DFER, I agree with you. Informing your customers and being up front and straight, vs. keeping it quiet with no updates is no way to treat your customers.
-
Well here's to waiting lol!
-
Why would STI not just confirm ship times with the dealers? ISeems STI is not sharing anything about shipping either - not even projected.
Maybe because you guys are already getting pissed and talking about CC charge backs because imagined or guessed at dates are or might be missed.......maybe
People are getting pissed I guess because there is no definitive time line when the first batch is coming out. I mean when you here around ending of March first week of April and then dealers are saying Sept/Oct time frame when the approximate timeline was 8 weeks from SHOT. Yeah people are getting anxious. If their was only going to be 500 made, stop it at 500 and stop taking more orders. Most companies would have just stopped and wait and once the first 500 went out, would have opened up the orders once more.

Why would STI not just confirm ship times with the dealers? I mean it shouldn't be a big secret. Dawson and Brazos should be the first retailers to get there shipments.I spoke to dawson last week and they are guessing April/May - Even when ordered mine they said March/April - They said I was the first on the list for a 9mm Open Gun. I really think all the dealers are guessing now since no one really has a definitive answer when STI will ship them.

I'm ordering mine on monday lol
-
Thats why I ordered from Dawson Precision, 0 deposit. However I'm not going to be happy either thst it will take till Sept or October when they said initial delivery ending of march beginning of April.I placed my 9mm limited order with Brazos on 1/25. Then they were estimating a late feb/march delivery. I actually called to see if the $400 deposit was refundable and they said no!
While I dont have any regrets at this point in time. If these pistols dont show up for several more months I will be very disapointed.
-
I agree. If you order it now it will be delivered Sept/Oct time frame.
-
To answer your question about deposit, I placed my order with Dawson Precision and they do not require a deposit. In other news, I just got off the phone with them and they said that they have not heard anything about a problem with the barrels but also said they don't have an estimate on when they would go out. I do however now know that I am in the top 10 orders to go out once received of the DVC 40 Limited.
Patience is a virtue...too bad I don't have it.
I'm #1 for the DVC Limited 9mm, +1 with Dawson for no deposit down. The wait is killing me lol.
-
Wow that's an interesting development. I wonder if Dustin will be able to chime in.
-
I was told mine was the 12th DVC ordered at SHOT, looking to see mine in April is my best guess. They anticipated only 500 DVCs total to be ordered and actually received something close to three times that from what I have heard.
I know I am #1 for the 9mm Limited from Dawson Precision. Not sure when they are suppose to get them. Hopefully soon.
-
lol yeah that's how it normally works. So if they only shipped guns to the sales reps, how soon for the dealers?
-
SVI's from what I have heard is worth every penny spent. I plan on getting one. I am currently just getting the STI DVC. Order is going in this year so I can get it next year.
-
so that means, the Dealers should have them shortly?
-
I spoke to someone at STI yesterday and she said DVC orders started shipping this week. Dustin can you confirm this?
I hope that's the case! Hope Dawson Precision gets it soon!

I have been hearing some damn good things about MBX mags, I already have 2 STI mags tuned with TTI parts. But everyone is saying try the MBX. I might have to breakdown and buy a pair. I also have a DVC limited in 9mm on order.
-
I have TTI's in my STI Mags and I like the slimmer profile. They are easy on easy off as well. However if you are running 9mm, you need a spacer to properly feed. It's a PITA sometimes to remove the base pads.
-
Ok so what happened is the TT Spacer was catching the lip of the base pad. I had to cores the spring so I could get grab a hold of the spacer with my Gerber which allowed me to remove the base pad. So yes it wasn't th e spring but the spacer itself.
-
Push the pin down and slide them off
tried that, its getting stuck from the spring.
-
Does anyone have a link to videos on how to remove the Taran Tactical base pads so I can tune the STI mags?

I have a lead on one for $2300 if anyone had the choice, which one would you go with? DVC or Apiero?
Thats if you can get an Apeiro.
I know DP had the pre-order on their website during SHOT and it said 45 of each, that being said, I'll be patient. If not, then the STI Apiero might be my go to so I don't miss the rest of the season.
I have already talked to a few and they confirmed once they have the parts - Two week build time.Lol at the folks thinking they can get a full custom build in 3-6 months!
Then I stumbled on the DVC and ordered it. If the wait is to long I will prob be cancel it and I will go with some of the others and not miss the whole season because of waiting on a seemingly popular off the self gun.
However, I am sure either choice I will receive a very solid gun. STI to me just loses major points by not being able to produce a product. Though I am very happy they have so many orders and wish them continued success.
I was told in April - So I will not bust their chops until then.
This depends on how bad you need a gun. I have shot the Apiero and it is a nice, but it isn't finished to the level of the DVC. The trigger is a traditional setup and some of the parts may require replacement to achieve your desired trigger pull. The grip will need to be textured/grip-taped. You may or may not need to have additional weight removed to create desired recoil characteristics (This may be difficult as a result of the island barrel). With that being said, the gun is very capable and if it comes down to getting an Apeiro or waiting an indefinite amount of time for a DVC, I would get the Apeiro. If you aren't in a hurry, I think the DVC is a better bang for the buck.
I think I am just going to wait for the DVC, one of my buddies got the chance to shoot a 40 Limited and he said it felt like shooting a light 9mm. So I think the wait will be worth it.

"Custom off the shelf" is an oxymoron. His point is you're looking at custom gun wait time for an off-the-shelf pistol. It may be fancy, but it's not custom.
ok so its not custom. It's factory built. Wait times are as long as custom. Who cares. It will come when it ships out. It is what it is.
-
If you think about it, the DVC is a custom off the shelf pistol. Trigger job, slide lightening, mag well TiN barrel. What factory pistol offers that type of customization off the bat at that price point? That sounds like almost custom wait times.
