Anyone loading Alliant BE-86 in their .40 S&Ws?
  2. Is this why the loading data was dropped for 9mm?
  3. For Steel, I've been using 115 Xtreme and 3.6 grains of Ramshot Competition in my CZ-75B for very little recoil. I've used as little as 3.3 grains (955 fps) for complete reliability but, it's terribly dirty while 3.6 is clean burning.
  4. Love Unique but, the last I saw was about a year ago for $35 lb. and I don't love it that much! 6 grs./200 gr. SWC gets 815 fps and cuts a big ragged hole at 25 yards out of my Sig P220. Maybe some more will be made eventually.
  5. This from the Speer reloading manual #10: "If the bullet is easily moved deeper into the case, malfunctions may occur. But more important, loads that produced 28,000 cup went to 62,000 cup when bullets were purposely seated .030"deeper!"
  6. Jack, Velocity is running 1012 fps and Western shows 1003 fps with same charge but, with Ranier bullets. Pretty confident with this load as recoil is almost non-existent and 50 yard 8" gong was not too difficult to hit regularly without rest. IDescribe, Never had a hiccup in 2500 rounds with the OAL. .171" inside case and will hold 40 pounds for 1 minute without telescoping into case. I was running 1.155" OAL until I got a Lone Wolf barrel for my G27 and had to shorten to 1.40". I load to function in all as I hate to have different lengths.
  7. You were right! I just ran 100 that I increased the powder charge by 3/10ths grain making Western's max of 3.6 grains and only very slightly smokey. I really can't believe the difference. I guess I've never ran any powder below the point of clean burning. Thanks all.
  8. Could be light but, 3.6 grains is listed max and I'm only .3 grain below that. Chrono shows 1012 fps with the max of 3.6 in my CZ and Western shows 1003 fps with their 4" barrel. How much you fellers run in 9's?
  9. I just ran 120 rounds of 9mm through my CZ-75 and starting to clean it. My load is: Win. small pistol primer/ 3.3 grains RS Competition/ 115 Xtreme/ OAL 1.140" Vel. 955 fps My CZ-75 is extremely dirty both inside and out. I have shot many pounds of Unique, Bullseye, and Red Dot, which are supposed to be dirty burning, but have never had fouling this bad. This load shoots well but, the fouling residue reminds me of Black Powder. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks
  10. Have you noticed Ram Shot Competition to be dirty burning? My recipe is: WSP/3.3 gr. RS Comp./115 gr. Xtreme/@ 1.135" in various cases for a velocity of 955 fps; SD=7.3; ES=19. This load is 100% reliable out of my CZ-75B and is used for ringing steel and paper punching. I fired 390 rounds and had the most filthy pistol I've ever cleaned compared to firing 736x using 4.2 grs. Red Dot that wasn't half as dirty. 4.7 grs. of Unique is also much cleaner burning. So do you think if I increase the charge the added pressure will make it burn cleaner? I have tested 3.6 grs. @ 1012 fps; SD=26; ES=61. I didn't notice it to be too dirty with only 10 rounds fired but, the stats were better with the 3.3 grain load.
  11. I've used 6 grains of Unique under a 165 grain RMR with an OAL of 1.128" sparked with a CCI 500. Ran great in my Glock 35 and 27.
  12. I'm using 115 grain Xtreme bullets, 5 grains of Unique and sparked by Winchester small primers out of my CZ-75B.
  13. Been lurking all day on the 9mm forum and really enjoying it. Last year started shooting steel challenge and GSSF matches. The last time I competed with a handgun was 1967. Yeah, it's been quite a while.:-)
