Did you shoot any that were marked? Did it effect the accuracy? I am ok with the marks as long as it doesn't mess with the accuracy
Thanks -
Yes the ring and streaks down the projectile. No using Dillon Seat die

Don't think they are compressed. Started at 23 grains of CFE223 up to 26 grains. COL at 2.250"
Thanks -
I have loaded a few thousand of hornady 55 grain with no problems on my Dillon 650. I just loaded 20 of the 68 grain HPBT to test some loads and noticed the markings. Processing the brass I decamp, swage, size/trim and then use the Dillon sizer to expand neck. Thought there might be too much friction but projectiles measure out right. Neck is .218 to .221. All 20 cases fit in case gauge after loading and haven't had the chance to shoot them yet. What are the ideas out there to fix or does it matter? Looking to build a round to go to 650 yards.
Thanks

Loaded up 20 rounds 5 each of 23 grains, 24 grains, 25 grains and 26 grains. Seeing now that Hornady was using a 20" barrel for test rifle mine will most likely be slower. Probably starting out around 2500 fps. to about 2800 fps. I see others posting a little bit faster but not going to pull. Will see how these shoot and then dial it in a little closer if needed.

So there is a guy who posts here who started loading shotgun shells with a MEC. He picked up a Dillon, sold his MEC.
Just saying, most shotgun reloaders love MEC, etc. That is all they know. My dad was one, every had a MEC.
It seems to me, those who have experience with the Dillon 650 adapt very easily to the 900.
Dillon 900 is the way to go, picked one up on the cheap and has saved me a good deal of money as a lot of supplies came with the deal. Shotgun club has all the AA free hulls I could possibly pick up. Love my Dillon 900

Put out a 2.5" x 5" plate at 100 yards this weekend inside one of the stages we ran, trying to simulate that 600 yard shot. It only required one hit as the plate was hanging by wire and wouldn't take two. 3 out of 6 guys hit (me being one) it with one shot, It seemed a little too easy or maybe its that easy to hit a full size at 600. I know wind and just the sheer distance will have a huge impact on the 600 yard target, really wish there was a place around Corpus Christi to reach out there.

Thanks biglou13, you have been more than helpful

What are you using for elevation device,. Rice / sand sock? Bipod or bags?
LOL well just whatever is placed in the stage. I do not have anything specifically made for this. I usually use my range bag at 200, at the local matches about 110 is all we have to go to and we use whatever we can lean on. I have not really spent much time at all shooting long distance, actually none. 200 yards is as far as I have ever had the opportunity to do.

So to add to the conversation; what do you think about using smaller targets to simulate the longer shots? The range I belong to only goes out to 200 yards but desperately need to practice much longer shots for the Hard As Hell Multigun match coming up in a few months. Any pointers I can use to help out here?
Which also ties back into my OP, can I count on my load development at 200 yards to be accurate out to 600+?

I couldn't find it either

setting this up for some practice with a few shooting buddies. want some physical, mental and difficulty challenges to test our skills. What do you think? This will be set up in a 100 yard by 50 yard bay.The small 3"X 5" steel will simulate a full target at 600 yards

Thanks for the information, looking forward to working this out

Good luck with the Hornady 68gr HPBT, I couldn't get it to shoot at all.
well dang that is discouraging. What did you try?

Going to start working up a load for my AR to shoot out to 600 yards. Currently going to start with Hornady 68 grain HPBT projectiles and 3 different powders that I have. 1st powder and what I have been using mostly for 3 gun loads is CFE223, 2nd powder will AR Comp and 3rd powder is Varget. Now I have heard praise after praise about Varget but have never used it (wasn't available to start with locally) so I am anxious to get something worked up with that. A buddy of mine uses AR Comp so I got some of that to try out as well. CFE223 has been my go to so far because it is very available locally and has worked out great so I am also anxious to see how it does at the longer shots.
Anyone willing to share some tried and true data they have worked out? Have manuals and planning to start middle ground with all powders and work from that point so really just looking for success stories but any information is always appreciated.

educate me... i can see needing to adjust for weather or altitude if you are a well traveled three gunner. But why the need to adjust all the time? I set mine to my competition load, locked it in and forgot about it. I recently changed my barrel out and had to do the process again but didn't have anything locked up. Sprayed Kroil on it and worked fine.

I am a lefty and use my middle finger to release the mag, it works good for me and will work on all guns...plus i have short thumbs and have to break my grip to reach
Of course if you are right handed you have already figured it out.

Having some trouble doing a good design on this slide. It's my personal and my first to cut on so simple is good but dull. Any ideas out there on how to put one together and stay out of the front serrations?
Thanks

There is still a lot you can do with a basic mill like that. For more information, get on the Home Shop Machinist forum. It is the Enos forum for machining.
You got a link to that forum? Searched but wouldn't come up.

thanks for the information, I will jump right in there.

Ok...so I finally got around to finding a mill and picked one up with a ton of tooling for a really really great price. Found a local RF-30 (i know round column) and will be setting up over the weekend. Has everything I need to start chipping right away. Already have some modifications in mind to improve the machine but wanted to hear from all of the machinists out there what would you consider the top 5 to start with?
A little history on the machine; 10 years old, wired 220, spindle bearings replaced with Fafnir, lightly used by a hobby knife maker. No DRO or power feeds and not to sure I will do that conversion yet or not. I have to find out if I actually like doing this or not. I love the idea of being able to do this just not to sure if the never sit still side of me will allow it.
