  1. I had a couple. Frame are forged, by IMBEL in Brazil. There are a couple of versions: Loaded and GI. Easier to start your project with Loaded. Probably will run as good as Para, all things being equal. Dunno how non-ramped barrel will perform over the long run, though. Full disclosure: I have and do run a 14-45 in 2-gun action matches. Never hiccupped, and I see no reason to look elsewhere.
  2. I had a couple of these. The frame on mine were made in Brazil; IMBEL unless I'm mistaken, same folks that make the FAL receiver so popular with DIY crowd. One of mine was the Loaded version and the other was the GI, both double-stack, non-ramped barrel pistols.
  3. I'm 67. I have been a little of every category mentioned above. I shoot while I can, because I can.
  4. Check extractor tension. It's a quick fix. The standard 1911 extractor can lose tension with use. An Aftec usually fixes a persistent problem. If the extractor is letting go of the case before it can hit the ejector, you will have ejection problems. I have no idea of your pistol's history. I would follow the advice given above with the additional note: 9mm 1911s have slightly different dimensions in extractor (all stemming from a different cartridge than .45acp!), so a quick check would certainly eliminate the possibility of the wrong part. The last round is different in that there is no following round that guides the extraction of the fired cartridge, so I can see how a weak extractor could release the empty before the ejector can bounce it out. If you've done extractor work on 1911s before, 9s are not anymore difficult to work with than 45acp, just go slow if you plan on reshaping it, especially by the "eyeball" method. If you have not, there's a ton of literature out there on adjusting and testing extractor tension. Good luck!

This probably the most ideal, If you look at all the bigger 3gun matches this year, Most will have you doing a anaerobic event (running, climbing over objects) just prior to jumping on a rifle with Long shots, which causes the heart rate to spike up. The better you can control this the less "bounce" you have to worry about in your scope. Not to knock Taran, because the guy is a BEAST! but he does tend to stay away from matches that are more of a physical challenge. (ie. BRM3G, RM3G, and Ironman.) To the OP, its really not a easy question, I say continue the program your on and start adding in muscle flexibly training. More times then not your going to find yourself in less then optimal shooting positions, being able to get in, stay relaxed, and able to get out of them will shave a lot of time. Also a good breathing exercise would be helpful, I see to many people get to excited during movement and tend to want to breath through their mouths, this is a bad thing as this makes the heart Spike even faster, so being able to breath through your nose even while sprinting is what I suggest. If your trying to control recoil by "muscling" it, then you should probably work on technique instead. This. I don't multi, but I've tried ACTS, which may be even more physical and contorted. Strength is good, but only if accompanied by agility and endurance. If you can't actually fire a wep during your workout, at least work in some dry firing or magazine changes when you're at, or near, peak heart rate.
