I believe I'm at 4.6gr 1.180oal for a 2011

180gr 3.0gr Clays @ 1.135. Great minor load.
-
Ok so I have clays too that I wanted to load in 40 major with a 180 coated bullet in a TS and my oal is 1.135. Is this a bad idea ?
I also have been loading n320 and its fine but wanted something a bit less snappy.
I have these powders available and which order would y'all use them.
N320, win231, wst, clays and tight group.
IMO n320 is the best powder you have for major at any length.
Clays can be dangerous for major, but the best for 40 minor.
All repeated stuff.
I want some good recipes for WST at Glock length.

Trying to find HS6 around here is like looking for a Golden Ticket!
There was a time that my LGS only had HS-6. I got some and hated it. It's been sitting for a while.
-
Heard this on another forum. Is clays and n320 close to the same powder. Have both and people say you can load clays for 40 major but may run into pressure issues being powder is so hot. And seems like n320 is the go to for 40 by most people.
No. It's not the same or close.

There might be some willing to give data for long OAL but for short loads it's not a good idea to go major with Clays. All KBs I've ever see were with Clays.
-
I've been shooting n320 for 9mm loads for a little while now. Now I'm curious to try it for some 180gr 40s&w loads.
An concerns making major at Glock COLs? I'm shooting a Glock 22

No concerns at all. You might just fall in love with it. Start at 4.6gr @ 1.135.

I'm not sure if cfe is part of the top counts. I'd say titegroup, WST, clays and a few others have more popularity than cfe.
-
1.140 has worked for me.
-
WST works out for some.

Powder Valley HAD Clays for all of an hour.

That U-die should be enough to remove Glock bulge. It is for me. I've put away my push through for the EGW U-die. So this does sound interesting.
To follow through: you are sizing as low as you can, right?

Where can we get AS30N or the new named one in the states?
-
To answer your question, nothing feels like Clays.
But if you're looking for a replacement, this topic has quite a few threads here where many have chimed in.
-
Thanks.
Is it a small flake?
Meter well through a dillon?
Burn pretty clean?
Can't comment on the Dillon. I trickle.
It's a small round flake. Similar to Clays. I think it's pretty clean. I've used it in other calibers also.

Sorry, 180gr zeros or mgs is what I use lately.
But I've also heard good about BA-9.5 and BA-10

I saw your post yesterday in Area 6 and wanted to mention RS Comp but it wasn't what you asked. I switched to RS Comp when N320 got hard to find and have loved it since. Makes major easily and very manageable. I'm loading 4.6gr @ 1.180 and I'm getting 171pf. I haven't tried temp sensitivity since this is my first season with RS Comp.
-
Shot 300 rounds of 147gr Xtreme over 3.5gr RS Comp @ 1.130 this weekend. Didn't notice my gun being much dirtier than other powders.
-
Do you have a major? I was at 3.5gr minor and 4.6gr for major. I never shot these at a match. These were test rounds I chrono'd as a back up recipe.
I use different powders now for both.
-
Personally I use 180gr for both. I know of others who switch weights.
-
For ramshot comp it's a normal variation. I use 4.6gr of the same stuff for major.
-
As close as I've found to VV N320 without paying the price for VV. I run it behind a S&S 147FP. Comp is my go to in .45.
RS Competition? I'd like to know more about that.AA #5 is my go to. Have loads developed with Competition, Bullseye, Unique and a couple others.
I run it in 40. Never thought about it for 9mm or 45. I have 8# of it.

I don't know about Clay Dot, I've also heard about the similarities with Clays.
But personally, I would never load Clays for major. I'm sure OAL plays a factor, but I have a great powder for major.
My Clays minor load is 3.0gr of Clays under a 180gr plated. I use the same for fmj and prefer fmj. But club matches and practice days get plated stuff loaded. Plated and coated lead I consider identical.

I digress, but what's your 40 load?
