  1. Needing a progressive press for reloading 9mm, .45ACP, .223, and .308. Also going to need a single stage press for 50BMG and .338 Lapua.

Would you recommend sticking with one brand for both presses? Or no problem buying presses from different brands?

I'm leaning towards either a Dillon 550B and a Lee .50BMG press or going all Hornady or all RCBS. (Doing my best to figure out the differences between each)

  2. New to reloading, but looking for a nice powder to stock up on for 9mm and some .45ACP loading. Wanting to stay with the Hodgdon family right now since their reloading information is all online and instantly available.

Do you have any preference between the new CFE powder and the Universal Clays? Or just get whatever's cheapest to load or actually available?

  3. Any chance someone has pictures of their M2 with magazine tube extensions? Trying to gauge how much longer a 10 shot or 12 shot magazine tube is compared to a 24", 26", or 28" barrel.

A Nordic +6 tube (9 total) is even with the end of the barrel on a 24" M2. The +7 tube (10 total) is even with the end of a 26" M2 barrel.

    Awesome, really appreciate that info.

Just curious... what length tube is everyone running for 3 gun in your area? Seeing quite a bunch of 12 shell tubes lately.

I run a 14 round tube in 3-gun. I'll be using a 12 at the World Shotgun Shoot in Italy next month because of tighter walls and ports. 12 is the norm here, I'm in central Texas.

Thanks for the info! What barrel length are you running?

  5. I run the K6i, and purchased it from Planet Optics, who were great to deal with, and shipped out fast...

I compared the glass to the Swaro Z6i, and the Kahles has slightly larger field of view, glass is just a bit clearer, and the scope is lighter, weighing just over 17 oz.

Your Kahles is lighter? On the specs posted online it seems like the Swarovski is supposed to be lighter. Which reticle do you prefer using?

I don't think you can buy the Kahles in the US, so I would lean towards the Z6i. I have 2 of them and they are hands down the biggest game changer of any equipment I have purchased.

Any comments on why you lean slightly more to the Z6i? What reticles did you go with?

  6. Well darn, I was all set to get a 28" with a 3 + 9 extension, but now I'm not sure. I gave Taran Tactical a call today, and they recommended I send them a 24" M2 with a maximum of 10 shotshell capacity being needed. I forgot to ask them why that barrel length though. :(

  7. Are you guys talking about the regular JP LMOS? Or the aluminum version that's even more expensive?

And may be a stupid question... but can you use any bolt just fine inside their low mass BCG? Or should you pair it with the JP Enhanced bolt?

  8. Currently eyeballing the Rainier Arms Ultramatch... 18", rifle length gas, .223 Wylde, Stainless Steel, from a Shilen Barrel blank, and that 90 day guarantee has me leaning that way. Also eyeing a JP SuperMatch light contour 18". Any others I should research?

  9. I'm primarily interested in shooting Steel Challenge, 3 Gun, and Pro-Am. I may pick up USPSA or IDPA in the future, but I'm just dipping my toe into competition shooting this summer. Seems like the only restrictions for those main 3 is just having iron sights and no muzzle brake.

I'm considering the G34 due to my familiarity with shooting my Glock 19, but I'd like to send it off to Taran Tactical for their RTS package. Like the Gen4 MOS for its red dot option for fun, but I'm told the Gen3 is preferable due to its superior trigger pull?

The other option I'm considering is a CZ SP-01 of some sort from their custom shop. I tried out a regular CZ SP-01 before and liked it with the exception of the trigger reset and having to learn the double action pull. I'm wondering if a custom version would be better. I was told by the Steel Challenge guys that they're the best of the best, but I was warned by the 3 Gun fellas that they're not utilized much due to its safety and tossing them into buckets can knock the safety off.

Finally... are there good holster recommendations for either of them?

  10. Been considering getting a VP9 or a G34 MOS, but I realized I was forgetting all about the great things I've heard about the CZ75. I'm really hoping to get some free time this summer to get into competition shooting as my local range hosts 3 Gun, IDPA, and USPSA competitions frequently.

I do have 1 quick question on how the sights are set up. Are they set up as combat sights where you place the target behind the front dot? Or pumpkin on a post like for a Glock? I personally am used to Glocks and the pumpkin on a post view so I'm wondering if I'll need a version with adjustable sights.

Was recommended to buy this CZ 75 for bang for buck as an all around gun or this CZ 75 for a dedicated competition handgun. What are your thoughts? I'm leaning towards the first CZ 75 I linked, but I'm told the Custom CZ 75 rival custom 1911s in trigger pull, accuracy, and quality.
