  1. I have finally saved up enough money to complete my Glock Small Frame QC10 lower.  I thought I might do a final check here before making my purchases.  Although I have read and researched, I am still a little tentative when it comes to the interaction and compatibility of different buffer/bolt/barrel/upper combinations....bolt weights, spring strength, ramped, unramped, etc.

FWIW, for pistol I usually shoot 124gr Bayous, over 4.3 grains of WSF at 1.11, but  I would be willing to load something different if that matters, over even use factory ammo.

Anyway, does this purchase list seem ok?  Any dumb decisions in there?  Maybe I could go cheaper, or maybe I should spend more?

    1. Faxon 16" barrel

    2. QC10 MUR

    3. Taccom Standard Bolt

    4. Taccom PCC Adjustable Recoil System

I appreciate the opinions and help!

  2. I'm going to push and say you should totally get one.  They can be found used in the low $400 range.  At the very least you will end up with a really durable, reliable and accurate handgun that holds 19+1 with a flush fit mag.

  3. The recoil characteristics are definitely different than an SP01.  It may not cycle as quickly, but I have no proof of that.  Mags are expensive and proprietary.  Trigger will most likely never make you as happy as a nicely tuned SP01.  You can adjust the backstrap on a P09, but on an SP01 you can mess with grip width which might be more beneficial.  Mags are wide up by the nose of the bullet, and the magwell isn't huge, so you can probably reload quicker with the SP01.

The weight is that strange in between area.  Not heavy like a shadow, not light like a Walther.  I like it.  I see no real difference in accuracy.  Maybe a slight edge to the P09.  They are really easy to work on.  I think SP01's look way better, but P09s are very inexpensive.

I think they are great.  I shoot them all the time,  run them really hard and have never been bothered by the trigger.  Bottom line, I have never felt like it was holding me back in any way, but I could see it annoying an M or GM production shooter who usually shoots a Shadow.

  4. Even though I love and shoot P09s almost exclusively, I consider them to kind of be their own thing, not really that similar to the rest of the metal CZ guns. You either like them or you don't.

On on the other hand, if you want to know why CZ is such a big deal for competition, you should definitely go SP01.....shadow if you can.  You will almost certainly love it, or at the very least, appreciate the design.

  5. I have not been reloading for long, but I am still using what I started with.  WSF with a 124gr round nose bullet from Bayou.  It meters well, doesn't seem very smokey to me, and my gun isn't very dirty.  As an additional benefit, a member here, Darrell, recently made available an excel file with a truly amazing amount of very detailed WSF/124 load data.

  6. If all the stuff on the web is right, then the sig p320 is not bug legal any more.  It has a 3.6" barrel and the new max is 3.5"

    Additionally, the new bug box is  6 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 1 3/8", and the p320 subcompact (from the sig website) is 6.7" x 4.7" x 1.3".

  7. The bottom of the decocker dug into my strong hand (right) as well.  I popped it off and snapped on the right side safety lever instead.  It has a much lower profile with not as much material on the bottom.  Since it is on the right side, it doesn't affect the function of the decocker and is an oem unaltered part.

  8. I tested this load last night. Medium recoil, not very much smoke, and the 15 yard freestyle accuracy was nice.

    4.2gr WSF, 1.11 OAL, .377 crimp
    mixed brass, federal primers
    Temp: 76 °F

    5 1063 311.17 131.81
    4 1051 304.19 130.32
    3 1059 308.84 131.32
    2 1075 318.24 133.30

Average: 1055.4 FPS with a PF of 130.87

  9. I agree with busdriver02. I think you can get pretty far with the just following ($45) plus a really good polishing session:

    13lb blue hammer spring
    reduced power trigger return spring
    15lb "gold" recoil spring
extended firing pin (comes with spring)
The Dawson sights are nice. I like the tall ones, but the low profile are nice as well.
The short reset kit is nice, but I think the P09s shoot pretty well anyway, and like busdriver02 says, it really shines in combination with the CGW hammer.
I like the OEM steel guide rod, with or without the end cap.
  10. I have both, and have shot both in a few small matches. I prefer the P09 because of the way it recoils and they way the sights return. For whatever reason, it feels very controllable and comfortable for me. It is also extremely accurate, or at least mine seems to be. It is a nice medium weight pistol...not super light, but not hard to drive around. I also find it easy to work on and enjoy all the cool parts options from CGW and CZcustom. I also think it is kind of ugly and weird in a utilitarian sort of way, but I think that only makes me like it more.

The PPQ M2 has a great striker fired trigger, excellent accuracy, a great mag release button, and points really naturally. It is very light and this could be a positive or negative. It flies out of the holster, and is easy to move and cycles very quickly, but it can be pretty snappy in recoil. It does seem to come right back on target, however. The stock sights are weird, but the Dawson replacements are great. It is kind of hard to find many holster options and extra mags are kind of expensive, although nothing like the P09. I only have 2 real complaints about the PPQ M2.

    1. For me, the slide release lever extends very far back and can easily get held down. I think I could learn not to touch it, but it would involve changing my grip. I seriously think they could take half an inch off that thing.

    2. When I really clamp down with my grip, my weak hand fingers press the base of my strong hand middle finger right into this weird plastic ridge that "protects" the right side of the mag release button from your grip. Not sure how else to describe it, but it is pretty annoying. I have considered grinding the ridge off, or perhaps trading the whole thing for the paddle release model. This could also just be the way my hands are shaped, because I have never read any other complaints about it.

Hope that helps. I am far from an accomplished shooter, so I'm not sure my opinion should sway you either way, I just happen to have both of those guns.
