair out. I was also seating the test rounds one by one. I'll go back and try it your way (with a shellplate full of brass). Most of my brass is commercial (CCI and PMC seem to be the majority), and I'll mic my rainier .40s. I'll get back with you all if I keep having problems. Thanks for the fixes
  5. Flexmoney, I think I forgot to mention that I am retarded. I don't know how I missed that data. I thought I checked out hodgdon.com! Oh well, nobody's perfect. Thanks for enlightening me and hopefully I'll see you at the shoot on Saturday. BTW, the 22 is working out nicely. I put about 50 rounds through it the other day and am ready to make some more holes.
  6. I've noticed a lot of guys and gals with loads for 180 Gr. bullets, but I can't find anything for a 135 Gr. Flat Point. My Sierra manual doesn't even list Titegroup under 135 Gr. bullet! Anyone with a suitable load please help. I'm looking for a nice soft target load, but anything will help at this point. I figure 5.0 grains will work nicely, but I am weary of loading without any sort of data. Thanks ahead of time.
  7. It sounds as if you have decided on the Bladetech, but a big plus one on Kytac. I was able to "test drive" one for a 34 (w/ Dawsons) and it was great. Everyone rants about how fast they are, but apparently I'm not good enough to realize how quick the holster is. In fact, my new Kytac should be here in a couple days. I personally can't wait and I think I'll be ordering more than one. BTW, if you don't care about an IDPA legal holster, call Kytac and let them know. They can "make it the right way". At least that's what I was told. Hope this helps.
  8. I recently (within two months) started having problems with my WSP. I figured it was due to a light striker on my "tuned" Glock 34, but I was denting them with a stock G23 and "it no go bang". I know Winchester has hard primers, but to have about 10 FTFs in 100 rounds seemed a little high I thought I had a bad lot, but now I wonder. Anyhow, I went ahead and made the switch to Federal and I've been quite pleased. Thanks for the info about Winchester/Olin.
