No, CO still has a posted maximum weight unfortunately. you would think they would have done what you said and simplified everything.

yeah that's what I was thinking as well.  I mean since CO takes majority of the rules from production.  I guess for Production since the CZ's have been dominate they needed to change the rules for others to keep up.  So far I think the ones with complaints about the Production rules that I have seen on the inter webs have been the CZ crowd.

I have an STI Edge Dawson CRP 40 enroute to me. My first 1911/2011 platform, only has a few magazines thru it.

Comes with 3 126mm mags, what extension options do I have to get to 140mm?

Looking to change out the plastic trigger for a X-Line Vario.

Is she ready to rock and roll for Limited Major right out of the box?

    Thanks,

    Jason

do you have to do modifications to the STI trigger frame to allow the X-Line Vario to work?

    Current X-Five setup:

    14# Wolff Variable Rate spring

    GGI PELT falt trigger

What powder are you using?  I shoot 125 RN Blue Bullets with TG, thinking about switching to 147g and TG.

  3. Following, I'm currently new to reloading and I'm using 125g RN Blue Bullets. I started my load from 3.3g-3.6g TG all of them OAL at 1.15 just to be on the safe side. Hogdons website says for 125g min load is 3.6 with a max of 3.8. I'll be running it through my STI DVC tomorrow to see what it likes. I haven't played with OAL. I use Atlanta Arms 147g with an OAL 1.15 and it runs fine in my pistol.

  4. FYI: picked up a DVC limited 40 yesterday and just shot the first match today. Bunch of failure to feeds with Atlanta Arms .40 (short) reman ammo. Mooched some long loaded .40 ammo from some buddies and then it ran fine

I had to switch grains from 115g to 147 grain. My pistol ran fine when I switched. I mainly had FTE stove pipe issues.

  5. Dustin,

Question for you. if the Company that did your coatings on the barrels and comp didn't fair well shall we say and you only planned to sell 300 all year. That should mean you had less than 100 barrels coated on a good day and even received back. Seems there was a huge run of limited so let's say 60 limited barrel between 2 calibers and 40 Open between 2 calibers. ( I believe they are high estimates ) when is the 1st batch of Open guns going open seems to date only 2 have been shipped and no one has received any yet or at least posted about it.

Do you have a new company performing the coating or is it still in R&D? Since no open guns were shipped I am guessing you received no coated open Barrels back for the general public and the ones that were received were only for the shooting team members.

Crickets........ LOL - Is it fair to say you have no coated barrels for open????????

Trunkmnky...chill out and give Dustin a break. It's the weekend...I wouldn't be responding to your never ending questions and complaints on my days off either. You are more impatient than a 2 year old and I should know because I have one.

These are very popular guns and it might take a while for some of us to see ours. Asking "Are we there yet" every 15 min. isn't going to make STI produce them any faster. Be patient, wait your turn, and before long you will have your precious new open gun. SMH

Zmego - Go have fun with your 2 year old he/she will be grown before you know it . I am spending money here. Are we there yet? Dang I missed a few 15 mins. :roflol:

I am just looking for a straight up answer. Seems Dustin keeps saying they are going to be shipped and nothing yet. I feel everyone deserves an answer. I also have told Dustin several times how much I appreciate what he is doing and all the folks at STI. All I want is a Straight up answer here.

Is that too much to ask?????????? Maybe for you. However, not for me.

Don't worry bro, I'm going to go shoot my DVC Limited 9 that I waited for. Dustin has been straight up, hell he even showed pictures of Open Guns being built. I expected my DVC in early to mid May and was pleasantly surprised when it was last week. SMH If you can't stand the wait, I saw a few Brazos and Akai Customs for sale. I am pretty sure those owners wouldn't mind selling you their guns.

Picked her up today and then ran 100 rounds through her. I used the stock mags. I encountered 4 stove pipes. Oddly enough it was the last round fired. I was using Federal 115g ammunition factory new. I am going to continue breaking in this pistol.

Initial impressions on shooting it. The trigger is crisp, however there is some slop and pre-travel. It is light and muzzle flip was significantly reduced. Accuracy is phenomenal. I shot the pistol at 3 and 5 yards to see where I am hitting. At 3 it was low about 3 inches from the x. At 5 yards it was shooting left and line from the x.

The fit between frame and slide is very tight. I like it. The Hard Chrome is aesthetically pleasing. Take the pistol apart is a cinch. No more bushing tools, you can break it down with out them.

Overall impressions, it is very nice and I am glad I waited. It was worth the wait.

  7. I came back from my first match this weekend and immediately "tuned" the grip safety to engage with very little pressure.

I might also replace the trigger with an SV, but not until it breaks in.

I did experience some FTF problems with factory length ammo, but it was like 1 in 100. Most of the problems I had at this first match were either magazines nose-diving with new Grams guts and Dawson SNL base pads, and my unfamiliarity with the gun.

I am still very happy with it and very excited to use it all year. Just need to spend some quality time getting use to the gun and platform...It's the Indian, not the bow..

I would want to ask how many of us DVC owners are planning on putting in a Dawson "Posi-Lock" magazine release/catch? I have heard horror stories about not having one and over-inserting the magazine during slide-lock, but I am not sure how big a deal it really is.

Thanks for sharing, this forum teaches me the answers to questions I never thought to ask, but also makes me ask questions I cannot always find the answer to.

which SV trigger do you recommend? I am new to the 2011 game.
    Short flat

sweet! I am going to look for one and drop it in after break in.

  9. Just spoke to Dawson and I was told that they have only received one limited DVC and that they are not expecting more for another month...not sure how entirely true that is as I am assuming that they don't really know when they will receive shipment but thought I might as well pass that information along.

I got a limited 9mm and someone else got a Limited 40. That's all I have heard from the members on this forum?

  10. Lucas Oil, Extreme Duty Gyn Oil. I clean my open gun at 500 rounds or less. that just depends on if it's a 2 day match or a 1 day match. I figure if STI , Armalite & DoubleStar use it exclusively, it will serve me well. No grease for me.

    +1 on Lucas Oil
