  1. I figured this was the place to ask - I need a muzzle brake for my AR, but it does double duty as a hunting gun (Mostly Predator).

When hunting, ear protection isn't always practical, so I want one that isn't going to blow out my ear drums (of course there won't be any long strings of fire).

    Any help would be appreciated.

  2. Brownells has the Benelli parts you need. Check this Benelli parts link from Brownells. Find part numbers 133 and 136. That should fix you up.

Those won't work with a Nordic tube, but will with a DMW....and if you go with those parts, you might need #65 if yours doesn't have the groove for the sling.

Come to think of it....I have an extra. Isn't real pretty, but if you want to send me $6 for priority shipping I will dig the parts out and send it to you.

  3. I sent my trigger group to him last November for a trigger job and carrier mod. He said it would take 2 weeks but it took 4-5 weeks because of Thanksgiving. He said the trigger job would smooth everything out and reduce the pull to 3.5 lbs. It came back very smooth but broke at 4.5 lb - 5 lb according to my Lyman digital trigger pull guage. It was so smooth, it felt lighter so I was happy with it. The carrier came back a little long and was hitting the next round in the tube and caused a jam but little grinding took care of that. Even though everything didn't come out perfect, I was happy with the job. The carrier came back with a sand blast finish. If you want a mirror finish, expect to do it yourself or see if he could do it.

It is really hard to get the OAL Length and functioning correct without the whole gun to test fire. The work on my shell carrier was well done.

  4. I took it out and played around with it some...I am still leaning towards my Benelli (I have the stock cut down to fit me) and for me, the Benelli is faster and with the SVL Recoil Pad, it shoots just as soft as the FN. It cycles cheap 1 oz. loads from Remington and never hickups.

The FN has a nicer trigger and is built like a tank - I need to get out and shoot it more to really decide.

  5. I have a Master caster and I love it. I cast nine different calibers/ sizes and I bought it used for $200.00. I am thinking aboput purchasing a new one and have a local kid help out.

As far as the Star lubrisizer THEY ARE GREAT I have three with the heating base and one of those has the air lube feed and the automatic bullet feed. If I had bought these 20 years ago i could have avoided to carpal tummel surgeries. They are great.

I stumbled on to this forum by accident and decided to join up. I found a topic that dealt with the KISS bullet feeder and wonder if anyone can tell me the website?

    Thanks

  6. Well... Picked it up today. I must say that from the outset it has the feel of a very well made piece of equipment and is nicely fit and finished as well. The action is tight and solid, and reminds me of a SIG Sauer Pistol (there is just something about how smooth and tight they are, right out of the box).

the LOP is a bit long for me, and the butt pad makes it seem as though I am wearing a pice of fly paper every time I try to mount the gun (No JOKES!!) I have some quick mount gel that I can put on it, but I am going to try and find a shorter pad anyway (as soft as they are supposed to shoot I doubt I will need much - my Benelli has never really bothered me).

I probably won't get to shoot it for another week though :angry2:

  7. Wow, that's the second time an olympian shooter has had their Perazzi stolen from their vehicle. Couple of years ago something just like this happened in TX. The Perazzi was recovered and last I had seen it was still in evidence at the ATF in CO Springs, CO. The dude tried to pawn it and got caught. It takes a long time to get stuff out of evidence too...

Gotta stop leaving guns in their vehicles. :(

Actually...got to start shooting scumbags with the guns they steal!

She did nothing wrong and we are too quick to place the blame on those that leave personal property in a locked vehicle. Just because it can be stolen does not mean it is her fault. I suggest she starts with the scrotum and then the knee caps and then.....

  8. Steve Bailey is part of Heirloom Precision as well.

They also do some Long Gun work(remington 870's for example), but they are focusing on the 1911's and Browning High Powers.

They also decided not to offer pre-packaged work (Their 1* series is no more) and didn't want to be involved in the parts business (no sights, trigger components, etc.).

And yes.....I shoot my Heirloom Precision 1911....that's what they are for!!!!

  9. I used my 6 cavity Sunday and was able to cast just over 300 bullets in 20 minutes not rushing.

I think I need to order a second 6 cavity mould because it would be less strain on using one. I think it overheated a bit.

Right now I only have a 20 lb pot. I've been putting the sprues in a box as I cast but I'm going to start letting them drop back into the pot. I don't think it will upset the temperature that much and will give me much more lead to cast with. I almost emptied the pot and had to fill it up again.

I weighed all the bullets and there were 4 distinct groups of 172 173 174 and over. The few over went back into the pot. Now I have to separate the others and shoot them in + or - .5 grain lots.

I'm hoping the Master Caster will be more accurate over the long run.

2 molds would definitely help, and one other trick is to speed cool the sprue - you have a damp rolled up wash cloth next to your casting station, and when the sprue starts to harden, you turn the mold over and rest it on the wash cloth. The moisture will hasten the cooling of the sprue and allow you to open the mold sooner. It also keeps it from getting too hot. If you keep the wash cloth in an old tupperware with just a TINY bit of water in the bottom, it will stay moist for a long time.

Just keep it well away from the pot - I use the method when casting large bullets for a 45LC or 45-70 and it works great.

You don't do this until after the mold is up to temp, or it will take forever to get it going.

Cast Booloits has lots of tricks like this to make casting faster.

  10. My Stock (stock bolt carrier/shell lifter, Limbsaver Recoil Pad though) M1 will run the Peters 1oz. Target loads (2-3/4 Dram @ 1290 FPS). I have run many boxes without a single malfunction. I would think an M2 with Comfortech would be even more reliable.

  11. The guy at the shop told me that he could modify the M2 to work the same way by filling a grove on the bottom of the bolt; however I probably won't need this with the 8 round tube.

The guy in the shop is wrong, what the bigbrowndog means is you grind some off NOT fill it in to enable the ghost load.

    see here...

Actually....both ways work. The old bolt bodies did not have the groove (thus filling it in works, and that is what I did with JB Weld), filing also works if you file the angle correctly as shown in the pictures.

  12. If it's not one thing it's another...

Now that I've got my M2 Tactical running I discovered that I'm breaking federal law by running a pistol grip stock with a tube extention on a imported shotgun (once again proving I should do better research before buying firearms).

This has to be the stupidest law ever written, but that doesn't change the fact that I need to make it legal or risk going to prison so I'm now on the hunt for a straight confort-tech stock. Anyone know where I can get one? I checked the Benelli web site and they do list stocks as accessories, but the Comfort-Tech version isn't listed and they don't have anyway to order them online. So far my my email to them has gone unanswered, so I'm hoping someone here knows where I can get one..

    Thanks in advance!

NOBODY has ever been prosecuted for that offense, and there are LOTS of shotguns like that out there. This has been hashed over a bunch on the Benelli forums and AR15. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I hear ya.. However, there are two ATF agents that shoot at my local range on a regular basis so knowing my luck I'd be the first one...

    :surprise:
